    I fished the other bank many of winters. I always used Triline Green or Maxima mono on a bait caster which is way more forgiving as far a freezing. I would always dip my rod in the water to melt the ice on the guides after a drift and before a cast. I was stationed out of Ft. Lewis 85-91 and fished as many rivers as I could. Green, both forks of Lewis, Nisqually, Cowletz, Washougal, Little White Salmon and caught many Steelies, Coho, King, Dog, and Pink Salmon. On e day I will return

    Instead of mono for your bumper/topshot whatever you want to call it try running dark green braid of the same pound test as your hiviz tied in. You get the floatation of the braid but low viz for 10'-12'. It works great and you dont lose strength from the mono.

    Was this yesterday morning?

      @Northwestfishingfanatics 10 місяців тому

      No, this was before they raised the water to a dangerous level for island fishing. You can see the massive amount of attraction water coming out of the hatchery spillway. Good thing I left when I did.

    I've always hated hiviz line. It really doesn't matter generally the fish don't care, but I always use green.

    This river is dead. After catching all those fish lol. You’d hate fishing with me bud

    • @Northwestfishingfanatics
      @Northwestfishingfanatics 10 місяців тому +4

      Yup. With the water level up, the island is unfishable, and most the fish are dark compared to weeks ago. So yeah, for all intents and purposes it's dead for coho. but, Steelhead are on their way. Thanks for watching.

    Hey gene it's your buddy from the tilton/Spanaway. I was watching another guy and he put the barber stop above and below his bobber in case his main line knot gives out you don't lose your bobber at least. It kept me from losing a couple of bobbers on the satsop this year.

    • @Northwestfishingfanatics
      @Northwestfishingfanatics 10 місяців тому +2

      I do use two bobber stoppers. One to adjust the float height where I want it and another to prevent the float from slipping off the line when your knot breaks. Unfortunately, it didn't work that time. Maybe something to do with the temperature.

      @@kevinjordan807 I've done pretty darn well on that river. I'm going to look up my salmon egg recipe and send it to you. I've caught well over 100 silvers on this recipe plus many kings as a bi-catch.
