- Locker Nuts episode 581
After moving all of the stuff out of the $25 tool/handyman storage unit I bought, there are still a bunch of boxes in my trailer that I haven't gone through. One box is curiously marked "Priceless", and that title doesn't disappoint. Inside we find true family heirlooms, including World War 2 Prisoner of War medals. This is truly nuts!

The love letters are priceless. They must have loved each other so much.
@32discodave You sound like you'd be such a fantastic person to know.
Oh, those poor soldiers, seeing this makes me feel sad. What lovely cards and letters - they definitely don't belong in the trash.
Interesting video with junk and real treasures. When my inlaws passed their wartime love letters were placed in her casket and the family did not read them. They were for the lovers eyes only.
Another excellent episode! The soldier's medals belonged to Sgt. Thomas D. Mulhern, who served in the 361st Infantry Regiment, 91st Infantry Division. An article about him in The Oakland Tribune, June 22, 1945, stated: "Serving with the 91st Infantry Division in charge of a machine gun squad, Mulhern was captured last October 12 during a dawn attack on the Gothic Line, last mountain defense of the Po Valley in Italy. After being interned at a camp in Italy for four days, Mulhern was transferred to another camp just outside Munich via box car, with 50 men to a car. The trip took four days and four nights. Barracks at the camp were unheated, he said, and prisoners were never given a change of clothes."
All the military medals are priceless plus the letters. To bad the family let it all go.
I agree.
@Nicky L sadly we will never know
war medals are valuable - whole package is very interesting - give to Gettyburgh museum
very interested in it
It is really neat to see the letters from 1945, the year that I was born. My dad came home from his army camp to see me. That was 77 years ago. 😊😊😊
This is one of the most historically interesting ones I've seen. The sheer history contained in that one box would be worth a museum dedication. You might want to look into having someone evaluate that...😮
The little gold pin is called the “ Raptured Duck” by WWII Vets. It was given to service members after the war as an honorable discharge emblem to wear on civilian clothes.
Thanks so much Carol! I appreciate the identification of that piece.
I wondered for a long time thank you I appreciate you taking the time to let me know what that was about. I've had it since the '90s and got it on an old bomber jacket at the auction.
l thought the word was 'ruptured' as in ruptured duck
It is a, indeed, a Ruptured Duck as Marc Heuring indicated. It is a typo on my part. Thank you, Marc, for the corrections. 👍
So glad you don't have smell-o-vision! You probably couldn't hear me from Washington state but every time you picked up an Altoids tin I yelled at you "NOOOOOOOOOOO! Don't open it!!!!! But you opened it every time! LOL 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hope the next locker is "train" better...
Always save scissors. They may not mean much as collectibles but plenty of folks at flea markets will be glad to buy them.
Hi Jack. I had to laugh when you found the box of love letters. When you found the medals. That was Awesome !!!
@@katherineguthrie1558 No these messages are showing up all over UA-cam and are scammers. Do not reply to them.
@@bethb7965 I don't. Thxs for the heads up !!!
Oh that Priceless Box was certainly priceless.. as a scrapbooker and preserver of family memories it made my heart all fuzzy! I hope you find a good home for all of those treasures!
those old sissors are very nice.. they hold an edge better than the newer types of sissors.
Dressmaking Sissors are always worth saving. I was told by my sharpening guy that singer scissors are quality. Please find an organisation that may be able to reconnect the ww2 stuff back with family.
If the family can't be reached for the military honors please consider reaching out to Smithsonian so those items are honored. (Marine pilots daughter here)
@@kathyschwab9949 I also agree about respecting the soldier by contacting the Smithsonian, but as far as the family being disrespected, Jack is only telling the truth about the smell. He hasn't said anything about the people, just the smell. Who knows if that smell is from them not being clean, or if it's from sitting in storage too long.
@@manderson3231 these were clearly dirty people. Who are you kidding? Shameful the way they lived. I don't care if they were vets or not, shit was nasty.
Please try and find this family for their medals etc. it can’t be hard in these times with internet. 🌻🌻
Here we go again more nutty madness from the world of lockers........LET'S HAVE IT....JULES IN THE MIDLANDS UK HI AND A BIG HELLO TO ALL
My wife will say it’s a winner but she calls me a winner not sure how to take it😳 The Dig & Adventure You Take Us On Is Always A Win!! Be Well Be. Safe & Stay Blessed.
Sony Mavica was one of the first digital cameras. I remember it was about $1000. when it first came out in the early 2000s. They sell for about $10. now.
Those letters should've been handed to a museum that deals with the world wars. It's part of America's history. 🌻
I still use my Sony Mavica Digital camera!! I love it because it has a 10 X Zoom, and the clarity is awesome!!!
