@@RangerLifts i would also respectfully advise you to invest in a good v cutter, like a xikar. Makes it easy to cut and hard to mess up. I remember the first time I tried one with my buddy. We were at the beach on a guys vacation and we stopped by a cigar store and picked up what we thought we would like. (I picked up a very strong one, my first mistake) we got back to the hotel and sat outside smoking them. I smoked mine like a blunt until halfway then realized how sick I felt when I stood up...: never again. It took me about 3 years to try one again and properly smoke it and I enjoyed it. I now have a 300 ct cigar cooler with tons of cigars aging. Wonderful hobby.
I picked up an AF Curley Head the other day on a whim along with some others. It felt wrong liking it because it was 3 bucks but I really liked it. It was a pleasant surprise.

I’ve only been smoking since mid June. But, I watched so much CD content before that I was fairly comfy with everything but the light and got used to that pretty quick. Some people I’ve smoked with find it hard to believe I’m a newbie. Thanks to you I’m the guy that can answer most questions. I just take pride knowing what I’m doing and finding your channel has helped me excel and enjoy this new lifestyle.
Man you are helping me out a lot lol being a new cigar smoker thank god my brother has been smoking for years and has stopped me from making a lot of rookie mistakes
I store my cigars in a Rubbermaid clear Tupperware with an awesome tight seal and little clamps on it. I can see what I want to smoke before I open it and have a little humidity/temp gauge facing out so I can see it from the outside. I never seem to be short on boveda so that helps me save money and I can smoke more often
When started I used to take massive draws trying to produce large volumes of smoke. My cigars turned bitter and sour by the halfway point. I found small puffs make it last longer and keeps it from turning bad.
I have been going to cigar lounges for years. There has not been one time that I have EVER watched or cared how someone lit or smoked their cigar. I’m there to enjoy my own experience!!
On your last point, I was reminded of a chef who was asked, "What's the right wine to drink with Thanksgiving dinner." He answered, "Whatever wine you like to drink." I have a buddy who has often given me grief for smoking _off brand, budget cigars,_ often purchased in wholesale bundles. Meanwhile, as someone who savors the _ceremony_ of smoking a cigar, I'm quite content to enjoy _five sessions_ for the cost of his _one._ It's not like I'm settling for gas station smokes; I'm just saving the high end cigars for special occasions. Yeah?
Thanks for the video brother ! I think all it takes is doing some research beforehand on cigars and proper etiquette. There is tons of information online and in professional cigar books or publications. Cigar shops and other friends or associates who are really into the hobby. I never wanted to look like a tool and it was well worth the research beforehand to at least look like I knew a little of what I was doing ! Lol..
That was a video of a million words, what I mean by that is it was helpful and insightful in many ways. I was trying out some cigars I found one I liked and not long after I just gave it a break really. I'm looking to get back into cigars. I've only ever ordered offline, I don't know I just feel like I may be out of place at a cigar shop. And really only trust one online shop as of now called privada cigar, I've tried zeal cigar but card info was stolen after one purchase and really turned me away from cigars for over a year. Now I'm too a point that I'm looking into privada again, and also wouldn't be against other online shops in the US.
The best “humidor” I’ve ever found is a cooler. A coolidor, if you will. I’ve tried to maintain humidors and hate the daily maintenance. But my coolidor will keep my stash at a constant 69/69 for weeks at a time. As for noob moves, as a wedding photographer, I see a lot of the “let’s all smoke a cigar” thing among the groomsmen. The noob mistake they all make? No one has a cutter and they think biting off the end is actually a thing. I’ve actually started carrying a cutter in my camera bag to help them have a better experience.
Wow...I don't think I have ever watched other smokers enough to know or even care if they know what they are doing. For that matter, I never even considered my own actions. I sit in a lounge, enjoy the meeting of new people, generally sip on something and fully enjoy my smoke and the mini vacation. Where I feel personally inadequate is in my knowledge of tobacco, cigars and where they are from. I just remember the brand. I know I enjoyed it, give me another and I'm down. I'm 66 years old and been enjoying pipes and cigars for most of my adult life. Somehow, I still feel like a "noob". But couldn't give less of a shit.
I did not know what I was doing at a local shop however I just told they guy what cigar suits this mood or activity, like what would go good with a whisky or after dinner etc and he helped me out pretty good
Could you put the info for the cigar you are smoking in each episode in the video description? Really enjoy your videos BTW. It is refreshing to listen and learn from someone who is not "snobby" or "more classy than thou".....*cough *cough Kirby Allison... lol only joking, to each their own. Thanks again for the work that you do!
