I am not a bulldozer operator but to save time and effort, I would have positioned the blade such that the soil previously dug to put those concrete pipes underground will fill the hole while he's running the dozer along the side of the ditch. This would have save him time and energy going back and forth and filling the hole about a meter or so each time.