4:48 SCISSORS - I think YES save them. They both look like tailors shears. They can be very pricey!
I am sure with a little searching you can find someone to return that box to.
Locker Nuts, I would contact your local VFW or American Legion to help you locate this veteran's family. Also, the VA maybe able to help. They deserve to have those items back.
I went to Castro Valley High ( a long time ago) crazy times!
I would definitely save all those scissors.
Duck, duck goose made me laugh.
Auction off the box of letters.
That’s what you call love in that box of letters 😢😘🙏❤️💕
I was aching for a new Locker Nuts video, and fell asleep and took a loooong nap earlier. Now I'm stuck awake, and discovered a new video. Yay!
I'm only at the beginning, but enjoying it already!
I learned the hard way about returning peoples things. One of the young ladies told me that she was going to throw their stuff away. I went back and got it.
Makes me so sad that there is no family to carry the WWll honor, sacrifice and memories forward.
I agree. It's a shame really.
Maybe find a WW2 museum to donate those medals if they don't get returned to owner
That was exactly my comment. That is so true.
Mate you should establish a museum where you can keep and display these kind of findings.
You can see the difference in generations in this locker. Beautiful cared for love letters and war memorabilia all preserved then nasty clothes, mattresses and crack pipes.
What a dirty locker. I am glad you are finding a little something, like the ephemeral. It is too bad, that all the Kay boxes are empty.
When you tossed that change in the box, it looked like a SILVER dime.
The WWII stuff is fantastic. Might make a good book if scanned. Maybe a museum would be interested. Some units has dedicated museums, I know the 45th has one in OK. My grandfather was in the 157th attached to the 45th. His medals are cherished in our family. The few times he would talk about his service he said he "had been a guest of the Furer" I was still little when he died in 1975. I didn't find out until several years after his death that he was talking about being a POW. He hadn't wanted us grandkids to be upset. He was a genuine war hero. I've always been so proud of him and I've made darn sure that my kids know his story and understand.
Hard work for a few dollars. BTW my friend chronicled the WW 2 letters written home by her Dad to her Mom in a book. Just a thought.
Thank you so much for your videos
My daughter had that exact same Edeilweiss music box. My in laws bought it in Austria for her.
Singer scissors are vintage for sure - think sewing machines. They may need sharpening but they're good scissors. 08:10 the eagle pin is an honorable discharge pin, aka "the ruptured duck". 27:35 Knew it wasn't gold right off. That tab on the end means costume; tons of gold-plated chains were made in Korea in the 80s. The medals and letters were definitely the good stuff.
I think the chain @27:35 is a gold chain. The lustre and design make me think so!!
I sure there are a lot of unclaimed lost lockers due to so many of our people dying from the pandemic. If they had family they probably don’t know where things are stored if at all. Etc. Those metals and correspondence letters are truly priceless I think I would post something in the local newspapers and on line hoping. Someone in the family would claim it all. Can you charge a finders fee? Say like Fifty bucks. Something for your time and troubles but not too Steep that know one can’t get the amount together to pay the fee.❤
i would wash the clothes before I sold them. love the story of the wars peoples diary.
My guess is that this locker is multigenerational. Definitely do not believe the WWII vet had anything to do with the pipes. I hope that the medals find a home somewhere where they are appreciated. Obviously they weren’t by the people who put them in a locker. My dad served in WWII and his medals were honored. I can’t imagine treating them that way especially the POW medal!!!
I agree fully. I think this was the grandchildren of the WWII vet. Best I can tell they weren’t much older than me. I can’t imagine my life on drugs honestly. My heart goes out to them for their struggles, but at the same time they are the victim of their own decisions.
Yes multi generational some people don’t have time to pack they have no tme
Victims of there own decisions are you kidding maybe born into a really bad environment
Jack, they could have cut the necks out for medical reasons. I know I did it for my husband for comfort. He had cancer of the voice box so he had a trach put in. So that may be the reason for all the necks being cut out of the t shirts.
Be nice if in reading the letters etc you could find a museum to give the letters to where they resided
!!! the Dewalt battery!!!!
Ya know I was thinking ( I’m their age) maybe the horrors of pow & their love is all tangled ….so since I can’t smell it I realize it’s easier for me but let’s pray for them & their fam that didn’t claim those priceless items
When my late father was sorting his father's house out after he died, he came across 2bd world war letters to my nana, my father did the family tree, which had his dad's ration book.
Janna says no to the scissors! Lol
LOL
I love the time capsule.. Have you thought about maybe donating it to a museum that way their stories can live on
That gold crucifix 24:17 is probably from a casket. If one like it is found in the future, please include with “return to family” items. I lost my mom’s in a move and it devastated me.
Get a washer and dryer just for storage unit clothes. Toss it all in, sell what survives.
