Another element of his style is simple, quality accessories; even with jeans and a t-shirt, his watch, belt, and shoes are always high quality and refined.
@@indyelviskenobi you’re totally right - I didn’t even think of that! His accessories were so well placed that you don’t even notice just how easily they set in with his total look. He seems like the kind of guy that has the sense to buy well and let them last them for a lifetime.
His late 70s and 80s vibe was the best, see his Star Wars and Frantic interviews. He looked like some guy walking 🚶 around today instead of way back then.
Couldn’t agree more! I’ll look for those interviews - not only for his style, but also refreshing to see a calm, honest celeb interview! His style hit this kind of sweet spot between old Hollywood and how we dress today. Such a relatable figure.
Hey thanks! He wasn’t always the top of the list of most stylish guys - but definitely had a cool dad kinda vibe! I’m glad you enjoyed watching - lookout for more to come!
Just watched both this and your new video on ivy style, and I am surprised that you don’t have more subscribers. The quality of your videos far exceeds many of your contemporaries on here - bravo!

Always feel when you see his workwear look it isn’t an affectation. As he was a master carpenter, i have read articles where the animals singer realised seeing a Star Wars billboard Harrson was the main guy who built the stages at the Monterey pop festival in 67, or Sergio Mendes talking of Ford building his music studio. When studying design years ago at the school of art Glasgow writing some piece on the use of iconic designs or locations in Sci Fi movies. I found an article highlighting Harrison derailing a press interview about blade runner by spending an hour critiquing and criticising Frank Lloyd Wright’s furniture construction ( used as a backdrop in the film) after a throwaway comment by an interviewer. Then another interview where he pointed was always insistent that shoes or clothing were functional and fit for purpose for the character in real life, Alden boots ( a favourite for his own workshop) , thick travel chinos, a leather jacket that could take a beating in which he could move freely and a proper satchel for Indiana Jones, a pared down efficiency of wardrobe that adds to the elegance of the fictional man he would inhabit. Also pointing out if the was going to be living in the clothes 18 hours a day for months on set they better be comfortable or he was prone to make those around him uncomfortable if he was. Even now as he ages comfort looks important as he seems alway pictured in Russell moccasins . You can tell spotting these articles means I am alway intrigued as to what might come to light when Ford appears in articles and media. Another great insight since I first spotted one of your pieces on linen.
Oh man! I think you just won comment of the year, my friend! I just learned five more insights in your comment alone! Yes I completely agree - he’s such an authentic person, which really is quite rare amongst other actors - that must explain his base level of exasperation in his interviews. And your points regarding his choices being highly considered with regard to quality, comfort, and function - it really has such a true honesty. Those words often get thrown around a lot in the workwear fashion conversations - but to your point, he has the actual work experience to back that up! But generally - thanks for those well researched points, they really do help to envision his thought process much more clearly. He’s such a unique grump, but one which you can understand quite reasonably when you see his logic.
@SomeNotesonStyle I'm sure I'm not telling you anything new, but another American actor to see interviewed is Gene Hackman. Perhaps it's something about being late(r) to fame ?
@@jaysterling26 hey now! That’s a good call! I would’ve never thought about him - but yea totally agreed. He’s always a defiant character and his style always seems in perfect lockstep with himself. @@Dakota-d4n I couldn’t agree more - I was the only kid in my school with a tie and a jacket - sometimes old classmates still come up to me and greet me - hey suit guy! 😆

Much appreciated! Good call! I was worried about the same thing- are my old slim fits, too trim? I’ve a got a few pairs, but I just don’t have the right wash. I’ve only got lighter washes, and I wasn’t sure if they looked too washed out with the dark jacket…thanks for keeping an eye out! 😉
