#DIY #build #woodworking #palletwoodprojects pallet wood projects
I’ll be honest.
Your channel is the reason I am getting into this craft. ❤❤❤
Same here. Matt, I'm a 66 year old woman who was never taught about wood working or power tools. But during the past year, while watching your videos, I've started becoming comfortable using power tools for small projects of my own. I'm making a pallet wall for my kitchen, and then a wishing well to cover an unsightly old brown-shingled "doghouse" which is covering a cistern that by law can no longer be used. After that, who knows what I'll create. Lol.
Instead of Fight Club- you're starting a Wood Club. Just abide Rule #1. And I already broke it!
😂
Love the positivity in your vids, and enjoyed meeting you at WBC. One thing I will say about the Giant Jenga is that I was asked to build a set for someone, with a rolling case. While the material is not expensive at all and it is an easy build, I found that I needed to asked over $100. Actually a good bit more. The reason was it took a long time as there is a ton of sanding. I did run my 2x4's through my planer but I still had to sand all 6 sides of each block as well as chamfer all 12 edges of each block. Maybe I didn't think a good way to do it so for me I actually decided unless for a good friend I was retiring from the giant jenga market.
I so look forward to these because of the creativity, the encouragement, and the excitement shared in each video. Even if I am not going to make some items, I still get ideas and learn things! Keep it up…. Please!
For those candle holders when doing the faces, I’d make some precut stiff foam shapes vs stencilling. Dab the foam in the paint, blip blap bloop… done! Faces painted in 3 seconds instead of 5 minutes of stencilling and painting.
Dude you are awesome because not only have you great project builds that will sell, but , I am looking towards retirement in a year or so and this will help supplement my savings, pension etc so this is giving me much needed relief and taking the stress out of those thoughts. Thank you !!
My exact plan as well ... much success and enjoyment to you!
Love the stacking wall wooden game idea. We have the plastic version from Dollarama. Never thought of taking that idea and making out of wood. It would be easy to save time and cut costs by recycling old Jenga blocks or buying cheap ones at the dollar store, and just building the frame to hold them in place.
The windowless PB van will pull up on Peech one day.
I'm willing to bet that they better not try it anywhere close to his house or shop!
@@Jimc4007 😂I’ve seen the concealment builds.
@@westernmac5944so true!
Really enjoying your videos, keep them coming. Keeping your family involved in creating and inspiring your audience is a great way to enjoy your craft. Thanks for keeping us motivated!
Holy smokes! My dad was making those Halloween decorations like 30 years ago!
Matthew, besides your creative talent and ability to inspire beginners who need a nudge, you come across as a man we’d be proud to call a friend.
Thanks to everyone who agreed with me!
That game was like Ice Breaker back in the day.
Don't let the Wall Fall would be a cool name for it.
i like your split drawer behind you very cool
Sold my first high end table and that’s the direction iam going with my business but I always enjoy your videos
That's awesome! I think smalls are great for the road to high end. Keeps cash flow until you have a waiting list. Good luck!
@@MatthewPeechWoodworking amen that’s how I started you inspired me did cutting boards and stuff now make cutting boards from the scraps of leftovers of furniture
I think you might have just got me wanting to get away from my laser and back to the miter saw. That shelf was cool and i do miss the smell of sawdust. Thank you for another great video, God bless and have a great day.
Dude i love your videos, they make me so inspired to keep at this "hobby" of mine! (Just getting started)
Great ideas and nice fight club reference!
Thank you.
Better name for the knocking blocks out of a wall game? How about BlokOut or something like that? 👍 love the content keep it coming!
I use the larger cookbook stands for art easels. Quality art easels cost a ton.
Nice idea!
Another great one Matt. Thanks for your suggestions.
Thank you you come up with great ideas 💡
The stacking wood game rminds me of that old "Don't Break the Ice" game with the little plastic people that you would stand on top from the 70s and 80s. This game could be called, "Breakout", also from the video game of the 80s.
His name is Robert Paulson. Great stuff, many of my holiday gift ideas come from your channel. Thanks for the inspiration to me and many others!
