  • Namaste 🙏 So the problem with all materialistic philosophies is that they tacitly assume the pre-existence of something. They don't say what it is-that's why it's tacit. Well, for example, the Big Bang Theory of the scientists. The Big Bang is a huge explosion of energy. Now, where does that energy come from? They can't explain, or they don't explain; they simply assume that it was there somehow or other. And at a certain point in time, or maybe at the beginning of time, it just exploded: Kaboom! The Big Kablooey Theory.
Well, we don't buy that because it does not solve the question of prior cause. In other words, if there was something existing before the Big Bang, what was it? And how does it create the conditions, the situation for the Big Bang? Science is silent on this because it would have to be something non-material, given that the material universe is created at that point. They purposely narrow the field of inquiry to eliminate anything subtle or anything resembling consciousness.
In other words, they're atheists. This is their bias.

the topic here is how atheistic materialism cannot possibly explain the creation of the universe and its living beings.

Namaste 🙏🏼.. When you dive right into this knowledge and drop all other external nonsense. Meaning transcending the words and actually experiencing it for oneself + establishing a personal relationship with god (currently chanting the 1000 names of Mother Lalita). This leads very quickly to realization. Shakti actually revealed herself to me in her form as Saguna Brahman simply from chanting and turning the mind inwards. Although the biggest challenge i've encountered on the path so far is implementing the realization of Nirguna Brahman into the other states of consciousness, very grateful for this series Swamiji. 🕉️🙌

namaste 🙏 you're quite welcome gloryboy. "The proof of the pudding is in the tasting." dropping nonsense includes meaningless vapid arguments (such as we often see here in the comments), causeless resistance to devotional service, and useless procrastination. chanting _Lalithā-sahasranāmam_ is very good _sādhana._ She will reveal Herself, and out of Her love and compassion, in due course She will bring you into direct contact with Śiva: _nirguṇa-brahman._

    Namaste Swamiji!~🙏🌷🌷🙏
I think I roughly remember reading this in The Bible [not a Vaidik text, but maybe a parallel can be shown(?)], where it's said that, Jesus doesn't like The Lukewarm, those wavering in their faith. One should either be Hot or Cold, in our approach to God. ~
Somehow, a believer of both Scientism and Spirituality, never gets to any concrete conclusions on their own. It's like, being stuck, with no place to move. They are atheists, but they also feel that atheism isn't the end-all, & so they keep wavering.
(I used to be like one of those edgy 'agnostics' too...)
Great video!!~ It's necessary to come to the conclusion that Science really ain't it all!
    Thankyou!~🙏🎀🌸🎀🙏

material ‘science’ (from Latin _sciere,_ to know) is an overinflated term. it really should be called ‘engineering theory’ or something like that. it’s very good at discovering and developing basic technology for useful inventions-and this is one of the arguments they use to convince uninformed people that it’s true.
no: it’s a set of useful abstractions good for engineering, that’s all. they pretend to rely only on empirical experiments of the observable universe. so they why do they need religious beliefs like the Big Bang, for which there is zero direct empirical evidence?
once i did some editing for a contractor to Proctor & Gamble, a huge US manufacturer of household goods. i got fired for insisting that ‘profound knowledge’ could not possibly refer to manufacture of toilet paper!
so this is the problem with materialism in general: they grandly overestimate the value of their knowledge, which is really only good for trivial applications. it can never approach or solve the actually profound questions and problems of life, like “what is this world?” “why do we suffer?” “why do we have to die?” etc.

      @@ConsciousnessRC Thankyou for clarification Swamiji!~🙏
Another 'branch of Science' I've seen people cling to, when it comes to Consciousness is Parts of 'Biology'.
The theory that "Consciousness/Awareness" is a by-product & is dependent on 'having a mind'. How it was somehow created in line with us Evolving is still very well accepted, even amongst the scholastic groups.
I don't know where this view falls within the Vaidik Philosophy, but regardless it still seems like atheistic materialism...
      Thankyou!~🙏🌸🌸🙏

yes, definitely. the erroneous materialistic theory that consciousness arises from matter is impossible, because the brain or neurons are useless without the conscious living entity. OTOH, the living being is perfectly capable of existing and functioning without the brain and other gross bodily organs, as for example when it travels from one body to another at the time of death.
where are the gross body, senses, and the world they reveal, during dreams? it seems like every day someone comes up with a new 'theory of consciousness' based on neurological activity, but none of these theories can explain _svapna_ (dreams) or _suṣupti_ (deep sleep), something everyone experiences daily.

In considering the cause of the universe, please consider that the axiom “as above, so below” just might clarify things, as I attempt to explain as follows.
In text from the Chandogya Upanishad that Swamiji has highlighted - "0 amiable one, before its creation, the universe was but Existence (Brahman), one without a second" (Ch. VI. ii. 1), it is stated, "That (Brahman) visualized, 'I shall become many, I shall be born...' the sequence of creation is made clear: (1) Brahman (pure consciousness/Awareness) alone is existed before the universe was created, Brahman was self-conscious determining “I shall be born …”. (2) the process of visualisation alone by Brahman created/manifested the universe and its myriad forms/names etc. (3) the self of Brahman, as pure (undifferentiated) consciousness, drew upon the totality of intelligence/knowledge within itself to create into existence (ie to manifest) the universe, in order that what it first visualised was, in fact, created.
This process is exactly how a self-realised human being operates: (1) visualisation (the use of imagination to intend that something or other be created) draws upon (2) resources of itself as the Self of Brahman to (3) manifest whatever has been visualised.
Note, that no “big bang” is needed, that (1) Brahman alone as Creator “drives” the process; that (2) no physical action on anyone’s part is required. Science fails here because they (mostly) insist that science must be 100% objective, (no consciousness permitted) and the examples above show that creation of anything is initiated 100% subjectively (ie by consciousness) through the process of visualisation. As long as science denies the subjectivity required in any creation, it will never be able to reconcile both the subjective and the objective into solving any metaphysical issue.
We too often think the macro processes have nothing to do with how we as creators operate on the micro level. This is 100% not the case. Why would Brahman operate at the macro level to create the universe and we (as individuated instances of the same Brahman, remember) NOT operate in exactly the same way at the micro level?

excellent, Mike 🙏 thanks for pointing this out.
the Hermetic Axiom, as it's known in the West-"as above, so below"-is well-known in Vedic wisdom as the principle, "the nature of the cause inheres in the effect." so it's natural that when creating the universe, the conscious Brahman will produce conscious beings as Its effect.
_īkṣateḥ,_ the consciousness mentioned in _sūtra_ 1.1.5, _īkṣaternāśabdam_ can also be translated as thinking, knowledge, vision, wish, intention or desire. all these qualities arise together when _saguṇa-brahman_ emerges from _nirguṇa-brahman:_ "In the beginning this universe was but the one Self alone; there was nothing else whatsoever that winked (changed). He visualized, 'Let me create the worlds'." _-Aitareyopaniṣad_ 1.1.1-2
thus these same attributes are seen in the created living entities: "That (Brahman) visualized, 'I shall become many; I shall be born.' That (Brahman) created fire." _-Chāndogyopaniṣad_ 6.2.3 "Let there be light!"
