I've been using Zabbix running in a Docker container on one of my Synology NAS units for nearly a year. It is truly an awesome tool and I was rather surprised when one day it notified me that a port on one of my switches changed to a slower speed. When I check the switches in my network rack, I noticed that the port that Zabbix informed me about, had gone from Gigabit speed to 100 megabits. It turns out I had an intermittent faulty patch cable, which I otherwise might not have immediately noticed (but Zabbix immediate did).
Nice can you tell if you have a site that says how to install it in docker (synology)
@@HoekNoot I used the documentation from Docker Hub for all the environmental variables, etc. One really important thing is to use the host network for the Zabbix server container and not the bridge network. Otherwise your devices won't be found. Put your database on the host network as well so you can access it via its port number. The Zabbix web container can be on either, but I put it on the bridge network so I can use Web Station to assign it a name and a different port. Hope this helps.
Your videos are so useful! Thanks for all you do!
I had been waiting for this for a while. Thank you!
Its awesome to setup and use!
Solid tutorial! Thank you for sharing your zabbix knowledge with us.
Amazing stuff - way over my head. (My friends call me a geek). I just do scheduled tasks, UPS status and disk analysis on my synology which emails me periodic reports. Great video Spaceman 👍👍👍
I've successfully installed a Zabbix server on my Raspberry Pi 3 to monitor all my VPS. The setup looks fantastic now, and it's all thanks to your insightful video. Much appreciated!
This is a great video!! Thank you
thank you! great video!
Yes! Please make a Zabbix install video for us.
Always wondered what zaabix was--definitely going to play with it now!
please do a tutorial on how this is setup please. I can never get this working
please Rex
What template are you using for Unifi? There doesnt seem to be a built in one.
Do you recommend using a server with Zabbix installed or using a Zabbix docker container?
Please do a video on setting up and monitoring a NAS, Unifi and client setup covering the proxy option you mentioned
we dont want, but we ~~neeed~~ a guide on how to install this amazing thing in a container :))
hi spacerex, i wonder for this stunning content from you, and can u make a video on how to configure setting alerts on windows host, and monitoring things with servicenow integration,
thnx for this videos
Just a note... There is no need to add the port 10051 to the active host as Zabbix has 10050 for passive and 10051 for active checks out of the box.. and i think they are registered to Zabbix those 2 ports.
and the only reason to add a port is if you dont use the defaults.
would love to see an installation guide. I can't find anything that I can follow like I can follow your guides!!
Planning on making one at one point!
@@SpaceRexWill same thing for me...can't get this thing to run on the DS923+ :)
@@SpaceRexWill Delighted to hear that! You do a terrific job on your videos and I look forward to an installation tutorial with great anticipation. Please consider an installation tutorial specifically focused on running Zabbix in a Docker container on Synology. You are THE MAN when it comes to synology, so this would totally be in your wheelhouse. I have a DS1821+. I have successfully installed Grafana, but I am unable to get the Zabbix plug-in working in Grafana. I've been spinning my wheels for a while now and haven't cracked the code on how to get it working yet. Thanks again, Will and I'm grateful for all your helpful and informative videos.
Which template are you using for synology? Linux snmp? I think we can custom create something nicer...
There is a synology template I found at one point and downloaded, it works pretty well overall
@SpaceRexWill can you send screenshot of dashboard or anything, trying to decide if will build my own but not seeing any images and if anything more than metrics, value is usually in visualization and comprehensiveness... I've written extensions for other network gear in the past, tbh insight isn't bad..its just spread out too much and not complete
Uptime Kuma is my Homelab monitoring service of choice
installing zabbix on linux was just like installing xammp on windows XD
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Can't get this to work.
25'00''' - "This has to match whatever is in your table". Errrr - what 'table'?
The "and"s in spacerex's language 😂
Hi everyone!
Zabbix 5.0
Do you support monitoring KVM and VMs? I need help from everyone, I'm so tired of this
1:46 *cough cough REDDIT cough cough*
I think it's so silly I made my online name and then later on found this company that spells it with two B's. I even pronounce it the same way too!
published a video how to deploy zabbix on synology A-Z
