Just a suggestion but fish have a protective coating of mucus on them that prevents bacteria from infecting them via their skin. I believe trout are especially vulnerable if that mucus coating is removed. I would minimize handling of trout as a precaution so you remove as little mucus as possible.
For several years I raised trout for the State of Maryland. You may want to consider what other benthos you need to finish the pond ecosystem. For example, snails help keep algae down, and adding some minnows will help the food chain balance out. I also didn't notice any water plants which will help oxygenate the water. Cattails don't help with that. You may want to check the oxygen levels at different depths to be sure the trout have somewhere to survive during hot summers when the shallow water warms up (even with spring fed ponds) and in the winter when thick ice reduces O2 levels.
I heard that when adding fish under these circumstances that they come out with a bit of a shock and should be lightly thumped into the new water to bring back awareness. Is this true?
Good morning it was a pleasure to watch your beautiful property this morning with a hot cup of coffee I felt like I were walking on the property have a great day GOD BLESS
It's good to see you at the top of a ladder Gina and not holding on with both hands to stop yourself from the fear of falling, you have definitely concurred your phobia.
Best way to transport is with a cooler like you have. Put an aerator In each one. Keeps the oxygen in the water. The bag way they slowly suffocate. Acclimate by adding the pond water slowly to the cooler. Drain some out at times till its same temp as pond.
That is exactly what I was going to say. I will add this, have them put no more than 10 fish (this size) in a bag and keep the bag in the cooler with the opening up. If you don't have the aerator, best to have less fish per bag and more water. Open the bags IMMEDIATELY when you reach your destination to get the CO2 out of the bag. Reseal* and let float for about 10 mins. Add some of the pond water, reseal and repeat a couple of times. Let them ALL out at once, not one at a time. *If you are not sure how to reseal a bag without compressed air, stand the bag up with the top as wide open as you can. Quickly grab the bag to trap the air and seal with a rubber band (or knot). It may take a couple of tries before you get, but once you do, it is easy. Big bags may require 2 hands! Also, if your trip is longer than 1 hour, pull over and open and reseal the bag to let the carbon dioxide out of the bag.

Ok, so I apologize if I seem like I'm piling on about what others have said about how to handle the trout but it needs to be said. Next time you get trout use battery powered aerators ( I believe you can still order them from Basspro ) in the coolers. And remember trout require cooler temperatures then bass or bluegill or any of the " warn water" species. This is because trout have a greater need for high oxygen levels in water or they suffocate. Cold water has the ability to retain higher levels of oxygen, warm water doesn't. That's why in the hot months you will probably find the trout hanging around that spring water for better oxygen levels, or in the deeper water portion of the pond. And next time, just like the others have mentioned don't handle the fish. It's really hard on them. Hopefully they are all right but don't be surprised if in the next few days or weeks you find some floaters. Each one you handled you removed some of the protective slime and introduced bacteria that might kill them. Hey it's a learning thing, you didn't know, now you do. Next, a few folks mentioned the Arms family homestead, good people. But they are in the South planting warm water fish in their pond and that's not really going to help you as much. A good resource would be your state game department. Remember to mention you're fish can't get out of the pond ( game departments across our great country are concerned about invasive species and with good reason ) and potential spread of aquatic diseases. Get a good thermometer to measure the water temperature remembering the Deepwater and water near the spring should be cooler then the rest of the pond. There's more I could tell you but that's enough for now. Fyi, I live in Washington state, have a 8 minute walk to a river that has salmon, trout, Sturgeon, even Walleye so yes,I very much love these fish ( ohhh they are so tasty) and therefore have a great deal of knowledge about them and wish the best. One more thing. Ask the game department if it's ok to catch then release some of those " brookies" from the stream to your pond. After all they are essentially already in the system so there shouldn't be any problems. Good luck. 😃👍🎣
The Heron and the cranes are going to love these. Maybe you could pick up a fake Heron moving it once in awhile. Because they are territorial they won't feed where another one lives. Those trout are pan size. Already..

One thing you might consider is mounting a trail camera that overlooks an eagle nest or a hawk nest (or some other bird). There are fascinating videos on UA-cam that do it. In the spring, the nests should be filled with youngsters.

