Songs such as these, while to me have remained favorites since they were current are often and sadly overlooked in the annals of R&R but the joy, the energy, the hooks..just go to show that even the so called 'trivial' songs of the 60's were imaginative, so special, melodic and different from one another...masterpieces.
I remember this song when it came out in 1969,,good high energy song,,,good times back then,,when the lyrics were so easy to u understand and sing these songs brings back so many memories foir me and family....

Little story. Ironically, when I was a teenager, I was homeless living with my mom. We lived in a motel. And I listened to this by the pool, with my Walkman, 1992 Orlando, FL
I was just watching the re-run of the Andy Murray-Thanasi Kokkinakis match at the Australian Open. Towards the end of the second set, the commentator said 'He tried every trick in the book in that game' - and suddenly all I could think of was Lou Christie. How amazing to see that other people have watched this ancient tune in the last couple of days. 1969, good lord, I was ten I suppose, absorbing everything - including great pop music.
Lou was blessed with one of those voices with multiple octaves, much the same as Russell Thompkins ( The Stylistics ) and Roy Orbison....and maybe a few others....brilliant.
Him and Frankie Valli could certainly Hit the High Notes! “ I want to make you mine” was the First 45 Record That I owned growing up and it was given to me by my Girlfriend who lived Next Door to me!

I've Ajay's loved this track. This video is delightfully kitsch ( look at the far left, and you seesomeone, who looks like they just came down for a dip, and really got into it). It's like Lou went down to Florida to visit his grandparents' retirement community ,in Boca. 'Honey; c'mere - Lou's by the pool, singing with those two nice young women (though they could were a bit more)! Before I pay canasta, I'm gonna go and have a listen - and tell himto stand up straighter! He's all hunched'. Sigh. Good fun, good music.
