PLEASE bring this back. It should not have been cancelled over people’s assumptions of the show because the entire point of the show was to create assumptions and inquiries and question beliefs intertwined with the new world. This is seriously a top Netflix show and to hear it’s cancelled makes absolutley no sense. I hope another network picks this up.

The show is fictional it’s not about religion per se, it’s actually about what would happen if Dajjal, Antichrist, Messiah or Jesus ever did come back how would the world react. The most provocative, most honest series that is fiction but yet somehow seems inspired. Roma Downey, ma'am you and your husband have so much clout in the movie industry, you honestly don't see the importance of carrying on to at least a second season? even if we have to wait for 2 or 3 years until the pandemic is over? please consider holding this close to your heart and bringing it back when it is again feasible to shoot it. I'm an atheist, and yet I chose to watch this series objectively, with an open mind and curiousity.
Objectively speaking, the character Al-Masih of this series has not once professed anything threatening. His words only showed care for unity, justice and peace throughout the first season. He even admitted to be interested in bringing all religions and cultures together.
However, shockingly and against any immediate evidence, so many people are somehow so sure that he is some sort of evil creature with destructive purposes!
*Despite all this being only fictional, the comments from people are real! And that's what really shocks me!* It deeply saddens me to witness how so many people are still alarmingly and acritically ready to persecute and condemn completely peaceful individuals like Al-Masih in the Twenty-first Century, just because their man-made traditions told them to do so! It's almost as if the closed-mindness from many millennia ago never really evolved or learnt from the past.
They really need to ask themselves why are they so afraid of those who peacefully propose different messages than theirs if these are really not harming anyone.
I'm not even saying that he was a Messiah in the series or not. That's a different point. I'm just saying that if you factually looked at what Al-Masih really did or said you couldn't objectively find anything evil or threatening, and that's all you're really entitled to judge: facts, not unfounded and incoherent made up storytelling!

I love this show and how it includes all religion. So interesting to read the comments because it goes to show if a modern day messiah were to show up 90% of religious people would call him the anti-christ. I reminds me of was Al-Masih said in the show before he walked on water saying "look to your neighbor. Is the world an evil place or is it a good place? You be the judge of what comes next." This isn't the exact quote but something along those lines. Loved it regardless. No religion is correct, they are all based off the SAME story

Short review: Exceeded my expectations; hoping the show gets greenlit for Season 2.
Long review: I started watching this out of boredom and was gradually drawn in by the compelling performances of the main characters, notably Mehdi Dehbi and Michelle Monaghan. Somehow Dehbi manages to portray a seemingly enlightened, prophetic character without coming across as overly passionate, or conversely, flat or emotionless. I found myself remaining very puzzled right up until the season finale on whether this guy was a true prophet or a con. If you watch interview clips of Dehbi, he's obviously a human like the rest of us - he has little tics and uses hand gestures, and comes across as a normal guy. That contrast with the character he portrays here, who carries himself on-screen as perfectly compassionate and yet detached, like a Buddha, is even more striking once you see it. The on-screen image of Al-Masih is calm, lacking in pretension and without the negative expression of emotions that we humans usually stew ourselves in. His performance is really notable and must have been incredibly difficult. Michelle Monaghan gives another strong performance although I found myself frustrated with her character's stubborn choices, both in her personal life and in her dogged pursuit of Al-Masih, although that's not Monaghan's fault. She's good here although you may not find yourself necessarily rooting for her character. I have no idea what will happen in Season 2. Personally, I will say that if Al-Masih ends up being a con, I'll be incredibly crushed.
Something is true here, they doesn’t go to give credit to Jesus as Gibson do, otherwise the series was on everyone's lips and being criticized negatively.

That’s true I remember having a conversation once, if Christ came today who would believe him to say he is who he says he is? Especially walking up to someone, “hey I’m Christ.” 1st off people wouldn’t believe him, they would ignore him, and call him crazy. I don’t actually have a stand. Whether he is the messiah or not. But what I realized from watching the movie is that. At the start there was an innocent boy, who had put so much faith in the messiah, that he stayed hungry and decided to stay in the desert instead of following his non believing friend. His non believing friend then turned into a jihadist. Who bombed a mosque full of innocent Muslims. So who was right? The one who decided to trust the messiah or the one that turned againts him and became a jihadist?
