Man I miss the stars power Serie A had back then. 90’s to early 2000’s was definitely the golden era of Italian football. So many world class players and many great coaches. So technical and tactical at the same time.
80s too. Maradona, Van Basten, Gullit, Platini, Zico, Cereso, Junior, Baggio, Baresi, among others. Italian league was the best in the world from the 80s to the mid 2000s. Pretty much what PL is now. But somehow it feels different. Football has changed, and today's stars don't look as shiny as they used to do in those decades
When you can talk to gattuso this way you know how great and respected maldini was!! in the other side it has improved the esteem that i have for gattuso for respecting legends in spite of to be known as an agressive player who can tackle even his mother and father if they are on the pitch!!
1988 was the 1st year my granddad took me to San Siro. In my lifetime, I've been lucky to witness many great players play for Milan, but also a very tiny minority of elite footballers as well. Players who combined top level natural ability with handwork, desire, passion, heart and pure dedication to our colours. Ringhio is one of those very few players. Like Franco Baresi, he will remain in the hearts of Milanisti for eternity. Game after game, and season after season, he gave everything. It doesn't matter if it was a champions league final or an away game in Bari, his dedication was always on point. That insatiable need to stay humble and always give your best is not something you can buy or teach. Some human beings are just born with it. Ringhio per sempre uno di noi 🔴⚫
Gattuso, one of the hardest working players I ever saw. Loved watching him grow from Rangers to Italian national team. Last of the old school players who gave it 100% every game. He was all in… my kind of player.
@@monkeytennis8861 I assume you're British because you used the word 'rubbish'? British people are praising mediocre players like Lampard, Gerrard, Henderson and Milner. So please save it..
The fact that his entire face just immediately goes back to semi relaxed as Gattuso turns away shows you how well he knew what energy certain players responded to.
Loved the mutual respect football legends showed one another back then, Maldini was truly remarkable a player, miss that golden age, an era blessed with such rare talent & skill, wow..what a time that was, exceptionally pure joy 🤓🤗
Thats a captain. Gattuso was a take no shit from basically anyone type of player but even he listened to Maldini and Nesta. He understood what those two have done and were continuing to do for Milan.
For the uninitiated, I say it because I am 🇮🇹, Maldini started a fight with a part of the south curve of the San Siro after the final in Istanbul against Liverpool. On the day of his farewell, he was contested, fortunately by a few, but it happened. I, like many others, cheer for the "enemies", Inter, but we have always had respect for him, so one is born every 300 years. Maldini è una Leggenda.
The amount of respect the players had to each other back then. Even an explosive player like Gatusso had a respect for his captain. Oh I wish the football was the same nowadays.
My god I miss players like Gattuso. As a Swede I also enjoy Stefan Schwarz who was a Swedish national team midfielder in the 90's and early 2000's. He broke his leg in a national team game back in -99 or -00 but he refused to substitute. He actually kept stumbling around for while with a broken leg. Such a hero! 🇸🇪💕😄
yeah, stefan schwarz was a great player (especially in italy). the kind you need in every midfield… (my favorite swedish player of my youth: glenn strömberg he was fantastic).
Maldini was the only Gattuso would listen to. And Maldini knew it. You can't see it clearly in the video but he actually left his position from far away to come to talk to Gattuso and maintain much needed peace. Sheer legend.
Dida was horrible, Inzaghi alright. Kaka just a few years in Milan. Maldini the only true legend. Shevchenko was great. Nesta very good. Gatusso a warrior. Seedorf, not that reliable, I was happy Real Madrid traded him (I´m Madrid fan).
