- Опубліковано 6 сер 2024
- Six Flags Great Escape is arguably the most charming Six Flags park. While this New York theme park doesn't have the same roller coaster lineup as the chain's larger parks, it does feature a notable collection of attractions including a classic wood coaster, some thrilling flat rides, and good water slides. So in this video, I will rank the top 15 rides and attractions at this theme park and water park.
Please note, many of the water slides at Hurricane Harbor were renamed after this video was published.

fun fact from a former employee: the nightmare building now holds all the prizes for the games. who wants an indoor rollercoaster when you can have a storing place for squid hats?
Yeah I saw some of the bits inside when the door was open.
that’s depressing
So that’s why it’s not been replaced yet
@@bubblegaminglol yes because that’s why people come to theme parks. Those exciting games 🙄🙄
Yes, I love the way the bobsleds can hop right up off the track.
They can’t though
Me too.
@@AmazingElevatorsandClaws they can
What off the tracks
Bro, the Screamin Demon and Canyon Blaster are goated.
I prefer their other coasters.
I live in Iowa. Three Upstate Parks I really want to get to see Sea Breeze, Darien Lake, and Great Escape.
I loved visiting Upstate the two times I’ve been.
I need to revisit those first 2.
Dont waste ya time with Sea breeze. Instead go to Water Safari.....
When I visited the park (2013?) it was pretty empty so we actually got to do about 5 laps back to back on Comet. Still a great ride for the age and history of it.
Comet never has much of a line even on a busy day.
@@CanobieCoaster mI
You kmow a place is bad when the #3 ride gets a breakdown warning, but man, do I love your candor. Your honesty makes your channel elite. The scenery of the park looks lovely btw. I love what I see.
It has a lot of charm.
Oh Rainbow! Did not expect that blast of nostalgia! You forgot to mention how its placement next to the entrance building gave the illusion that you were going to hit the building every counter-clockwise rotation. ;)
Good list.
Do you know why they chose to take down Nightmare? I feel like it was a fun experience at the very least. Could have made the ride go from a 5, to an 8 if they went to Spencer and got some black lights or something to add some interesting dim lighting at least.
Also, have you seen the log flume in operation at all in the last few years? I haven't gotten over there yet in 2022, but like the last 2 years I have been, the log flume has been drained and closed.
I rode the flume last year. As for Nightmare, it had brake issues, which led to them having to run one car on the course half loaded, so it was a capacity...nightmare.
@@CanobieCoaster thats crazy I never knew that about Nightmare's brakes. Makes sense because I remember riding it at darien lake the year before it came to GE and it was 4 people per car and never saw more than 2 people at GE. It's such a shame they haven't put another coaster in that building. I've always thought we would get one of the Dark Night wild mouse coasters relocated in that building.
I will miss the Alpine Bobsled, got to ride it before it closed down for good, but I cant wait to right on the new wooden coaster their getting, The Bobcat.
Bobcat should be even better.
Im just hoping great escape will make some more intense roller coasters after bobcat
Nice revisit to a charming park with a great setting. It's a unique park name as well. AstroWorld had Condor for one season. Adventure Rivers replaced it. I was glad when they took that out. It spoiled the "in park view of the Texas Cyclone which looked lovely in sun set.
It does have lots of charm.
I went here a few weeks ago and while I loved Comet, my favorite ride was Adirondack Outlaw for its great intensity and beautiful view.
Understandable.
That ride looks very scary outlaw I was there Sunday
@@misscandy84 It is.
@@ThemeParkAvenue I'd shit my pants or puke
@@misscandy84it’s not scary at all
I LOVE LOVE LOOOOOVE THE BLIZZARD!!!!! We always have to go right when the park opens cause a line forms FAST
It's definitely a good one to hit early.
Going for the first time on Wednesday, I can’t wait!
Enjoy!
@@CanobieCoaster thank you!
Great video! They really need to do something with this park. Give it a raptor or something.
Thanks, I hope!
A small park that could benefit from much better coasters. Still a great collection for it's size. Comet is by far the best ride there and a awesome S&S Space Shot in Sasquash but it kinda goes downhill fast from there.
A great steel coaster would really help.
Idk why they didn't upgrade the S&S tower to be a combo when they moved it to GE. Would have been way better. As far as coasters, im still pissed they gave the SLC to LaRonde.