Take that wonderful information to a genealogy Library and the families will possible have a chance to retrieve it. So many people are into family history and it could end up in their decendants hands at some point.
If no family turns up for that memories box, a veterans organization or museum might like to have the war memorabilia. There are people who collect vintage letters.
those hangers are quilters friends for storing projects
Come for the lockers, stay for the dad jokes.
For a bunch of garbage, you were hysterical! Love your monologue---you're too funny!
Put dryer sheets in between several of the clothes to help with the smell.
Would love to read those letters 💚 so cool 😊
When I think all of those hangers I has!!!
If you send a Zippo lighter in they will make everything work on it and then some. They have a life time guaranteed. I know this because my friend send his in to have one thing fixed on it and they returned it in perfect working order & then some. He couldn't believe it! It was from the 70's or 80's. You or whoever buys it can send it in
I remember the Sony Mavica cameras well , used them all the time (still have a few somewhere in the house)
Books that look like are good for decorations people buy
If fishing/hunting books are by Isaac Walton they might have value.
I have letters that my grandfather wrote my grandmother and letters my dad wrote my mom..and even early 1900 post cards on my late moms side
contact the VA, or VFW, or local dept. of Veterans affairs
How can some people be so dirty! LOL
Sulfa trimethoprim is a broad-spectrum antibiotic, used for skin infections, respiratory infections, etc. Bactrim & Bactrim DS are the trade names.---I remember you've had one other nasty locker, worse than this one, just not as much in it.
Yuck! Thanks for the insight. These people had so many problems.
I had to go find a box of tissues on this one!
I would try to return that box, if possible.. so sad they left such family memories behind..
Mate you should establish a museum where you can keep and display these kind of findings.
That box is priceless. You should try to find the family. Do a search on Facebook etc. The family really should have those memories. Contact your local American Legion they might know the family.
I never contact prior owners for safety reasons. But I understand what you’re saying.
there a woman that collect old paper she would love that box of letters ( Paper and Moose) you tube!
Yes, se has a great channel. I've talked to her before when I came across ephemera.
Regarding the war time box , when we found someone ww1 and ww2 memorabilia we were able to contact RSL ( returned services league) as they can look up the service number and make it easier to find the family. Or try the war memorial society in your capital city near you . We had success, so might be worth a try . I’m in Australia 🇦🇺 and our RSL is still extremely active and very helpful , if the don’t find the owner they may like as memorabilia themselves. Good luck Ellen
At least they didn’t just pitch their butts on the ground. Can’t quite understand why they felt like they had to keep the boxes though. I carry tins like that to collect my butts in when smoking in areas without ash trays. Don’t like to put them in trash cans for obvious reasons.
O.K. Jack you gotta pay your dues before you find another train locker! (hah, hah) You took it pretty well
considering how bad it was. Love watching your videos
For sure! It's all a numbers game. Buy enough lockers and go to enough auctions, and you get lucky from time to time.
I'm wondering if things perhaps seem so dirty because there was a smoker in the house? Smoke leaves a yellow film and smell on everything.
The military medals could be donated to a museum that specializes in those items.
I love to see how much of the clothes sold
Not many. LOL. One of my worst loads to the market ever.
Justin boots are good quality. $150-$200 brand new.
Hello from Chiang Mai ! Here is the french nuts !
What a great video !
Even if it's not the best locker from a financial point of view, what a great discovery these letters...
We are waiting for the next locker, the next flea market or the next garage sale!
If it was me I would personally search out for the family to return these medals and letters. I'm sure the storage facility won't go past contacting the last telephone number they had.
I say why? If this section of family are addicts, they will sell what they can and get rid of what they can't. Then use the money for more drugs.
looks like the kids cleaned out the parents home after they passed, old folks are not big on cleaning and doing laundry.
The small pin that you found with the prison of war medals is one that I've only seen once before and it's because I have the silver version of it. I would like to know where it comes from and what it's significance is if anybody knows.
Thanks for helping solve that dilemma for me. Yeah I watch you guys all the time I like you a lot I like it a lot
Hey Jack: Been here a long time (watching your Videos) and That Wire thing is a something u would use too Dab with which is Highly Concentrated THC. Now I have never used that method but. I am a Medical Mary Jane User for my Multiple Sclerosis I will Tell you this that NOT ALL POT SMOKERS USE JUST TOOO PUFF THEIR BRAINS OUT FOR THE FUN OF IT!! 🥳🎉 It Helps, Me with my SYMPTOMS AND I Would Not Be SMOKING IT IF IT DIDN'T HELP! 😁 I Just Wish You Wouldn't MAKE IT SOUND LIKE IT'S SOOOO BAD Because if you had the Problems I have You Would Probably Smoking It YOUR SELF!! 😀
My main Problem Here Is You Continue To Bash The Green Stuff Just because you Don't APPROVE OF IT and I GET IT YOU Have a RIGHT Too Your OPINION BUT THIS IS MINE...😁
TAKE CARE AND TRY TOO BE A LITTLE MORE OPEN WHEN COMMENTING IN YOUR Videos.