Good stuff, Matthew~! Love the way you pull these easy makes from the "high fallutin" stores. The block wall game looks like a vertical version of a game I grew up with called "Don't Break The Ice".
...and Fight Club is definitely the reference~!
Thank you!! You always inspire me to try new projects. 😊
Fight Club is one of my all time favorites.
Mine too!
You could make Jenga blocks out of a pile of bricks too, but I think shipping would be prohibitive.
💯 I have seen the bookcase in mail order catalogs.
Get your Jenga pieces from the dollar store. Plus this game is like the Scooby Doo game where Scooby and shaggy set on top of the wall.
We can't talk about the movie reference. LOL
Lol 👊🏻
Awesome ideas
Thank you! 😊
Looking around on the net i have seen other block walls games with the small pieces attached to the sides. you just have the bigger pieces lose to move. i mite try one that way with a backing board to restack the game.
Some really smart ideas in there. I was actually thinking about gluing pannels together to attempt the bookcase bourbon caninet thing 🤔 i may attempt that although not sure if my brain can cope with it. Although like the coaster and stabd idea and yhe giant jenga. 🏴👍
You can do it!!
@@MatthewPeechWoodworking thanks dude will give it shot! 🏴👍😬
Dude your awesome imsubscribed
The curved front cabinet could be painted black & white (one curve black and the other white) to make a Yin & Yang version. It goes with the curves. First rule of fight club, is don't talk about fight club..... One mod to the game would be to make a thin cover that could be locked down over the blocks in place for transport and storage, put a handle on the top to lift and carry, release the locks at the bottom and it's all there and ready. A 1/4" plywood with finger jointed edges would be perfect (especially if someone had a laser to cut the thin plywood).
In process of getting my wood shop set up with minimal tools to get me started. I have a Metabo 10” miter saw. Is a 60 tooth good for the cuts on these smaller projects. I noticed the 24 tooth on it now does quite a bit of splintering on 3/4” wood
Paint it up like Pink Floyd's The Wall album and call it Tear Down the Wall....and then hope you don't have copyright issues 😀
WRECK RACK! There's your game name! If you make a million, remember me. 😊
They played jenga with railroad ties

I must be old the fight club reference was super obvious to me. I forget there's a whole generation of adults that have grown up since then.
Yep. We are old. lol
Fight club reference .. nice lol
Would like the plans for the bookcase.
LOVE your channel!!!! What price would you put on the wall game?
Tyler Durden said it best
🤐
Wreck it wall? Maybe?
I like it.
I would name the movie but I can't talk about it. lol
15:31 oversized blocks wooden tower game
How do you make the cabinet behind you that looks like it's splitting
How to make the curve? I think it is 5" X 8" time two (one flipped over)
What CAD software would be recommended for cabinetry, free is bettter
When did Paul Wall get into woodworking?
@MatthewPeechWoodworking, did you make that splitting drawer and tv behind you? If so, do you have the plans for that?
I was thinking a router for the first item l, top 2 inch insert
I will not accept failure
Thank you
I’ve seen the cookbook stand on their website. They don’t show the back…is it hinged or just routed at an angle or what?
I would assume since the bottom is angled the back will match. You could do either way or just cut the same angle and glue and nail.
What's "the pb"?
Fight club 😮
👊🏻
Where and do I sell my smalls
"That's ALL that they have done"
Who is this “pb” he refers to?
What is PB?
Pottery barn
Why can't I save this video?
fight club 1st rule No talking about fight Club
👊🏻
Not a plugged nickel would I give for any of that.
👍👍
How would one market stuff on FB? I've got what I want to sell, I have many pictures and a decent description with a reasonable price i think, I'd barely be making $10 off it. It's been sitting on the market for about 2 weeks and only 11 people have even seen it in a local group of 20-30k people. I would rather ship it so I don't have to wait for people to come around and it's a flat rate of $8 within about 100 miles but I'm thinking that's the issue. I'm new to this and I'm doing it on my own so I don't really have anyone's input. Sorry for the paragraph, just need someone's thoughts. Please and thank you.