@@CanobieCoaster I like about 25 minutes away, so have been going to great escape since I was a kid. I want a steel coaster so bad, but i don’t think it will ever happen. Six flags will unfortunately never spend the money for the ride, and consequently the cost of creating roads for the town. It’s so disappointing.
I actually really liked some of the other slides that share Banshee Plunge’s slide tower, they were quite long and faster than you described.
Also, for some reason, the log ride had rapids when I went. Did you have the same experience?
I got bad rides on the other tube slides. I don't recall any notable rapids on Desperado Plunge.
Definately agree on the top 3. I'll add that Adirondak Outlaw is one of the best flat rides I've ridden anywhere. It's a shame that Funtime doesn't have the best reputation now, they unquestionably have the best modern flat rides in terms of the actual ride experience in my opinion (hard to compare modern flat rides with rare, classic, gas powered flat rides like the Bushkill Park Scrambler or the Knobles Flyers. Yes I just used this comment as an excuse to talk about a must experience flat ride most enthusiasts don't even know about with Bushkill's Scrambler)
I agree boosters are awesome.
I think I remember the Tornado ride from when I was a kid. Wish the park got a dark ride again. I feel like Six Flags there is kind of lazy do much new though.
It would be nice to have a dark ride for sure.
The park's lineup isn't awful, it just really needs a new "headlining" steel coaster. Even a sky rocket II would work (I'd rather see a eurofighter or hyper-gtx but it's six flags we're talking about)
Oh also an indoor spinner inside of the old nightmare building would be cool, paying homage in a way to the defunct coaster. The building would probably need to be expanded though
I agree!
Nice video. I will be visiting with my family in two weeks. We’re not water park people so we’ll probably just be at the dry park. Any suggestions for other things to do in the area to fill out the day? I have a 12 and 14 year old.
There are a lot of arcades in the town. Also there is a great boat ride on Lake George. If you are able to get an "adult" night, go to The Sagamore. I went on my honeymoon there and it is an amazingly beautiful place. Especially the area in the back of the hotel, on the water.
Around the World Mini Golf is my favorite mini golf course.
Im going to this park for my birthday, (I've been to it before) and I'm hyped for it! When I was younger I was never really a fan of big hills but I'm still debating whether going on the comet cus I know how the hill is. Anyone whose been on it, can you explain how it feels?
If you're worried about the drop, ride it towards the front so you aren't pulled over it.
@@CanobieCoaster ah ok thanks! my mom also told me to just scream the whole time cus it'll help for me not to lose my breath🙃
Even though this park isn’t like some other Six Flags parks I’d still visit it someday. The Adirondack Outlaw looks to stand out and the Comet will certainly be a fun rollercoaster, plus this park has some other good rides like a log flume and a river rapids. Adirondack Outlaw is actually a ride that might be a Bucket List ride. But the Adirondack Outlaw and The Comet are the reasons I’d enjoy this park a lot but not as much as the other Six Flags Parks
I do think this park is better than Frontier City
The park has a charm to it while having some solid rides too.
Sad that the alpine bobsled will be closing,it was so unreliable but it was so unique,I got 2 rides on it like 5 years ago and I’ll never be able to experience it again
Rip 1998-2023
RIP and I'm excited for Bobcat.
People say Six Flags treat this park like garbage, but I'm not sure I agree with that. It's without a doubt a FAMILY park, not a thrill one. From what I've seen, the park seems to be more about the charm than the rides, and there's nothing wrong with that at all. Sure, it could use a couple more thrilling rides and is in DESPERATE needs of a new coaster, but not a lot if you ask me. You want to see a park Six Flags treats poorly, just head up to Canada for La Ronde.
It doesn't have the usual Six Flags coaster lineup. Instead it has a better atmosphere.
@@CanobieCoaster I do love atmosphere!
Hey dude LaRonde has our SLC. They have a B&M hyper and batman clone, I would give my right nut for GE to have LaRonde's lineup and I think it probably would have a couple of their coasters if Six Flags hadn't purchased LaRonde. That SLC would probably be sitting where Steamin Demon or Bobsled is right now as those were always the rumored spots it was supposed to replace although Jungleland was another spot that was rumored to get the SLC. Would have been strange with Looney Tunes/Timbertown
finally a new coaster bobcat
I'm looking forward to it.