"I'M JUST SAYING"!!!🧐🤓
OR THAN AGAIN DO WHAT YOU WILL!!😁
I have made many harsh comments about hard drug use... because drugs destroy lives and families. We sometimes see the aftermath of those wasted lives when going through lockers. It is tragic and sad. Anyone sensitive to that should not watch my videos. That said, I've never said I didn't approve of "the green stuff" or that it's bad. If you think you've heard that, then check yourself because you're wrong. I pass no judgement on those that want to smoke marijuana, be it for medical or recreational use. I think you should do what you want to do, as long as you're not hurting anyone else. For me, however, I don't smoke and rarely drink alcohol because I choose to do life as focused and clear as I can. My family deserves the best version of me that I can give them. Also, I consider myself driven and hard working, and those substances deter me from my course and distance me from my goals. But if I was like you and had medical condition that THC or CBD could help allieve, I would do it in a heartbeat, especially before using any product from a pharmaceutical. I apologize if this response seems a bit harsh, but I don't like to have someone misrepresenting my beliefs. You can agree, disagree, approve, or disapprove, but don't misrepresent me.
@@LockerNuts Well THANKS for Replying... And I would like to start out by saying my intention was NOT in ANYWAY BASH OR MISREPRESENT YOU I just noticed how it sounded and YES I have Heard You say that you don't pass judgment. But, I will Continue Too Watch Your Videos because, Your Style of going thru Lockers is So, different than others that I Like and I will continue to watch...
And also, YES - Drugs do mess people's Life's Up and it could have done that to me back when I was teen but I believe that GOD had a purpose for me and gave me the strength too not give into it.
With that being said disregard my previous msg and I will NOT BE BOTHERING YOU AGAIN! I'm really NOT into leaving msgs like that and MY BRAIN DOESN'T WORK TO WELL WITH MS.🤣
You All Take Care, and May Your Lockers Be PLENTIFUL WITH HIGH TICKET ITEMS $$ ! 👌✌😎
Love you Locker Nuts 🥜💞🥜💞
Thanks so much!
I like how you poke around in that cash box. I’m sorry Jack I’m laughing, I don’t blame you. I’d probably be doing the same thing. Ewe!
Yeah, I started getting a bad vibe from this locker... like this is the kind of locker that might have some syringes hiding.
Some vintage and designer clothing is worth cleaning. Clorox Bleach for Unbleachables will take stains out of anything.
If u can't find family, send to museum, check with VFW for guidance. I know the Smithsonian has a preservation arm for war time artifacts including the letters.
Things must have been much different back in the 30s if they had February 31st.😳😂🇺🇸
Hi.I really enjoy your videos. It's like unboxing mystery box. The brass container at 35:25 is called a surmedani in Arabic. It is used to store surma, which is a black powder used by muslim to apply in their eyes. It open by twisting the top filigree part. It has a rod which is used to apply the Surma in eyes. Hope you find this information interesting. Best wishes from India
i think the photo camera is pretty neat
Good luck
at around the 14 and a half minute mark i swear i hear mr garrison from South Park lol. .... drugs are bad mmmmmmmmkkkkkaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyy lol. love your channel man
LOL... for some reason I thought his name was Mr. Makey.
Oh, the GRIME! I feel like washing my hands and I am on the other side of the camera 😂🤣😭
To say the previous owners had some problems is quite an understatement ☠️☠️☠️ - and they let the parents' wartime letters go! 😱 And the medals 😱😱
@@jeno264 I think with all the drugs, smoking, and medical paperwork they may not be around anymore or in a nursing home. Although, It seems like the husband passed first. Of course, I could be wrong about all that. Either way, it's very sad people go down the wrong road and can't find their way out.
Should find out his unit during the war and ask the Regimental Museum if they would accept those appropriate items to enter into the museum in his name,
The lockers with drugs make me so sad. Seeing their grandparents love makes me wonder what took them down such a different path.
Those stamps are worth some money. Check them out.
Thanks Jack. That sure was an interesting one. See you next posting.
Zippo will fix there lighters. Used to do for free and I don't know if they repair free now or not. Maybe you just have to pay postage. You'll have to look that up. Lifetime guarantee.
Thanks! I didn’t know that.
Jack are you going to be at the DeAnza flee market 🤔
If you are I will be there and I have a story to tell you.
Lenny from the high desert in Phelan CA. Still on vacation.
call local VA to locate relatives of POWs
