Thanks to your video my two sons and I were able to put our generator together in the dark last night with just our cell phone flashlight as tropical storm Isaias came through our village. We were 10 hours without power and my basement would have flooded without the use of a generator to power our sump pump. Thanks again!!!
Killer unit 12-15 hrs a day 7 days a week soul power for my place 4 years just blew connecting rod 10 min ago over 5000hrs on unit. Will be swapping engine in morning. Before warranty runs out get fuel cap. valve cover gasket. Recoil and coil and you will be set. Oh and after about 1000 hrs the low oil switch will go will not run more than 2 min at a time big job.... just disconnect and be on your merry way (keep an eye on oil levels)
Considering that you got 5k hrs out of it, i would say you got your $$ worth. Next these things were NOT meant to be ran for 12-15 hrs per day every day, these units are for TEMPORARY power, meaning running for a few hrs during a power outage or worst case for a few days after a natural disaster ... I don't understand WHY people bash these portable generators after they break down when they run it for 5 months straight as their primary power source, it was NOT meant for that
Best to turn the fuel off with the engine running (no load) and run the carb out of fuel to stop it gumming up especially if you use it infrequently 🇬🇧👍🏻
Yeah, I’m not a fan. If running regular gas then maybe, but in generators it’s best to run a stabilized fuel because they run infrequently. With that, I’d rather keep everything wet, otherwise you get humidity and moisture in there and it corrodes so bad. A stabilized fuel seems the lesser of the two evils.
@@Turbo231, each to his own but I’m on my 3rd generator and have always run them dry when shutting down and never had a problem with the carbs, owned 1 of mine for 10 years 1 for 6 years and my present 8kw for 1 year all Chinese all been good.
Thank you....this simple video helped get my 5706 going. I have two on switches. So I wasn't sure which on switch to use. Plus the fuel line switch wasn't clear on where to point it. Thanks!
Its been over a year sense you made this video and I was wondering if it stills runs great or have you had any major issues with it. I baught one a couple days ago because we're under a winter storm warning and I haven't ran mine more than 30 miniuts because I didn't have much fuel to waste
It has been excellent. We use it during power outages to charge cell phones and to run the fridge/freezer/griddle, it starts fine and runs fine. I do keep a fuel stabilizer in it and run it every few months for at least 1/2 an hour with load to make sure there are no issues and to keep it in running shape since it is to us an emergency backup generator. We plan on wiring in a specific outlet that allows us to run it outside and just plug things in to that special outlet.
@@kennethetheridge9118 It’s not exceptionally quiet, but is not grossly loud either. On my Red Barn Homestead channel we did use a sound meter to measure it to comparable equipment and it was fair. I’m sure there are quieter out there, but of course they cost quite a bit more new.
Hey quick question: I have the same unit and have used it only twice. Does your always run at the same rpm? Doesn't matter what I have plugged into it - if anything - it just always seems ro run at really high rpm and never change with the load.
Its supposed to run at the same RPM at all loads. It needs to run at 3600 RPM to maintain 60Hz which is the power gird standard and what all things that plug in want to see. Its designed to generate 120 volts, but as you add electrical load, it works harder to maintain that 3600 RPM.
can u guys help me out i have same gernator but my battery not working then i ordered a new battery and installed it. Now my gernator not start with remote can u guys please help me out
Cheers mate. Bought one of these almost one year ago to the day. Gotta pull it back out because we have another hurricane coming for us. Exactly what I needed.
I guess? This is a low end model hitting a great price point, but I’m sure there is a fancier model that may have more options. The catch is, at what cost?
Products For Men We just had a 36 hour power outage at our cottage and this generator performed perfectly although we just powered our refrigerator, microwave, TV and internet modem. Amazing value for what you get, the excellent wheels, handle and cover included. Hope you have great luck with yours.
@@brianbaker359 you know the funny part is that; once you have a generator you will barely use it. Mine still sits in a box new. Although I still keep it since I got it for $500CAD with 4K running watts. The electric starter and dual fuel is a bonus. At least you are ready compare to most people that doesn't have a backup plan. 36 hours of no power is no joke for sure.
I own that same model. Purchased it as a scratch and dent ... the box was damaged and the frame is slightly bent. It easily runs a fridge, coffee maker, toaster oven, a few lights and fans. The manual recommends running it once a month for a half-hour or so. I have an electric corded lawn mower and use the generator when I mow ... two birds with one stone.
The 3kW generators are pretty quiet compared to a 8kW generator .. Trust me i know. I have the Firman 3650 and its not too bad but my Champion 8kW ... that sucker is LOUD
It’s for sure a unit you can find on sale. Last year I found them at Walmart for high $200! Now, that being said being stored so long mine has picked up a reving idle I blame on a weak governor spring. Will look into that this year.
