Almost everyone has a sweet tooth, do you? Make sure to teach your children to use their toothbrushes if they have a treat. Plaque is not their teeth’s friend, it causes cavities! Make sure they brush their teeth and get that fuzzy plaque off. The Tooth Fairy loves to find clean, shiny and healthy teeth under their pillows. Proper brushing and flossing helps keeps their gums healthy too. A healthy mouth will help keep their whole body healthy.
Our fun brushing video helps kids learn good brushing habits and helps them learn to brush all their teeth. Talk to your children about plaque and cavities and explain why toothbrushes, toothpaste and floss are their smile's best friends. Make up some fun brushing games, make a brushing chart using stickers and go toothbrush shopping. Good oral health helps keep them healthy.
It is really important to show your children that you care about your teeth. Don’t complain or say you are too tired to brush and floss. Your little ones are watching you and are listening to your every word, stay positive. If you have experienced dental problems, make sure you don’t pass those negative emotions on to your children. One of our most important jobs as parents is to have our children learn healthy habits and skills and to teach them about the importance of whole body health. Eating healthy foods and watching out for sugary drinks and sweets will help keep your children’s teeth healthy and cavity free.
As parents we want the best for our children; by prioritizing good oral care we can help our children avoid cavities also known as tooth decay or caries. As parents we do not want to see our children suffer with a toothache. Tooth Talk TV provides a fun and informative way for you to teach your children about the importance of brushing and flossing. By brushing and flossing they remove plaque from their teeth and avoid cavities also known as childhood caries.
Get your baby used to having their mouths cleaned everyday with the tip of a clean wet cloth or gauze. Wipe their gums, cheeks and tongue. When their first tooth comes in around 6 months, a wet baby fingertip toothbrush or baby toothbrush can be used.
Once your toddler has learned to spit out, use a small amount of children’s toothpaste on their brush (about the size of a grain of rice). Make sure you are using children’s toothpaste and an age appropriately sized toothbrush. Toddler toothbrushes have bigger handles to help your little brusher get a good grip.
Make sure to help your children brush and floss until their able to do a good job by themselves.
6 months after your baby's first tooth has come in, or at 1 year old, you should book your baby's first dental checkup The goal is to have your child visit the dentist to catch any problems early. It's also a great opportunity to ask your dentist or dental hygienist any questions you have about your child's oral health care.
Children should have dental checkups every 6 months.
