I have a problem with the K3 with disabling sleep mode on MAC OS. In Windows, it is solved by modifying a driver file to disable sleep mode. I don't recommend it if you have Mac OS.

İ have focal celestee and fiio q3, i wanna reach focal's potencial. What Should i do, Is k3 the solution?
Yeah the power of the k3s could be enough for the nanna 2.0 but i can hear noticeable improvement with the nanna on my shanling m8 on the the turbo gain (full 840mw) vs the high gain (260mw). They definitely scale with the power. But on the high gain they sound good still. So in this device will I recieve better value in the sound than on some dongle dacs, lets say the shanling Ua2 or the hidizs s9pro, the DFR or the fiio KA3? :). Can the fiio K3s beat them in the sound? Or the only advantage is that volume knob? 😃

in the reviews of a post of amazon of this product a guy did it, look for it, long story short, it worked for him, whatever thing he did.

I've been thinking about buying the Fiio BTR5 but then I saw this Fiio K3s, and out of curiosity I wanted to compare them. The pricepoint is almost the same, so it was kinda odd that the BTR5 was going to be better with a battery inside and the same price point.
Well, after a lot of research, I discovered that the E10K USB C has the same chip than the BTR5, and just like this review says, the E10K is inferior to the K3s.
I went to amazon, ordered it, and now it's here with me.
It sounds amazing.
My main goal with the BTR5 was to have it wired to my PC all the time I use it and to use it on my phone when I wasn't on my PC, just to listen to music for a while on the couch of my house.
I already own a pair of bluetooth cans so my goal with the BTR5 was to use it at home all the time.
When I found out that the K3s has a better sound quality, I did the jump on the idea, I did the change.
And I don't regret it, the improvement in audio quality is worth it.
With this said, if you don't want the bluetooth capabilities of the BTR5 and you don't mind a little higher battery drain (which means that you just use it when you listen to music), go and get the K3s!

How noticeable is the K3's impact on your phone's battery life? The reviewer also mentions that audio quality seems to improve when it's connected to a computer. Does this match your experience as well?

@@huckleberry_spin7470 the K3S' impact on my phone battery is there, it drains the phone faster and you can feel it. Honestly, if you charge your phone every night and you use it just to listen to music for an hour or two, it's fine. But if you plan to use it all the time while watching videos on UA-cam or even playing games, then I don't recommend it. I would recommend getting the btr3k or the btr5.
Now, talking about sound quality, it does a big improvement as expected, and it's sounds spectacular no matter if you use it on PC or phone.
Do I recommend it? Yes. It's the best audio DAC for 100€.
Is it the best for a phone? I don't think so.
If you want to enjoy music in your PC and phone with just one DAC, then yes, this is better and higher quality than the btr3k and btr5.

Is this a good DAC/Amp to drive the Tin P1? I'm already using my P1 on the Fiio BTR5 through 2.5mm Balanced output (240mW) - But I think they can do with a bit more power. Your thoughts?

Want to ask if for comparison Fiio K3s and Topping DX1 which is more eligible? And which one is better?
i was with the same question i ended up ordering the DX1, and sound amazing, you can throw any sound with good definition in tidal or amazon music or youtube audio compress and hold so good to always have the sound balance and punch, but i returned it cause was no ON/OFF and still like 10% warm the DX1 even if i was not using it.

I haven't heard the nxs4 so as for sound I can't say whether or not it's an upgrade. Maybe better performance out of K3s 2.5mm output. As for features nxs4 has a battery, K3s does not. However, K3s has 2.5mm balanced output, Type C, optical, coaxial out and a higher SNR. I like the lower profile of the nxs4. Thanks for watching!
i just don't get why Fiio didn't put the same switch on the mors expensive K5 Pro for UAC 1 and UAC 2 which will allow K5 Pro to be used on consoles and any devices that works without drivers very stupid plus coaxial and optical out would've been nice these would turn K5 Pro into AIO Best in class for power and bang for buck
Thank you for this review. But don't you think it is just a bit misleading to describe this as a portable DAC/amp? If Fiio had this in mind, wouldn't they add an internal battery as they have on their actual portable DACs and amps? This one would of course drain the battery on your phone. Which means their are lots of better options if the intent is portable use from Fiio.
I own the original K3 and I think it's great, specially since you can convert usb to optical/coaxial. But for portable use I would choose the Ifi Hip DAC every day of the week.
can i use this as a dac and use topping l30 as an amp?
I'd like to know this aswell. It has a 3.5mm line out but it says its 1.9v on the website. I know "normal" dacs output 2v or 2.1v but not sure how much of a difference that'll make.
It would work, but I'd recommend something like a Khanas Tone Board 2 to pair with the L30, tbh

Will it drain the smartphone battery too much, since it dosent have any battery?
I use one with my phone it's not too bad on the battery though I think I have old version. I does get warm when using with my phone which it doesn't with a laptop. Maybe the power improvement may have help this.
Hi, I'm pretty new to the world of audio equipment. I was wondering if someone could confirm whether it is possible to plug in some PC speakers that use a 3.5mm jack into "Line Out" - to use the K3 as an external sound card. My PC has been having some audio issues. Thanks!
Yes that is what the line out is used for. I have 1 remark about this dac tho. The volume wheel also control the line out volume while the e10(k) didn't.
Altough it could be handy when your speakers don't have a volume wheel themselves.

And the volume wheel only controls the 3.5mm at the frontside.

Does this color the sound? I'm asking because I have DT 770s and they are great but they are too bright for my liking. Would this warm up the sound a bit?
I have both and would say no. The DT770 are quite sibilant to many ears I would look for different headphones first. But your experience may vary!
Toslink/Optical IN would have been good to use for TV sets.
I think that would just be bad for fiio and the k5 pro

E10 k is more powerful...200 mW in 32 ohm vs 120 on k3s
Except k3 also has a balaced output of 200 at 32 ohm
What a long winded unfocussed and rambling review. I had to listen to it at 1.5 times speed to make it vaguely bearable. Constructive criticism: Write some sort of script or bullet point list and practice delivery so that you don't have to use er/um every second word. Also the background music is too loud compared to your voice and especially at the afore mentioned 1.5 times speed it sounds like a metal chandelier in a hurricane making obnoxious metallic tinkly noises. Good information but the delivery needs serious optimisation.
