  • Hello everyone!
I mentioned in a previous video about our garden and whether you'd like to see some garden updates and progress in 2024, and a few people said yes, so I thought I would show you an honest starting point for us. I have a lot of work to do, but at least if you are in the same position as me, we can do it together!
Let me know if you have any plant suggestions or advice on what to do and where! xx

    ❤ MORE ABOUT ME ❤
I'm a 35 year-old mum of three, who lives in Cheshire, in the UK, and this is my small part of the online world, where I share parts of my life - whether that's the day-to-day stuff, motherhood, recipes, or all that other stuff that makes me, me. I'm married to Mark, who is honestly my best mate, and we have three children, Bill, Daisy and Stanley, and they seem to be growing up so darn fast these days. We have a golden retriever called Merlin, and two cats called Romeo and Elsa and...hang on, this is sounding a bit like a kid's essay at school isn't it? Sorry about that! I have the tendency to ramble a bit. Life did not go to plan for me, but I am very grateful for that, otherwise I wouldn't be where I am today.
As for this channel, you might find everything from food videos, clothing hauls, home updates, vlogs now and again, and some topics close to my heart, such as coparenting, mental health, hearing loss and Stickler Syndrome too. I am a very average mum, but I try my absolute best at whatever I do, and hopefully you enjoy following along!

Hi Charlotte. New subscriber here. You just popped up on UA-cam today. I love your garden, especially the water running through the garden. I’m an enthusiastic amateur 65 yr old gardener🙂 Still
learning. As long as you’re enjoying it, thats the main thing!
Looking forward to seeing more of your garden now the weathers warmer.
    Greetings from sunny Essex❤️

Thanks for sharing your garden again, Charlotte. It's just like all our gardens at the moment, my grass area is just so soggy, so I can't walk on it yet. I have a fushia growing outside my kitchen window and really need to give it a good cut back. I love it. You're lucky to have moved into a garden that was started so you have some plants like the gorgeous hydrangea growing away happily. You have a lovely secret bit at the end 😊 I'll look forward to watching what you do this year.

I love gardening, but I’m in the US, and don’t know what types of plants are legal where you live. I know there are some English plants that are illegal here (currants, privet, and some types of boxwood), so I’d imagine it would be similar in the UK. But I would say things that are perennial or re-seed themself are ideal. I’d look into things like daisies, poppies, perennial mums, and hollyhocks. Just beware that hollyhocks don’t always bloom the first year and can be about 1.5 meters tall! For your trellis, I might look into something like blue butterfly pea. They bloom beautifully for a long time. For training the climbing roses, look for padded garden ties. They’re like twist ties but are covered in a layer of foam so that they don’t hurt the plant.

You would probably know more than me as I must admit I’m a bit hopeless! I love a daisy (I can’t not!), and I’m hoping to get some cosmos on the go next as I think they are just stunning! You sound so knowledgeable - I bet your garden at home is stunning! Thank you so much for the twist tie tip too! xx

Charlotte i am so pleased your doing a series on your garden i so enjoyed what you were able to show last year you worked so hard and it looked so pretty, that is the one thing about gardening it is a work out in itself, and the winter months do make it look at little sad but you will triumph and bring it back to life, its so nice seeing all the new growth poking through too, and you are so right not many show the progress so i am here happy gardening xx

Ah thank you Linda! I’m so excited to get stuck into it - I think that’ll be how we spend some of Easter as I’d love to tidy it up a little for the kids. They’ve already started playing outside again and I’d like to get it nice for them. xx

You have a really lovely sized garden, my garden is over 200 foot long which is great but it is really hard to manage it all and keep it looking tidy! We do try but it is hard, I’m grateful to have such a big garden xx

Thank you! I’ve no idea how long ours is! Sometimes I wish I just had a lawn and some flower beds but I enjoy the challenge of overhauling this every year, even though I may moan! 😂 xx

The roses need cutting back to a third in January. Also the best time to sort a lawn is in autumn. So scarify etc and re-seed in autumn. X

I know I’ve left them a bit late, but I’ve done it before and they’ve grown back alright. I think I need to read-up on what I’ve already got a bit more! As for the grass - I’m not getting involved! These blokes are all on a mission and I’m just praying it pays off! 😂 xx

Have you tried sowing some seeds? I do this on our windowsills inside, it’s nice for my daughter to see (she’s almost 3!) and it’s such a cheap way of getting plants! Also, there are bulbs you can plant now for summer time, B&Q often have bulbs.
    Love this series already!

I’ve actually got a little mini greenhouse ordered so I can start sowing and replenishing long term! I was too chicken last year and didn’t have the confidence to, but I’d love to give it a go this year! xx

    • @EmmaChamp
      @EmmaChamp 2 місяці тому

@@CharlotteLouiseTaylor definitely worth giving it a go, cosmos are lovely to grow and maybe some sunflowers with the children? Also, it’s all an experiment, if it doesn’t work every time it’s okay as the seeds aren’t silly expensive!
