The way they implemented this soundtrack and the way all other sounds were drowned out by it was so good. It expresses that Joel is set on a single goal, and nothing else matters. He must save Ellie, no matter the cost. Losing a daughter again is not an option.
That transition from The Last of Us theme to All Gone (No Escape) was so smooth. I loved this track the most of the TV soundtrack, I think. It really changed the tone of the scene for me - playing the game this part can feel almost heroic. The TV version really doesn't leave any room for that - this is a tragedy that's going to have devastating consequences.
They sealed their fate when they decided to kill a child without her consent. Not only that, they screwed over the deal they made with Joel in the beginning and wouldn't even let him say goodbye. Also, the supposed "cure" wasn't even guaranteed, it was a maybe. Besides, the "cure" does nothing when the zombies tear you apart. It was only a tragedy for the Fireflies, they fucked over the wrong man.
@TyrDrum The answer may be "simplified": Joel narrated the story of failing to commit suicide due to loosing the sense of life for passed away daughter. Fireflies effectively reproduced the situation. I'm sure if he walked out of the hospital, he would complete his unfinished business because it would be unbearable for him to loose it for the second time. So, from the perspective of him, Joel made everything right: he took his last "impossible change" to make everything right for himself or die trying.
@@TyrDrum the game left it more ambiguous. Joel came across as more of a hero. And as the music swells, so does the violence, mass slaughter juxtaposed with extremely solemn beats that clearly reflect the tragedy of what's happening onscreen. What a scene!
In the game he kills more brutally like instead of shooting the doctor he grabs the scalpal and stabs him in the throat. He also shoots the Guy who says "F**k you" 4 times until he says where ellie is

I'd fight for her. But to REALLY see what that means. That from most people's perspectives (the people in that world, not us as an audience) you become the "bad guy".
While its a bummer to not see a lot of action, i think it was for the best. This scene probably had the most violence, or the horde from ep 5, and it makes the choice feel so much heavier. Wonderful adaptation. Here's to season two!
the scene where in all the infected erupted from the cave in, it was a better show of how dangerous these infected are in large groups and how they overwhelmed humanity with their equipment. the bloater then made the scene whole (especially if you've seen them ingame on the harder modes), i feel like i haven't seen any particularly dangerous "monster" in many series or games recently, it is a bummer because i love the thrill and dificulty aspect of a apocalyptic world like this and it tends to fall short on the horror of it all

And because he has failed to save the people that he loves, he will do ANYTHING to save Ellie NOW; even if that means that he absolutely massacres the Fireflies, and THAT is absolutely horrifying.
Thankyou universe....for this series...a new series with great imdb...feels like a true blessing
Should have that background alarm going too, WeirWeirWeirWeirweir
Stellar job on the soundtrack
I will only say one thing, I needed it, thank you
Never try to take away the daughter figure of a father that already lost his daughter...
Grogu: Daddy go, save little sister you must. Space trip to McDs we will go.
I know I'll get some flack for this. We always say, "of course I'd choose my loved ones." I can't say that if I was I was in Joel's shoes, having gone through the same, I would give Ellie up. I'd fight for her. But to REALLY see what that means. That from most people's perspectives (the people in that world, not us as an audience) you become the "bad guy".
I don't care about becoming the "bad guy" when I know 99% of people would do the same if it was their love one on that table
stop please i'm crying
You realize you can pause right?
@@SomeGuy-mt4hq no... i don't
@@hellodepressi0n well merry Christmas. The more you know
from the middle to the end, it reminded me a lot of the game of thrones soundtrack, especially before entering with the guitar
Really great visual. Thanks.
Just the saddest music damn you Gustavo...😭
I understood Joel’s pain. I would of done the same. I love my family and friends. If I gotta go through hell then I will.
i need 10 hours of this on a loop
While its a bummer to not see a lot of action, i think it was for the best. This scene probably had the most violence, or the horde from ep 5, and it makes the choice feel so much heavier. Wonderful adaptation. Here's to season two!
Joel had the watch till his last scene in TLoU2. It's so heart breaking how much he still misses his little Sarah.

The song hits me with those Metal Gear vibes. 💚🫰
Never underestimate the lengths a father will go to in order to protect his baby girl.
3:10 holy 🔥
Wooow, good job my friend!
Thank you!
This music has both a beauty and darkness to it and that's just like the scene, Joel is doing something terrible out of love.
the scene where in all the infected erupted from the cave in, it was a better show of how dangerous these infected are in large groups and how they overwhelmed humanity with their equipment. the bloater then made the scene whole (especially if you've seen them ingame on the harder modes), i feel like i haven't seen any particularly dangerous "monster" in many series or games recently, it is a bummer because i love the thrill and dificulty aspect of a apocalyptic world like this and it tends to fall short on the horror of it all
Such a masterpiece to listen too
I love this version of the song because it has this essence of this decision will be Joel's down fall. This choice will have ripples and that through saving someone else you have damned yourself
This part at 1:07 actually sounds better in your cover than it did in the original episode
I think the original was being more grounded and gave a bigger beat
@@thegerman662 The piece they used in the episode sounded like they truncated out a part of the soundtrack, and used a crappy fade effect to blend in the two smaller audios. Maybe most people didn't notice, but as someone who's listened to All Gone (No Escape) countless times I thought it could have definitely been more polished lol
@@SceneSurgeSnippets I played the original game when it came out and have all the versions. I was there when the remastered version came out and Part 2. I never forgot all Gone (No escape)
The way he effortlessly dropped Abby’s dad in this show had me dying…lol
To be fair for me this theme sounds like something that could perfectly fit into the Metro 2033 live action series - there is perfect balance of dread, despair, anger and... hope I guess. Hope for better tommorow, like desperate grab for something thats making us humans. I don't know but as an Metro fan I would love to see an adaptation like this for that franchise but thats unlikely - as for the theme itself - its amazing.
Not familiar with the Metro franchise, adding it to my list:)
That's great actually!
There is a lot to Discover.
Check out themes like -Metro 2033 Main theme, Mobius theme from Last Light, Farewell, Sunset, Race Against Fate.
All of those gives a Vibe of this theme for me
Thanks for the recommendation !!
@@simus479Metro Exodus - last version 2019
I wish there was a metro Exodus tv show, it will be so fascinating to me as a fan
Any show that does this, has somber like music with no voice while the character is doing something it's automatically deep. Because we don't need to hear voices, just the music telling us what the character is going through.
one of the best extended version
It went from feeling like the hero and gunslinging in the game to an outright depressing grief-struck sequence
I love the scene because it's not only fuck badass but also show how Joel it's not a good guy, he's a broken one
The music is telling us that Joel's fate has been sealed in Season 2.
Wonderful arrangement, well done!🥺♥
Thank you!
CHILLS. even without seeing what's happening.
Glad I to hear this on UA-cam
Joel was IMO justified with every single shot he took
Absolutely brilliant, thanks for this. Broke my heart for the 6th time.
Fue una serie perfecta, la primera que me enganchó de principio a fin.
Best Final Theme Ever!!!!!! :,)
Reminiscent of Final Ascent, quite fitting.
neil druckman wanted this to be a scene where you’re supposed to hate joel. not a chance.
