Enjoy the Tax Act Texas Bowl, Houston is beautiful this time of year.
To me, the Texas-Alabama game and the Texas A&M-Alabama games had a very similar feel. The Aggies weren't playing a dramatically better team than Texas faced, and they didn't play them all that much worse than Texas played them. The difference was in fractions of seconds -- the fraction of a second longer that Quinn Ewers got in the pocket, and the fraction of a second less that he needed to make good decisions. That's not to say that the Aggies deserve anything for playing tough, or that Texas doesn't deserve their playoff berth (though Liucci makes a good argument). It's just to say that these two teams are not nearly so far apart as their records would appear to indicate, and I look forward to the thrashing that the Longhorns are going to get from the Huskies to end 2023 and (hopefully) from the Wolverines to begin 2024.
Rough weekend to be an Aggie. Hopefully things will look up soon. Gig em
Texas had a better strength of schedule than every SEC team outside of Alabama.
Harder than auburn Kentucky Tennessee?
@@justinthomas7313 Yes, actually.
Sagarin SoS rankings:
Texas: 4th
Auburn: 32nd
Kentucky: 47th
Tennessee: 45th
For reference:
Kansas: 21st
Kansas State: 11th
Cincinnati (weakest B12 schedule): 41st
The SEC's cowardly OOC scheduling is just pathetic.
Edit: CFB Reference uses different figures but still ranks Auburn's SoS right behind Kansas's. They list Cinci's SoS between Tennessee and Kentucky.
Now, as an Aggie, I am in the unenviable position of rooting for UA and tu in Rd1 so they can play each other a 2nd time in the finals.. Mainly because I like the rematch story and because it will piss off so many people.
As a UT alum/fan, I used to attend the Cotton Bowl when the Aggies were the SWC champion.. The Aggies sitting around me couldn’t understand why I was there rooting on the Aggies.
Gig Em! Texas bowl for 2023, now let's really shoot for SEC championship for 2024 and whatever bowl we get with that. Gig Em!
More teams have risen and fallen from National Prominence faster than Texas A&M has risen to mediocrity.
But A&M will never fall as low as you!!
@@stinger76262 It's dumb when people try to use opinions to refute facts.
What makes it weird including Texas is that the committee never had them as a top 4 team all season. They were 7th. How does a win against Okie lite move you up 4 spots?
Huh? Is this a real question? Maybe bc Oregon Georgia and osu lost and Texas convincingly won the conference championship?
Who thought it was a good idea for Olin to express his opinion?
After watching all the conference championship games, I heard lots of portals on the field.
...who is coaching the bowl game...???
Momentum is swinging fast...!!!
Not in a good way.
Failure of a season, failure of an administration, failure of a program, failure of a coaching staff. New HC is gonna lose half the team now that Robinson is gone. Gonna be a rough decade for A&M as the Donghorns compete and A&M waste away talent
Tarleton State....Texas State....Angelo State....Sam Houston....Rice....here we come.
I don’t get the argument that Louisville and Florida are better than tech and ok state. That’s a bizarre and incorrect take in my opinion. Both Louisville and Florida are bad teams. Louisville was by far the worst p5 team in a conference championship and ACC was the worst conference.
Louisville went 11-2 dude. Tech had almost the same record as Florida
@@colepriceguitar1153 have you watched Louisville play? They’re terrible. Plummer is worse than bowman and mertens. One notable win against nd. Almost lost to uva at home. The Acc is a terrible terrible conference is what you’re not realizing. I don’t care about all those b rate SEC wins that conference got this season. Texas 100 pct deserved to get in
@@GoodhitsTV Did you see Iowa play this year? They went 10-3 while outscoring opponents by 44 points. Both of the ranked teams on their schedule shut them out. They may be the worst 10-win team to ever play in a major conference.
Louisville at least outscored their FBS opponents by 90 points in 12 games (I'm not counting 56-0 against Murray State) and beat #10 ND and #20 Duke.
@@GoodhitsTV I never said Texas shouldn't be in, and neither did anyone in the video. Quite the opposite.
Elko needs to recruit! Losing player after player
The outsiders' view on this whole fiasco is that A&M spent $76 million to fire Jimbo in 2023 to "excuse" losing to a resurgent Texas in 2024. Elko's got his work cut out for him and his entire coaching staff will make less money than Jimbo will to *not* coach the Aggies.
