Sucks about Bryan's GTR. I'm very careful who I choose to "cruise" with, usually just going it alone. I can't risk being mistaken for street racing. I'm a teacher, and like Bryan with his real estate license, I have my teaching license to worry about. Cops are very trigger-happy when they see a loud, expensive or fast car on the street to accuse you of street racing. I had a friend about 10 years ago who drove a ratty Ford Temporary. The exhaust was rotted out, so it sounded loud. He actually got ticketed for "racing" because he was shifting gears trying to keep up with traffic going up a hill from a stop light and ended up going about 5 mph over the limit in a 40mph zone (which turned to a 60mph zone in a couple hundred feet). Cop pulled him and a pickup who he'd never met before over and charged them both with street racing.
This story should be a reality check for anybody who wants to own a supercar. How many of you can afford the issues of owning a supercar (maintenance or legal)?? I rather have a solid financial foundation in my life.