I went in to a cigar shop today probably 3rd time in my life, as a noob.but the one I went to today is in El Paso, Tx called tobacco tin and while I was In the humidor the manager of the store came in on his day off and helped me out. Showed me a few packs of 4 for $20 and telling me about some of them. Got back to my hotel and watched some reviews on the ones I got and just one of them in this pack is already half the price I paid. The gentleman was definitely helpful and talked to me like any other customer. Can’t wait to learn more about this industry and of course get back to Houston and light one of these up.
Im just gonna keep telling myself all the demonstration cigars he destroyed in this video were either ones he hated and need and excuse to get rid of or ones that were ruined somehow and needed disposed of.
I used to cut off more than adequate of the end before lighting. A friend taught me to only nip off a short bit, and I've saved quite a bit of cigar doing so.
Wow love the last one you saved I knew the cigars and I love the hobby and I’m not trying to act like I smoke cigars on my life because I don’t but I’m really into it now and the best one was the best that you laid out do what you like and cigars are there to support you not you to support cigars it’s a great hobby and I love your channel bro really enjoying all your Content
I'm glad i watch your videos before i really got into smoking cigars. Tim Thank you for everything on this amazing journey still new to smoking but enjoying every minute of it
Omg when you cut the cigar too deep and unraveled that was so painful 🤣 I’ve done that before though when I started out and I always wondered why my cigars flaked and unraveled… In fact, when I first started smoking cigars i did just about all of this lol. Never stored a cigar in a fridge, inhaled the smoke, or sniffed through the cellophane though lol. I also hate it when people criticize what people smoke too, the advice I always get from my local tobacconist when asking about different cigars is don’t overthink (because I always do) and smoke what you enjoy! Everyone has different preferences.
I enjoy the smell of cigars for the experience its going to bring to me before smoking. Its like smelling good food before eating, or good whiskey for drinking. I'm smelling a good cigar to try and impress someone or something. I recently took a wif of the Drew Estate Kentucky Fire Cured which to me did not smell so good, and then left it on the shelf.
Hell, I still sniff the wrapper leaf of cigars myself, but when I see people sniffing the cello, I feel like I HAVE to tell them... sorta like of someone has a booger hanging out of their nose. It would be unkind not to say anything. lol
One of my favorite cigars is 2.99. The box pressed villager Maduro sticks in the brown paper wrappers. They do tend to be a little hot when they smoke even if you smoke slow. But when I was new I just had it in my head that nothing under 8 bucks was gonna be any good
I once gave a cigar to someone who I thought was a regular cigar smoker. They cut the cap off perfectly, and then they started lighting the cut end!! That’s when I realized they are the type to have someone else bait their hook.
Also have been told to purge a cigar before you have to put it down for it to go out and plan to relight. Can't say that I have noticed a difference in the taste either way.
I finally broke the habit of flicking ash off my cigar. Surprised my dad and uncle never said anything about it since I always noticed them rolling the ash off. Probably because they just didn't care. Smoking with cool people who won't judge adds a lot of value to the experience.
One of my biggest and expensive mistakes was making too many box purchases before knowing what I will really like over the long term. I would have smoked more singles or packs to really know my likes.
I still have some "older" buddies that store their cigars in the fridge and even freezer. I can talk to them until I am blue in the face,,,, they don't get it,,, and they just don't understand why mine smokes and tastes so much better. LOL
Tip i learned the hard (and expensive way): the 70/70 rule isn’t universal, nor does it just depend on the type of cigar. Humidify to your local weather otherwise you’ll be puffing on water if you live in a humid climate. I pull the best flavor out of my sticks keeping them around 65% or lower because as soon as I go outside, the heat and humidity will balance the cigars RH….. and if you got Cubans they’ll mold at anything over 65😅
I always wondered why my cigars would unravel when I smoke them. Instead of putting a cigar out halfway I would just cut half the cigar off, but, always thought it would be cool to cut from the end that I needed to cut anyways.
Number 1 noob mistake: caring what other people think about how you prefer to smoke your cigars

I can see what I want to smoke before I open it and have a little humidity/temp gauge facing out so I can see it from the outside. I never seem to be short on boveda so that helps me save money and I can smoke more often
SmokeInn's monthly cigar club is a great way to discover new sticks.
I'm a huge fan of the Series V. especially after about 10 days sitting in my cigar humidor cooler
My heart hurts after seeing him stamp and crush the cigar.
Visual nails on chalk board
@@DReese8533 yup
and cut it like that
Seriously.
On your last point, I was reminded of a chef who was asked, "What's the right wine to drink with Thanksgiving dinner." He answered, "Whatever wine you like to drink."
I have a buddy who has often given me grief for smoking _off brand, budget cigars,_ often purchased in wholesale bundles.
I've had to bite em.. it can be done well.
