This song blew my mind at first listen. As a prog rock fan this was full eargasm . The odd time signatures and sudden changes, the chord progression, the melody. This young guys were far ahead from the likes of Radiohead, without the massive success and the accolades.
I also love this version of the song (and also love Mew's discography up to +-), but I wouldn't say they were far ahead of Radiohead. This version of Am I Wry? No came out in 2003, already years after Kid A and Amnesiac when Radiohead had already ceased being a "rock" band. And as much as I love And The Glass Handed Kites, it's an entirely different beast than something like OK Computer. Not better/worse/ahead, just *different* -- Mew mixed dream pop and math rock in a way that I think will have a strong legacy.

On the tram on the way home, I played it through my headphones and I can still sense the fallout from the shivers that were sent down my entire being when I first heard the opening and then the vocals. I fell asleep to the album that night in total bliss.

Probably the song that got us into Mew originally and it's still a classic. Dug out 'Half The World Is Watching Me' the other day for the first time in ages and it's still a lovely piece of work.
Such a Masterpiece!It's tight, lots of ear candy, great melodies and lots of unique sections. I can listen to this on repeat 100 times in a row without getting bored.

Mew are my favourite band after I first found them on a late night channel 4 documentary back in 2006. I finally got round to seeing them live in Manchester about 5 years ago before Bo left. The supporting act was amazing (wish I could remember their name!) and it was an incredible performance. Jonas' vocals live are astounding. After the gig they were standing outside of the venue and I was too shy to say hello and felt giddy after the gig with the music still thundering through my veins. What a night I will never forget!

Sad news... Sad news...But it's a fact, nothing lasts forever, not even Mew. But their songs will be there. With joy I remember having discovered them in 2003, precisely with this song. Frengers is an almost perfect album. And there is no Mew song that I don't like. Very underrated...as usually happens with other great bands.