Good morning AL. One of the worst things you can do when stocking a pond is to touch the fish with your hands. as an avid rainbow trout farm fisher, can I recommend that you dont touch the fish at all with your bare hands until you are ready to catch , dispatch, and cook. They have a protective film which you can damage by handling and increase their chances of fungal and parasitic infection. My favourite way to eat is to gut then stuff with lemon and herbs, then coat in butter and roll the whole fish in nibbed oatmeal, then cast iron skillet and more butter, very gently cook or grill. great with a herb and green leaf salad. the oatmeal hardens into a delicious crust and lifts off the skin easily, the skin falls off and the meat comes off the bones so easily. I wholeheartedly agree. The 'slime' on fish is Nature's defense mechanism. 'Handling' fish, (especially trout!), can transfer your bacteria to their skin.
Way, way, way too much handling of the fish. Too many fish per bag for such a long trip. Should have been less fish per bag and the bags injected with pure O2

It was nice seeing Mrs. Lumnah doing stuff without Al being there,he was probably behind the camera lol, and I enjoyed watching you release the trout.
We LOVE trout!! When Gina gets cooking, I have an amazing recipe to share!! 😋
Al, next time take a airator, and you shouldn't handle the fish.
I wholeheartedly agree. The 'slime' on fish is Nature's defense mechanism. 'Handling' fish, (especially trout!), can transfer your bacteria to their skin.
A must..with that many fish in a bag...fish hatchery should have warned him
Way, way, way too much handling of the fish. Too many fish per bag for such a long trip. Should have been less fish per bag and the bags injected with pure O2
Personally I wouldn’t handle the fish; however, you do in ‘catch & release’.
@@Aleka1943 ...There are cool videos here to teach you how to unhook fish without touching them using your pole.
Good morning all of my amazing friends .. have a very blessed day

THANKS FOR THE VISDIT. It was really a treat to see the countryside where you live. so much green!
I was surprised that the pond was beyond the house site, I always though it was below. I was hoping you would have stopped and let us see what has been happening at the the home site, but you promised us we will see it soon.
the homestead looks great with all the green there,. I was watching Gina in the outdoor kitchen and remembering how short a time ago, non of that was there. you two have really built a wonderful place, With the 500 it will be so much better!
Good mornin'! Great news! Al's gonna take us fishin! 😀
We sure are gonna do some fishing 🎣
It’s really beautiful in your area.
I have large mouth bass that thrive in my mirky pond. Fun to catch too!
The bass would just love to chow down on baby trout!
Not allowed to be stocked in their state exactly for that reason.
Gina, nifty bug guards for the greenhouse doors! I like how you demo'd them by walking through, showing how they closed on their own afterward. Very clever. I hope you have a bug free growing season this year. God bless.
Good morning Lumnah's beautiful fish! Al I bet that water was a little chilly! Love your videos God Bless!
Now you just need a dock. Time for a build video😁
Good morning everyone. Hey Al I would get a couple of Citronella plants and have them by sliding door on you cabin. They'll keep mosquitoes and othe bugs away. Leave in the pots. They'll be effect for 15 feet out. Plant some lavender and marigolds around the ponds they'll help with nasty bugs.
Basil and sage works great also.
Time to have Al put in a small dock to fish from. Love to see you build things Al.
Morning Al, Gina & Olivia from Ireland.
Loved the film travelling to the Lumnah Ranch, ye have your own private highway. Looking forward to the plans for the rest of the year.
Good Morning all.
(Maybe get three 5-gal buckets with tight lids and put a complete change of clothing for each of you, and keep it at the container cabin for impromptu swims). : )
You should definitely add several dozens of couples of grayling and crucian carp. That pond is ideal place for them. Grayling and rainbow trout live in nature together with no war.
Almost impossible to find Grayling to stock in the US
Goodmorning everyone from Wisconsin! This was an amazing video....Lots of fun. I love hearing all the birds singing in the background.
Goooooood Morning the birds are pretty
Loud this morning too
I'm glad I caught up on my videos. I sure would have hated missing Pluto's grand debut. hehe Al I thank GOD for boxers after this video! Everything is so nice looking at the pond. I Loved Gina's excitement seeing the Trout flip around in the pond. Neat! What a great place for a cookout & chairs to relax & take in the scene. I am very happy for you folks!
As for stocking Minos and other things, maybe a bait shop would know of a source. Gina that magnetic screen door was a great idea.
So great. Thanks for the share.
That bird song, very unique sound for us. Felt caring...
jsssh if you gunna release fish open the bag and let the water merge together so oxygen rejuvenates the water in the bag... also they look like steal heads, dont be surprised if you find some trying to jump up the water ways for migration, i spent a few weeks finding fish on the shallow streams around my ponds... also dont be surprised if you get more bears around the pond...
Hi...... AL and Gina nice to see you both and Olivia love watching your videos homestead, thank you for sharing your video homestead chicken farmer garden 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 🎥👍👍👍
I was sure there would be a ton of comments about the fish handling. Al try to assist the ponds ecology, by introducing the right species of fish and plants. Also you can get an automatic feeder for them, till you dont get them any other fish to eat.
