I honestly feel the "damage to the livelihood of artists" is really overstated. It takes a lot of generations and careful wording to get anything specific (which is the main reason you'd get a commission) so it's usually far more effort to use AI over commissioning. It's like piracy in a way, the majority of people choosing to use AI over commisioning weren't going to commission art anyway.