First, let’s talk about your price. Unless you made and photographed that in 1/2 hr, you are not charging enough! A super low price will make it look cheap. There are a lot of videos about pricing woodwork. The main issue for Etsy is that everyone tries to be the cheapest, and it makes it hard for everyone to make a good living ☺
Facebook is great, but you have to work what FB is all about. Have your friends share your posts. Join community groups that your product would appeal to, ie: local moms groups if you make toys, hiking groups if you make walking sticks.
Best of luck on your journey!,

this is going to sound corny but you are one of the only UA-camrs that when I watch your videos I feel like I'm just one of your friends hanging out in your shop and you're telling me your new ideas. You are amazing. Thank You!
I’m so glad that you said that comment, because I always feel the same way when I watch him like he’s one of my buddies that I hang out with, but the only difference is I learn something from him every time lol
That doesn’t sound corny my love! I feel the same way… Matthew is brilliant 🔥 I love him so, and I love how beautifully positive this community is ❤️ …I wanted to be a cabinet maker since I was a little girl, but nobody would give me an apprenticeship because I was a girl.. 🥺 I think this has changed today (I’m old) Pardon squirrel! My point is… this lovely young man makes me feel hope, and he’s amazing 🥰
@@heather2493I had somewhat the same experience.... I've always wanted to do woodwork since I was young and I wanted to take shop class in 6th grade, but the school told me that I couldn't since I was a girl.... They told me that I could take home ec though 😕😒
Lol, Im already going to spend half of my next shop day cutting 30° strips for an end- grain cutting board I'm working on for a gift. Ill spend a little extra time cutting some 1x12s for those cookbook holders. Thanks, Matthew!
Love this series. I have several of your plans and have made some money too. Starting to change things up and getting great responses. Thank you for this Matt.
Great to hear!
Do you know what drugs the marketing people take in order to believe the cost of these items should be this high?
Lol
Shipping from China and storage space costs a ton.
@@vinster8884 understandable but the cost can be mitigated by just making them here
I just had an Idea with that cookbook holder. Instead of glueing in one long inlay piece, have smaller pieces cut with numbers and month names either painted, burnt, or caved into them. Insert magnets in the back of each of the date tiles with the corresponding polarity magnet in the base, with the spare dates stacked in the tray at the bottom. Attach some decorative hooks to the front and sell it as a manual calendar and key holder.
What do you all think?
Nice!
Thats a great idea. But making month and number tiles will be labor intensive unless you have a cnc or laser, or buy them yourself premade.
We have a small deskstyle one, the numbers are square like dice, and the months are longer sticks (4 labels per stick).
Personally that's over thinking a simple design that's worked for hundreds of years. Great enthusiasm though. My reasons for this are 1, the tray is what holds the cookbook so the dates would hinder that. 2, the cookbook in the holder would hide everything you mentioned. Most people hold counter space to a premium also, which means cookbook holders don't stay out on display without a cookbook in them. The amount you'd have to ask for such a complex design won't be returned in what you will be able to ask for it. And yes places like PB are asking $100+ but they also have 100k sets of eyes on their products daily so even if they sell 1 of them a day, they can stock them.
A lot of options that you could do with it. Give it a try and see how it goes!
I love that chest of drawers in the background of this video. It looks like it split up the middle. That thing is amazing.
Matthew has videos of making it. Not sure about plans.
More excellent content Matthew!!! I have a love/hate relationship with these videos.
I love the content but I hate getting further behind in my project builds.😊 Your projects are always "must build". JimE
Thanks for all the support Jim!
Agreed! lol!
I DID IT! I made those candle holders earlier this year! I saw another video you did in this series and went looking on line (like you said). I saw these and I MADE THEM but mine are way cooler! These are only painted on ONE side - I painted mine on all FOUR sides with different designs. Then I made a set for the summer (mermaids and shells) that all my friends love!
I will be selling the sets I made for Halloween at craft shows later this fall! I will let you know how well they sold!
How did things come out?