Y'all may be in for a rough decade. I'm a Jayhawk. I've witnessed some horrors. Hopefully y'all will never see an FCS running back score a 99 yard TD (Weis's first game in 2012) or watch your own RB rush for 290+ yards and still lose by 22 (Beaty 2017). A&M probably would've had the cash in hand to poach Leipold if not for Jimbo's insane contract extension.
Cool. So now if A&M loses to a team that t.u. crushed that will be embarrassing.
Gigem Aggies beat the hell out of Oklahoma state Next year we be in the playoffs absolutely.
How is Texas gonna prepare for Washington this year cause last year they didn't match up very well against them?
Can’t compare that bud just because of the opt outs in that non cfp bowl game. That being said they do match up well w UT
Who cares
Bro what the hell is going on with the coaching hires? You are telling me Elko has not hired anybody?
I believe that he has not hired anyone yet
Bjork terribly bungled this whole thing. Requiring the new hire to keep ace recruiter Robinson on staff almost certainly eliminated quality head coach and defensive coordinator candidates. He compounded this error by neglecting to promote Robinson to DC. Now Robinson's left for a DC spot in freaking Syracuse, Elko has no staff, and the all-time great 2022 class is ripe for transfer portal poaching. And A&M still owes Jimbo $76 million dollars with no offsets thanks to the most idiotic contract extension ever put to paper.
How on earth does Bjork still have a job?
Looch can you put a little longhorn on the thumbnail. Us sips love to hear people talk about us. And if we see baby bevo we can get you more clicks 🤘
How do u figure we got screwed
So your telling me the Aggies can still be the first team to win 3 straight natty's in a row! Gig'Em
Did you seriously copy/paste this from twitter? 😂
Lmaooo
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Aggies got screwed, should have been in the Music City Bowl
Well, the writing is on the wall. Time for A&M to leave the $EC. A&M can do fine without it. t.u. getting that #3 spot is a bad sign of things to come. HAD THAT BEEN AN A&M 9-1 team in the Big-12, A&M would've stayed right there at #7. God bless Elko, and the dreams of the future, but this will go nowhere.
ok cool, why don't we just go ahead and cacel athletics because of your take? let us take it a step further and just cancel the entire CFB season and make the playoff a coin toss with teams of your picking at highest odds
@@thegoose9356 No, just get as far away from t.u. as far possible. It's a cancer for A&M, and it'll be the Big-12 all over again.
@JJ-yx6jy Slocum, Fran, Sherman, Sumlin, Jimbo...
No... A&M needs an identity. They haven't had it in 30 years. When they started to try to be "TV friendly", their institutional quality dropped, and never fully recovered.
@@MAB-nj8wf When did A&M try to be TV friendly? The buzzcuts and khaki uniforms probably look better on black and white TVs.
The Wrecking Crew had a solid identity. Perhaps y'all should rehire Mike Sherman as an offensive line consultant (he's probably too old to coach) so your offense can keep the defense fresh enough to attack. It's a shame y'all canned him in 2011 instead of hiring a playcaller. He's a great offensive line coach and a genuinely good man.
@budwyzer77 "TV friendly" started in '95. And program was never the same. 4 yards and a cloud of dust works for A&M... always has. But it's boring for TV. Ask the Academies.
The Corps has absolutely nothing to do with it. At best, they're 5% of the student population. No different than say, Virginia Tech. Same principle. Sadly, many people like to call A&M's traditions as being "cult" like. However, what many aren't privy to, is that most of these things are based on very old military customs and wartime signals and communications. May look strange... But I'm sure WW1 was strange enough. Ask the 55 flags that fly over Kyle Field every Saturday...
Texas shouldn’t be in the committee has shown early season loses don’t matter so early season out of conference wins shouldn’t either especially if the losing team significantly improves from that game.
It should’ve been uga or fsu
Bama, Georgia, Texas were all 1-loss teams. Bama and Georgia are the two best teams in the country and you kept one out because of sympathy
What? t.u. beat Bama which beat UGA. Get your head checked
More like head to head…? You’re a casual.
@@JJ-yx6jy Miami of Ohio is also a conference champion. There are lots of them. Alabama and Georgia are the two best teams in the country. Georgia got hosed for sympathy
@@JJ-yx6jy Are you suggesting there is something inaccurate?
@@JJ-yx6jy So, if I hear you correctly, you are saying that a P5 champion is better than Miami of Ohio. Yes? You are saying that we should put the best teams in the championship?
Or, are you saying we should put conference champs in? You’re sending mixed signals……
