Love Rory winning, as a Northern Irishman this is fantastic. Rory driving well is a blessing we should enjoy. Fingers xx for his season! Saw Phil interview LAV it! Last week Phil playing UA-cam with Horvat and Johnson brothers. Phil after bad shot: first time in 4 years I was wrong. DJ: so you gave up gambling as well! Great pod as usual.
#asklav with the WM Phoenix Open, I remember last year there were bad monsoon rains and they had to play 36 on Sunday and crown the winner before the super bowl. Do they think also the weather played a part on why the littlest things set off the players. It felt like as a viewer, a lot of players patience was running thin cause they didnt even have time to eat, they had enough time to sign their card change their clothes and get back to the tee? Will the changes they make this year help make the tournament easier for players to play?
I do not think Phil elaborated enough. You guys are nuts if you think the fan experience -specifically for young fans - is the same. The kids zones at pga tour events are sad and from my experience getting sadder. Liv has a true fan experience. For Older young people they have concerts. They have awesome hang out areas that do not require extra tickets. The music creates a fun environment for you people and a Les stressful environment for parents. I’ve been taking my kids to pro golf events -pga tour, lpga, usga and more for 2 decades-as a way to motivate them. But sometimes the events as run by the establishment literally turn young people off to the sport. Liv is consistently providing ways to make young casual fans get into it. It’s no comparison. The pga tour more than anything they have copied Liv-and they sure have copied a lot -should be copying kids fun zones and cool concert, and areas fans can be loud more than anything. But not this nor the team concept is why Liv will be successful. The reason they will be successful is the same reason from the beginning of this whole saga: they have a whole lot of money. And because they were so insulted by the likes of Rory and jay and GC so much so often they are extremely motivated to compete.
@ my 3 will go but never ask to go to pga tour events unless it’s to make some cash looping the pro ams. But all 3 would go back to the masters in a second. The masters may not have music and all the things Liv has, but like Liv it has a superior fan experience to the pga tour. All kinds of little things that make kids want to come back. Point is there are a lot of ways to create a great fan experience for young people. The Tour norm from my experience is a couple of lunch wagons and maybe a first tee tent. I think lounge areas is huge for golf. Places people can rest and get refreshed. Cool down or warm up. I’ve seen this on the European tour and on liv. Sometimes on the lpga.
I believe public shaming slow players will 100p help. I remember Patrick Cantlay last year with fans showing up and timing his swings in person. If Tom Kim becomes labeled as a slow player, the public shaming will definitely increase and I don’t know how you could then say that wouldn’t affect him. Especially if the shaming leads to his popularity decreasing and becoming a “villain”.
I think CBS and the media were very happy to have that leaderboard. The superstars need to show up more outside of the signature events so the media cares. It felt like to me the pace of play is really an issue cause Dottie Pepper didnt like the final group at the Farmers. Harris English played in her mind 18 holes of the most BORING golf to win. IF you notice on CBS there was not 1 complaint about pace of play. Final group went off at 115pm finished by about 6pm. 4 hours and 45 minutes. To go back to Tom Kim, I remember on Saturday it took Scottie 3-5 min to play 18 cause he hit his ball on the beach. IT feels like if the superstars take their sweet time nobody complains. God forbid Tom Kim takes a minute to hit a shot. I blame that on the production side. If there were issues waiting for Tom, they should have went to somebody else.
Irish government is now officially looking at sending Rore's and Lowry to help Trump's golf form, but really, it's only try to spare us from tuff EU tarrifs coming down the tracks.
Bro, give me a break. Rory has won like twice on the PGA tour in like the past four years. He’s not what all of you hope he is and never will be. Enough with the Rory glazing, he’s a CHOKE ARTIST! call me when he wins five times in one year and one of those wins is a masters. Oh and by the way, out of the 13 tournaments Scottie played last year 11 of them were top tens, eight of them were top threes, and he had five wins. Remind me of Rory’s season last year? Buddy has been irrelevant for years.
Irrelevant is too strong. But for how much yapping we get out of Rory -not to mention flip flopping -and drama-there should be a lot more wins like this.
LOL......27 wins on PGA Tour 18 wins on Dubai Tour 4 majors etc.. Yeah thats some CHOKE ARTIST. MAybe stick to NASCAR or something. You clearly dont know Golf
@ lol choked at the masters twice and choked at the open. He’s been on tour for what… 15 years? And most of his wins are on the IRRELEVANT dp tour??? 🤣 Scottie has 18 wins and turned pro like 6 years ago. Sorry your favorite golfer is a wash out and never lived up to his potential. We can keep talking stats buddy but it’s pretty clear that you are the nascar fan and need to stop coping for a guy who was relevant 10 years ago
LIV set up a league that had rules that flew in the face of long-established golf rankings. It was pure hubris. Should the rules change? Absolutely, but all those dudes who went there had to do was have their attorney's read the OWGR rules and tell them they wouldn't get points. They chose a bag of money. They wanted their cake and to eat it too. And the people have spoken. The Creator's Classic which aired on Wednesday at the FedEx Cup Finals week had more people watch it than 99% of all LIV broadcasts. That's just a fact.
LIV is exhibition golf. Fifty four holes of fun and games. Nobody on LIV is going to drive five hours Friday afternoon to tell their wife that he made no money. It's not real. Fake bullets. James Bond. Green screen Ai. No thanks.
Basically yes. The golf channel and pga tour are partners. But to their credit these two try to appear impartial or to be somewhat fair to Liv; mainly because on UA-cam it is not smart to blindly hate on Liv because you tube is where people went when they got tired of the golf channel anti Liv stuff. Let’s Remember Liv is a prosperous elite tour with many the best players in the world. And they are entertaining a lot of fans who dislike how the pga tour is presented.

Brandel is the one who said that Rory needs to win more on iconic courses.

Forget LIVs future or whatever these guys were griping on, but the fan experience at a PGA event can absolutely suck! Especially with children!

Love JD to bits but Lav his grocery bag like golf attire and it needs to calm down a bit 😅
looking back the last few years, Rory always grabs and early win bolster his point standings.
At his best Scottie doesn't come close to Rory 😂😂

@ you just proved my point, the Rory glazing is real!!! 🤣🤣 these ppl are delusional!!!!
@@arnshg2881 Buddy....stop posting about Golf....you are clearly CLUELESS
I actually dislike how negative these guys are about LIV. Does the PGA pay yall?

then you simply don't watch the podcast. these two are about as pro-LIV as any mainstream analyst team.

@@wbwright79 and i guarantee we'll be discussing it in a segment on next week's TV show.
