Janet has always been (and always will be) my favourite drummer of all time.
quasi always manages to make me feel better when life’s getting me down
How can a two person band sound so full and rich? Awesome music!
The best two person band of all time for me. I know some may have other choices but the synergy, musicianship, songwriting and their amazing consistency of pop chaos cannot be beaten. ALL HAIL.
The light/dark, hopeless/hopeful, contrasting elements of their music is so special 🖤🤍
Janet Weiss is a monster drummer. I remember trying to give her a handbill for my band on Hawthorne in PDX in 99 and she hipster denied me, I only lost a tiny amount of respect for her at the time but loved her more when I heard her drumming on The Steve Malkmus and The Jicks records.
you don't just go around taking things from strangers on Hawthorne.
@@chaddraizin6616 Haha it could be Ganja Goo Balls
@@brandenriddick6105 You mean Sam Coombs?
Been loving Quasi for 25 years now and holy shit they sound better than ever.
This was the first performance since the pandemic that guests were allowed back in the studio to watch. There was about 20 of us and I had never seen them but was blown away. Absolutely loved watching them perform these tunes. The guests are behind the string lights in a second room with a big glass wall separating the two rooms. Sound in there is amazing.
Knew nothing of this band but now completely hooked
Seeing these two in UK at the end of the month, and that just blows my mind. There’s no way I won’t embarrassingly fan out in a way that I later regret!
😮 where are they playing? Gotta search now
Don't regret it!
I did the same last time they played London in 2013... Helped them with their gear loading out of the back of Cargo and probably said some pretty dumb shit whilst doing so. It's all part of the process.
Im heading to Bristol, I live almost locally. Did you find a show near to you?
I love it. Not regretting it is an excellent option, one that I hadn’t considered. I’ve earned my hysteria with my years of dutiful sensibilities, I’m gunna take my shot! Thanks! I almost got old for a second there!
Great album. Love it! Instant classic.
Fuck me, this is really, really good.
Doomscrollers is my song. I love the lyrics!!
Amazing energy. Sounds just like a subtle variant of the album of the recording. Quite impressive
These two people get the Bad Ass Mother F#*Kees of the year award, Hands Down… Love Love Love!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Their both so great in both their aspects, sam with this fun funky piano and angsty clean voice and janet is just an amazing drummer with a great pairing voice, they both complement each other so well.
What an amazing band and such nice people.
KEXP sound engineers are exceptional. Other Quasi live radio appearances seem to have a harder time balancing raunchy sounding keyboards with the crispness of the drums. This sounds amazing.
Cheryl Waters is a national treasure.
Sam and Janet, thank you. We hear you and we love you. More, please! Don't hold back. Louder!!!
So cool! Absolutely loved this. Long time listener but first time seeing them play and it’s so fun to watch. Thanks so much guys!
So happy there's a new Quasi album to listen to on repeat.
Just the absolute best - the palpable joy. Bravo.
Thank you for playing Kingston, NY...made my YEAR!!!
Awesome performance!! Both beautiful and chaotic. Perfectly imperfect. Reminds a bit of The Doublejumps with the male/female vocal combo
Killer set guys.... Bring on the London gig! ❤️🔥
never heard of you guys before, you've got yerselves a brand new fan here, amazing!!!
Make sure you check out their 90s albums Featuring "Birds" and Field Studies as well as their new album.
@@alexstewart839 tanks my man, gonna be some new vinyl here
They were Elliot Smith's back up band in the late 90s.
Quasi rocks! 💗
Sam is the coolest and Janet is simply the best 🤷♂️
So much love for you two. Only band I would go see on my day off at fellinis besides add x.
F*cking digging this....a lot!
Just reminded me you need to get fellow Washingtonian drummer Sara Lund and Unwound on for a KEXP show.
I’d lose my mind. Her and Janet are my drum idols.
i just watched the kexp performance from 11 years ago and searched for more.
He looks as though he woke up late. Rolled right out of bed right into an Uber into the studio...
YES
Damn! That's good music.
Why those drums be sounding so damn good? Who gave them permission to be so cool?
Janet Weiss is one of the greatest drummers of all time.
Quasi take me away! Lurv them !
Out bloody rageoud
Quasi is the best
Quasi rules!
Wonder whether Sam has listened much to Soft Machine. He has a similar raucous keyboard tone, and his solos even sound a bit like Mike Ratledge's.
Nice.
_Dang!_
Cool drive, funny!
inverted postpunk don storer and cherry wainer
AEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Janet is God
anyone know what the pedal is on top of Sam's keyboard that he played with his foot toward the beginning?
It’s a theremin.
@@uteking thanks!
@@uteking Not a theremin. It's the Alesis AirSynth. Works off an infrared beam. Don't think they are made anymore. There was also a blue one that was the Air FX.
That drum lady is hawt. AND she's cute. :)
Piano man is a beast too. Good stuff.
Politics!!!!!
What is that keyboard he is playing?
Roxichord--not sure they make them anymore. Sam often complains about how hard it is to maintain
@@evanskike Very cool! Can't find any info on them really, must be very uncommon. What is that red tweaky pedal he plays with his foot?
@@evanskike I don't think he uses the Roxichord these days because it was just too much of a headache - he currently uses a combination of various MIDI gear and an overdrive box.
@@Baribrotzer thanks for clarifying! I wondered if he'd made a switch, but--while I play piano--I don't know anything about gear and production
@@evanskike Apparently he'd switched back in 1999 or so - the Roxichord, a cousin to the old RMI electronic piano, had just gotten too unreliable.
Lost me at "anti-vaxxers and climate deniers"
How would you refer to someone who believed in neither climate change nor vaccines?
Yeah really, kinda ridiculous I agree. I'm sure they know better or maybe they don't who knows.