@@JI-ev9pp I sold several sets of them! One person liked them so much, he gave my name to a friend of his who owns a consignment shop and I gave her a set to sell, too. Thanks for asking!
I was just about to break down some hardwood pallets. I love the ideas!!
Nice! Perfect timing.
I even thought about the bookshelf twisty thing out of pallets
With a smaller lip, that "cookbook holder" is a tablet stand.
Many of is use a tablet as our cookbook, so ...
His name was Robert Paulson. RIP Meatloaf.
I subbed as soon as I saw the split dresser behind you! Brilliant!
If you cut a small area out of the ledge it would double for tablets as well. Also with the stacking wall game you could drill holes in the tops of the side to store the ‘pens’
I was thinking about a groove in the front of the bottom ledge, kinda like where you would put the chalk on an old-fashioned chalkboard. Your way is much simpler, and would add to the aesthetics.
Honestly I must be missing something fellas. I've sold a few things....but my area is dead. Online, flea markets ( 7 locations) and festivals. What's the secret to SALES???
Hey Matthew Peech. I just purchased some plans on etsy What tools should i have to start and what are some ways you get reclaimed wood or pallets? I did just remodel my cali house and put in laminate floors and put in new trim. I have a miter saw, oscillating, jig, drills, hack saw, impact drill, circular sander, belt sander, square sander, rotary tool. I did not bring my table saw and i thinkni need to get that for sure. I just retired and moved from cali to ky. Ive been watching these videos for awhile and id like to sell products at farmers msrket or antique store booth is also a possibility. Just some ideas. I just need to get started to ensure i can gesome items made for my new home and to sell
The wood wall game looks like a vertical “Don’t break the Ice” game.
Would a little wider side pieces with a slot cut in the backside to hold a 1/8 hardboard help to lay the game down flat to stack the wood pieces? Just lay flat add the pieces, turn upright and remove the back panel. A little mallet out of dowel instead of the poker would be nice too.
I like the idea!
@@MatthewPeechWoodworking Matthew, your channel needs an intro with a version of Megadeth’s “Peace Sells” only with the lyrics “Peach Sells but Inspires”.
There’s a measurement issue with the bookshelf. If you want to use one panel to get two pieces with 11” wide and 3” narrow ends, you’d have to use a 14” wide board. I did the exact same thing a couple of weeks ago making a drawer with curved sides. It also looks like the curves are offset heightwise to allow for the larger gap in the middle shelf.
I was just thinking about this. I love the idea, and it's still stupid simple, just not as simple as stated unless you are okay with your front faces not spanning the entire side length
Also the board is longer than the solid sides. The additional length creates the gap in the centre and gets trimmed off the wider ends.
I love watching your video. They are always inspirational.
Thank you so much!
Jeff Bezos said “your margin is my opportunity”. Is Matthew Peech the next Jeff Bezos? 🤔
6x6 jenga would be awesome,.. because now you add the risk of personal injury to the game.
That book case would sell to college kinds like crazy for thier dorms. I would build it out of melamine and just edge band it. White, black, greys all would sell. The material would be super cheap.
You can reuse the same block for the giant jenga than the wall, but adding to the jenga set some block 1/2 the lenght. I made a giant jenga...I could not wait to be done routing the edge and the sanding !!! then the finishing...56 blocks...112 ends to finish....a lot of sanding/finishing. I will add some 1/2 block to my set to be able to use as a jenga or wall.
How much does the project run you for the 56 blocks?
I love these videos. It opens my mind to building different things. They way you describe them also gives me the “yes, I can build that” confidence. I’m a novice or whatever comes before that lol
One up your big jenga. Laser 9 different images on the top side of all the pieces. 9x6=54. Top side so you can’t see when stacked. Create an adult list or kids list of actions corresponding to each image. A fun rule is to reverse the order. Another great one is the person has to pick from the 5th row or lower their next turn. Be creative. Adds a ton of fun.
Has anybody thought about the public liability risk of a 6 ft high jenga. What happens when the blocks collapse on an infant or child during a game ?
Fight Club, but you showed Wilson from Castaway.
Great video.
2 movie references lol