@@CanobieCoaster we all are! I love your videos
Pandemonium is my favorite flat ride (when it doesn't break down lol)
It's solid.
Pandemonium is a fun ride. I have been on it before but great escape is closed right now can’t wait for it to open in may
I just recently started getting into theme parks (I mean not that I haven’t always loved them but I mean like real I might travel interest) Holiday World is my close park that I go to all the time. I honestly never knew just how many parks there are in the US lmao seems like something that would be more rare than they are. This one looks pretty mild but still fun, not worth the trip to NY but there’s a bunch that are and now I’m wanting to travel the whole country just for theme parks 😂😂
Holiday World is better than this park, but Great Escape is solid.
@@CanobieCoasterI mean it does look fun but as far as not driving more than 10/12 hours there’s better parks closer to me, but I’m saying it’d be cool to make a living traveling to different parks. Wouldn’t matter how big or small you get to hit em all 😂 had the chance to go to OWA Tropic Falls but the people that were with us weren’t interested so we missed out on that one
Alpine Bobsled, and how many rides and coasters did you know at the park before they removed them?
See in RCDB: Nightmare (at Crack Axle Canyon) at Great Escape. If I ask you about that, that ride was closed after 2006, if you visited the park before that, Canobie Coaster would say...
A) Awful, but it had decent capacity at best.
B) Ok, but it had bad capacity.
C) Awful, bad capacity and uncomfortable ride.
D) A 4, it was jerky at points but it had some ok force at best. Just bad capacity.
C
This year Comet has run way faster than I have ever seen it run before and all of the airtime hills are at least flojector
That's awesome to hear it's running better again!
The bunny hill right before you get your picture taken and the main hill that you get your picture taken on both actually give rly good ejector now@@CanobieCoaster
What do you think about the old nightmare coaster?
Awful. Bad capacity and an uncomfortable ride.
What do you think about canyon blaster?
Boring
@@CanobieCoaster It is listed as a family coaster, not a thrill ride. I haven't ridden it but from the videos it seems to be designed poorly, needing a second lift to complete the final helix. It compares, unfavorably, to the Trailblazer Mine Train coaster at Hershey Park, also a family coaster, or the Runaway Mine Train at other Six Flags. What I will say is a coaster in this category is needed at Knoebels where the intermediate coaster is currently Flying Turns.
So my friend told me this someone went on the nightmare and and didn’t put their hair up and got strangled to death legend has it she haunts the place now.
I don't think that happened.
Ok maybe you didn’t know about it 🙄
I was there today the ferris wheel is no longer there the blizzard is retheme the park is a great park
I heard the Ferris Wheel was removed.
What’s in place where the Ferris wheel was?
Im going soon is the comet still open?
And the bobsled
Bobsled was replaced by a new wood coaster named Bobcat. Comet is still there.
Cool I can't wait to try them!
I like the Six Flags sign that’s on the side of the log flume
It's good advertising.
No Canyon Blaster? How dare you!
Not a fan.
What do you think about steamin demon
It's atrocious. Very rough.
@@CanobieCoaster I agree. I rode it years ago and found it slow and I think I still have bruises on my shoulders from the inversions. I don't agree with your assessment of Flashback, which I believe used to be called Boomerang. That one I didn't like either.
the bobcat replaced the bobsled
Yes, looking forward to trying it this year.
I live in this town and blizzard should be higher
It's a fun ride for sure.
would you ride a booster with the speed of formula rossa
No
HELL YES
Yes
Fun fact I’m going there today
The indoor water park?
@@CanobieCoaster yes
Can you record in the water park
Rip bobsled
I'm excited for the new Bobcat. It should be better.
Comet the best ride there a very fast not slow at qll
It's still fun, but it hasn't run as fast as it has in the past for me.
Bruh what do you mean steamin demon is like probably most people’s number third it might be just your opinion but like
To each their own.
This is virar great escape???
This is Great Escape.
They need the griffon ,supernan and kingda ka
At other parks.
First Comment
Nice!
This place sucks lol
I like the park.
@@CanobieCoaster I get what you are saying. This park does seem to be more of a park for littler kids and supposed to be a family fun park. Definitely not Six Flags most intense park but more of a less intense one
