There's something about Rocket Lab's pace I really like. SpaceX feels kinda rushed and impatient. Blue Origin feels too slow. Rocket Lab feels like they're going at just the right pace, advancing whenever they're ready, making leaps and bounds seemingly without even breaking asweat.
SpaceX is certainly impatient, but calling them "rushed" seems silly. They are going at the pace they feel will get them where they want to go the fastest, regardless of how that may look to outsiders. And yesterday's outrageous SN10 test is the perfect example. No other entity even compares ATM.

Go Rocket Lab! aside from SpaceX this is my favorite rocket company. I like their approach to rocket engines and how they are not afraid to admit when they are wrong. I believe this is the biggest problem with the "major" rocket companies out there, They NEVER admit they are wrong about ANYTHING.
I don't know where all these supposed other rocket companies are that people keep talking about. "Companies" are new to space flight. Up until recently only governments could do it, and of course there is going to be a culture of PR and secrecy around that. Firms like ULA are still very closely tied to the old school way but it has barely been a decade that space has been open to the public.

I love to see that Peter Beck is a man of his word. This makes me so excited. I though after the announcement of the Photon, we wouldn't hear anything for awhile. All of these companies, and countries with growing space programs, continue to amaze me. This is only the beginning.
I mean I would say "nah this is not going to happen this soon", but planes really advanced so fast it's insane. Still I'd spare some optimism, flying is "easy", basically for a transatlantic flight you only need to spend your own body weight in fuel (still a lot of energy), but for achieving orbital velocities that a whole other level of energy requirements. To bring "millions" of people you'd need to use a freaking insane amount of fuel, and sadly those days rockets don't simply run on Hydrogen and Oxygen, they fun on fossil based fuels AND also require a huge amount of infrastructure to send into space.... so I don't know about the "20 years from now" since 1940 ish rockets haven't really advanced that much. The materials has advanced, but the theory is still the same basic theory. At some point in human history though I have no doubt that space will have millions and billions of people IF we do not kill our-self in wars or fuck the planet so badly that we go extinct.

What I originally meant was not that there would be millions of space tourists, but that (hopefully) space tourism would be affordable enough that way more people could buy a seat, if they wanted to. Hey man, I watched your whole commercial and all you ate was a thread? To justify what you say at 2:27, you have to eat whole hats 'over and over again.' So you need to figure out how to cook a hat so you can digest it. Cotton and cardboard break down to cellulose, and nylon can be processed to pass through. I love to see that Peter Beck is a man of his word. This makes me so excited. I though after the announcement of the Photon, we wouldn't hear anything for awhile. All of these companies, and countries with growing space programs, continue to amaze me. This is only the beginning.
When it comes to the aerospace industry Rocket Lab is the kid next door with the cool toys. The really cool badass multi million dollar toys.
At this pace, within 20 years space tourism will be actually attainable for millions of people. What a time to be alive!
I mean I would say "nah this is not going to happen this soon", but planes really advanced so fast it's insane.
Still I'd spare some optimism, flying is "easy", basically for a transatlantic flight you only need to spend your own body weight in fuel (still a lot of energy), but for achieving orbital velocities that a whole other level of energy requirements.
To bring "millions" of people you'd need to use a freaking insane amount of fuel, and sadly those days rockets don't simply run on Hydrogen and Oxygen, they fun on fossil based fuels AND also require a huge amount of infrastructure to send into space.... so I don't know about the "20 years from now" since 1940 ish rockets haven't really advanced that much.
The materials has advanced, but the theory is still the same basic theory.
At some point in human history though I have no doubt that space will have millions and billions of people IF we do not kill our-self in wars or fuck the planet so badly that we go extinct.

What I originally meant was not that there would be millions of space tourists, but that (hopefully) space tourism would be affordable enough that way more people could buy a seat, if they wanted to. So instead of $50M, it will be in the in the tems or hundreds of thousands.

It could be just people launching random satellites that does god knows what task just because it's so cheap, or actual commercial astronauts doing missions in labs not in the ISS (in more then 20 years).

My skepticism mostly stems from the all to vocal SpaceX fans that talk about all the things SpaceX is going to do, without questioning the viability, plausibility, and most importantly practicalities (is that a word?).
Anyway to end this comment on a positive vibe: a bit random, but if you like thinking about "the future" of space, I recommend watching Isaac Arthur on UA-cam, his channel is all about futurism and technology, he(the channel) tries to keep it rational, but still exploring the ideas of what technology/civilizations could be in thousands of years, while keeping the tech to what we currently understand about science and tech.

Hey man, I watched your whole commercial and all you ate was a thread? To justify what you say at 2:27, you have to eat whole hats 'over and over again.' So you need to figure out how to cook a hat so you can digest it. Cotton and cardboard break down to cellulose, and nylon can be processed to pass through. Seems like you haven't put any resources into this project.
