RIP Justakeg. What the teenager was still doing on a racecourse is anybody's guess! The poor old boy was clearly not meant for horse racing; hence him being beaten by miles at huge prices for his whole career! Some may say it was still relatively early days for Boxcar Molly but she too had shown she was never going to win races before her sad demise. I seem to remember reading that in certain parts of America, horses who have never won and keep getting beaten out of sight are suspended from racing until they prove that they can run a certain distance in a certain time away from the track. I'd love that to happen in Ireland and Britain because it would save a lot of time, money and effort and horses' lives too! How can an owner possibly get enjoyment out of seeing their horse finish at the back or not finish at all and pick up little or no prize money? You'd be better off paying for a nice retirement home for them rather than pointless training fees! Justakeg ran 20 times and won just £904. That's just over 45 quid per race! Boxcar Molly ran 13 times and won just £365. That's about 28 quid per race!
