No shame in losing to Canelo and Beterbiev, two of the best P4P of this generation. At least he got in there with them. Many would of ducked, I can name a few heavyweights off the top of my head?

I seen someone on Gman’s video say something like most channel who picked smith were Hearn fanboys because they used to always pick against fighters like Sunny Edwards until he joins Hearn than they picked him to beat Bam I think that is largely why most picked smith

I said ages ago that the fight would play out like it did. All the people saying put you're money on Smith he could do this etc but style wise he was always gonna be nightmare for smith because smith gets backed up and he just shells up most of the time. Give him credit he did try and fight back at times and got himself out of danger at times aswell but the writing was on the wall because there's only so much damage you can take from a guy who hits as hard and is relentless with it like betebiev before you crumble and smith from about round 2-3 he already looked like hed been 12

  • @johndeighan2495

Yeah Smith vs Artur was a no brainer, really. As for Bivol, I’ve always thought he’d beat Beterbiev and I still think that, although Artur seems to be getting even better with age. If we’re talking attributes, Beterbiev has two exceptional ones: his jab and his absolutely destructive power. But Bivol also has an exceptional jab. And while he lacks Artur’s power, he makes up for it with exceptional speed, defence and footwork. And he barely ever makes a mistake. They both have a robotic quality about them. Robot Wars - let’s goo! It’ll be a real legacy fight for both men. I pick Bivol to win, if he can stay switched on for the full 36 minutes, which I think he can.

Definitely lost to Ryder and arguably kick-boxer Nieky Holzken
When Benevidez actually moves up to his genuine weigh class I’d give the walking hatstand a better chance vs him.
Bivol is obviously special but not a big LHW and hasn’t the power to keep the Mack truck off him for 36 minutes

Bivol also has a top-level engine. He might be able to avoid Beterbiev for 12 rounds, but it is a tough ask.
I would like Bivol to win but it looks hard. 50-50 I would say.
This match is huge anyway - both fighters are top in the history of boxing in this category and it is very interesting to see them fight.
I think Beterbiev will be called overrated if Bivol wins and he will be accused of not fighting top top fighters while if Beterbiev wins, he will become legendary like Marciano.
Bivol is not shining - he is very underrated - only specialists know him. He should improve his English and hire an image consultant and he will have a much stronger legacy.

Really good postfight analysis, excellent points.
So far some styles have given Beterbiev some issues, but nobody has been able to stay with him in a ring for the fully allotted time.
Yarde only lasted a few minutes longer, before he was busted up and had to be pulled out too.
Won't be surprised if Bivol can stay with him the full 12 rounds, and won't be surprised if he can't. Bivol is clearly at least the second best light heavy. Beterbiev can generate incredible power into his fists in ranges of less than six inches, from both hands at seemingly all angles. He's super dangerous at all times. I suspect he'll be the betting favorite, and I think he'll win, but I also see paths for Bivol, he's an incredible challenge. This is lightheavy Spence/Crawford, and likely a much better war.

Yes, Callum Smith was backed up immediately in round 1 (as I said previously would happen in the fight and was a preview of what was to come later on) but in🥊Round 3🥊 Smith had his revelation moment and saw clearly why he was going to lose this fight...he felt he was doing ok until the 3rd, and in the break before round 4 you could see the 19-0 light was brightly on in his head and he saw that number 19 was slowly but surely changing into number 20 before his eyes.
Callum was fighting at 100%/Flat Out/in 6th Gear,....under heavy stress mentally and physically from the 3rd onwards, whereas Artur Beterbiev was calm, relaxed and chugging along in 2nd.
Every time Callum hit Artur flush (which wasn't that often at all because Beterbiev's defence was great) there was no fear, no distress, no panic and no shook up from Beterbiev....the exact opposite was happening to Callum when he got repeatedly caught flush, you could see the dismantling of Smith in slow motion, every round from the 3rd he was desperate and Buddy and the rest of the team could see what was happening, but couldn't do a thing to halt the inevitable.
Callum Smith got beat up and busted up and his team did the best thing for Callum by jumping in to stop the fight.
Respect to Callum Smith giving everything he had trying to win, but he was made to fight that way and unfortunately for him it was never going to be enough.
    💥Artur 'The Beast' Beterbiev 👑 20-0 with 20 KO's💥
Beterbiev cruised through this fight and now we need to see the undisputed with Dimitri Bivol.
Bivol will be hard to catch up with but I think his Achilles heel is he just doesn't have the power to seriously hurt Beterbiev and stop him or deter him. Bivol is an excellent boxer with stamina for days and great footwork movement, speed and a very high punch output.... he's going to need all that for every round to avoid getting caught on the ropes and battered. The question is can he keep his distance and pepper and frustrate Beterbiev to a 12 round majority points decision? Or will Beterbiev do what nobody else has been able to do and catch up with Bivol and stop him in his tracks for a 21-0 victory?
Hopefully we'll get to see this debate for who is truly the best Light Heavyweight Champion finally settled later this year.
