Love the Sierra booktube era! Congrats on getting back into reading in a big way! Some of my favorite books of the year were Lost Stars by Claudia Gray, The Deep Dark by Molly Knox Ostertag, Snapdragon by Kat Leyh, Beating Heart Baby by Lio Min, The War That Saved My Life by Kimberly Brubraker Bradley, A River Enchanted by Rebecca Ross, and the Star Wars Doctor Aphra comics! Also reread one of my faves, The Scorpio Races by Maggie Steifvater! And some fave kids books you might like reading with the girls are Big by Vashti Harrison, Mole is Not Alone by Maya Tatsukawa, If I Was A Horse by Sophie Blackall, and Green by Laura Vaccaro Seeger.

Oh I LOVE The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs and Invisible Women! I really enjoyed Steve Brusatte's treatise on dinosaurs but I prefer his book about mammal paleontology and evolution. He's great at breaking down interesting concepts into something digestible. If you want to read a similar style of book on a different scientific topic, I suggest "She Has Her Mother's Laugh" by Carl Zimmer. It's this huge tome that talks about the history of genetics, the harm that it has cause by way of it being twisted into eugenics but also all the lives we've saved because of genetic research.

Definitely check the TWs before reading tho!

If you didn't like Bride but Kenzie is into shifter romance, you should absolutely try Worth His Salt by Rowan Wilder! It's by far the most creative and original shifter romance I've read, amazing world building, plus sized FMC (and none of the anatomy stuff you didn't like in Bride, haha - I know what you're talking about!). The sequel is so good too but I feel like you'd especially like this one because the main female character is such a powerhouse, and the body positivity stuff is really great.

I liked Icebreaker, but it annoyed me SO MUCH that the main character was allegedly working on a quad lutz! It’s like the author just googled “hardest figure skating jump” and threw it in there without doing literally any research. For context, no female pairs skater has EVER completed a quad jump of any kind at a competition. Even among singles/freestyle skaters, only two women over the age of 18 have ever landed a quad in competition, and they were 19 and 20 years old. (Most female skaters who do quads are prepubescent bc they’re advantaged by their smaller stature). Heck, quads are still pretty rare for the men too! If the main character was serious enough about it to actually be attempting to break two records (becoming the first pairs skater and oldest female skater to land a quad), she would not be going to college at all! Let alone hitting the club and going to parties and getting into the shenanigans that occur in the book

The Word for Women is Wilderness by Abi Andrew’s is a pretty good female self reliance book!
Also LOVED invisible women. It slaps. I work in data and I recommend it to everyone.