You are amazing. Relatively new to the hobby and enjoy your attitude and videos a lot. Thank you
I went in to a cigar shop today probably 3rd time in my life, as a noob.but the one I went to today is in El Paso, Tx called tobacco tin and while I was In the humidor the manager of the store came in on his day off and helped me out.
Good video. Have seen a few of those blunders in lounges myself.
Digging the Flor de Cana hanging out in the background, by the way.
Im just gonna keep telling myself all the demonstration cigars he destroyed in this video were either ones he hated and need and excuse to get rid of or ones that were ruined somehow and needed disposed of.
Thank you, I do learn a lot when I see your UA-cam videos
People who put out cigars and save them for later has to be the worst noob move OF ALL TIME
Hilarious. Love the Liga sticks ! I love their Papa Fritas. Bought a box. A little bigger than these guys but a good short on the go smoke
I used to cut off more than adequate of the end before lighting. A friend taught me to only nip off a short bit, and I've saved quite a bit of cigar doing so.
Just getting started and found your video quite helpful! Thank you! Great video!
I'm a noob but I am learning...love it
I'd be lying if I said I didn't smell cigars through the celo when I was a noob. 😆
Hey I still smell cigars, I enjoy the smell at that stage🤷♂️... Just not through the plastic lol
Hell, I still sniff the wrapper leaf of cigars myself, but when I see people sniffing the cello, I feel like I HAVE to tell them... sorta like of someone has a booger hanging out of their nose. It would be unkind not to say anything. lol
I will smell the cigar because I enjoy the smell of tobacco. With the end open, I will smell them before taking them out of the cello.
I usually hang the foot out of the cello and give it a Biden before pulling it out and firing it up!
I love the smell of a fresh cigar and I do Biden it a bit ..... least I don’t sniff kids .... unless they smell like fresh cigars lol
One of my favorite cigars is 2.99. The box pressed villager Maduro sticks in the brown paper wrappers. They do tend to be a little hot when they smoke even if you smoke slow. But when I was new I just had it in my head that nothing under 8 bucks was gonna be any good
My eyes went wide when you smashed that cigar... then i shed a few tears when you cut the cigar. LOL!
Time Videos are wonderful👍. Tom’s advice is solid.😀
I cried on the 2nd cut, way to expensive in Australia to do that to
I love the way you never have ads on your videos 👍
Ordered Monday and got it by Friday!!! Including a boveda pack for free! You'll see me more often especially with those sweet sweet deals 😎👌
What you recommend for coffee pairing? Or sweet tooth?
I once gave a cigar to someone who I thought was a regular cigar smoker. They cut the cap off perfectly, and then they started lighting the cut end!! That’s when I realized they are the type to have someone else bait their hook.
This had me dying!
This channel is pretty sweet. Love this dudes energy
Also have been told to purge a cigar before you have to put it down for it to go out and plan to relight. Can't say that I have noticed a difference in the taste either way.
I can never relight. Always tastes like ass to me no matter what I do.
I want to move to the USA just to smoke Cigars with u,. M watching your videos since 2017 and I can't wait to do it.
Just the tip. Good multi-application advice. I think I can remember that.
LOL
Yep, some people are just set in their ways. You could set up a 'change my mind' booth and still not accomplish anything with those guys. lol
Love this list and ur mentality 🙏🏼💯
You had me at finger phuck..haha nice vid.
There's a time and place for everything. lmao.
When you stamped that thing out, I died a little inside. 😂😭
I'm writing a character that's a bit of a cigar enthusiast, these videos are helping.
It killed me to see you stamp out that cigar lol
Hey Tim! What do you think of cigar cabinets with automatic humidity and compressor? Worth buying?
Is it good to cut off the burnt port when your done smoking but wanna finish it later?
Great vid, love ur impersonations, hilarious.
Tip i learned the hard (and expensive way): the 70/70 rule isn’t universal, nor does it just depend on the type of cigar. Humidify to your local weather otherwise you’ll be puffing on water if you live in a humid climate. I pull the best flavor out of my sticks keeping them around 65% or lower because as soon as I go outside, the heat and humidity will balance the cigars RH….. and if you got Cubans they’ll mold at anything over 65😅
I'm watching this to be able to not make any waste and know how to do it. Very helpful, thanks
Thank you I enjoy all your stuff.
I always wondered why my cigars would unravel when I smoke them. Instead of putting a cigar out halfway I would just cut half the cigar off, but, always thought it would be cool to cut from the end that I needed to cut anyways.
Honestly smelling the foot of a cigar I can’t get much, but I can tell the difference between a really dark and full bodied cigar between a mild cigar
I’m from Tucson! I definitely know crescent moon smoke shop. I think my favorite is “Anthony’s cigar emporium”.
I hear really good things about Anthony's. Haven't been to Tucson in too long. I gotta get back down there and check out Anthony's.
