I have Parkinson’s and my doctor recommended modeling, for my dexterity. I’ve been collecting MP and 3rd party Transformers, so I found Flametoys, and then got into Gunpla. It’s relaxing and helps with my motor function.
I have mild tremors, one of the best therapy for me is to build plastic model kits. I couldn't take pictures steadily with a phone, but at least I could carve and remove nubs with hobby knives
@Cityslicker76 I have a Green cheek, so I built a spry booth and placed it in a window with a fan to draw out air. He is my wife’s bird and I love him.I’m a accomplished Chef and did well for myself early on in life so I lucked out. You might try spray paint out doors. There is plenty of people doing it that way. I’m glad you found the hobby, good luck, and always be patient with yourself. Don’t ever be afraid to push your limits. If life gets uncomfortable then ease back a little and hit it again. Mind over matter, stay positive.

I caught my son at about 3am building something in our dining room and although first irritated at the time I further inspected what it was he was building and now currently can’t get enough of Gunpla!!! I also now have dedicated an entire room to building Gundam kits. Watching the Gundam series and movies as well as all the great Gunpla content on UA-cam is how I spend an extreme amount of time. Thanks to my son!!!! Oh and by the way, I’ve found myself up at 3 am building Gundam kits on more than one occasion.
I actually discovered gunpla while looking for masterpiece transformers, I immediately drew a connection between optimus prime's head and that of a gundam (I know I'm sorry sue me). I started with the HGBD Gundam 00 Diver and the 1/100 Gundam Barbatos. Now online I posted 2 other kits claiming them to be my first as I was ashamed of how they looked, cut out with nail clippers and I had a little sand paper lying around. It was always hard to actually get gunpla as it was either order it online or go 100+ km down to the nearest city (I live in rural Australia) to pick them up. At first they helped me build a bit more patience which actually started to translate over into my life. They kept me busy during covid and online schooling. But I hit a pretty rough patch with my mental health. I had 0 motivation to do anything. I lost relationships, I fell behind in school. I was always on the verge of giving up entirely. But I had gunpla, and having something to do, even if it was small, it gave me a sence of accomplishment that I was severely lacking in life. Starting from that, I was pull myself out of that massive all encompassing void. This was around a month ago that i seriously began to focus on my health. As of now, I've built around 50 or so (at least one of each major grade) and I would go as far to say that the each played a part in saving my life. Now I know that might sound stupid or dumb but I treasure each of these kits more than I can say. So yeah, that's a basic summary of what they mean to me. Thanks for reading if you got this far! There IS a connection between the Gundam head and Optimus Prime's head. The guy who designed the original Optimus Prime (known as Convoy in Japan) was Shōji Kawamori, who is best known for co-creating Macross (known as Robotech in the west). Prime's head was based on the Gundam, and Kawamori would later assist with the mechanical designs of the Gundams in Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory, which takes place between the original Mobile Suit Gundam series and its sequel, Zeta Gundam.
I’ve always loved seeing some of the customizations builders have done. To me, it means a lot because it’s a form of art, and for a lot of us, it’s something that brings us joy, and peace.
I remember walking past a hobby shop when I was a kid I was at a shopping centre and I walked past a hobby shop and I saw these insane robot figures, and it mesmerised me. I really wanted one but I was still young so I didn't get it. It was stuck in my mind for ages and after a while, I forgot about it, but I actually came across one of your videos and it all came back to me and I got my first kit then and I've been pretty engrossed in the hobby ever since. It has helped to get past quarantine and it's just calming in some aspects, and the satisfaction of the finished build is just amazing. The amount of things you can also do afterwards (painting/customising) is just mind-blowing as well.
Honestly It was Jobby The Hong and him talking about Iron blooded orphans and so I got curious and watched it, then rewatch it again after falling in love with the series. So after that I wanted to build a Gundam frame so I bought the hgibo astaroth origin built it, then customized it and ever since then I've been loving gunplay.
When I was sick and stuck in the hospital ibo just came out and when I watched the first couple of episodes I was hooked on gundam, and then I discovered that there where models of the barbatos and when I got it in my hands I fell in love, and for the past couple of years I have just been hooked on gunpla, which has never seemed boring to me no matter what was going on in my life
I remember watching Gundam Wing when it first hit Toonami back in the day. I recorded every episode I could and would re-watch them over and over again. And then one day I was walking through my local grocery store and saw one of the old no grade wing kits. I was so excited that I asked my mom to get it for me and after about 10 minutes of begging, she agreed and got it for me. It was the Sandrock And I played with it so much. Then I started going on the Internet and learn there was more than just Gundam wing. Looking at all the designs pulling up on my 56K modem was just awesome and made me fall in love with the franchise as a whole.

I remember the night I first laid my eyes on a Gundam. It was an afternoon in a local anime store, they had a massive Gundam wall and my interest piqued instantly. It was like a part of my conscious had been unlocked to the sheer possiblities Gunpla provides. I was an early middle schooler at the time, the next time I went out with my mother I bought the Zeta Plus. I had no clue how to build kits, so I popped every part out with hand and got cut up a few times. While the product looked like I intentionally messed it up, I was so proud of what I was able to do and I have been going down and down the rabbit hole since
I got in to gunpla after being a little kid surfing youtube aimlessly looking at cool robot stuff and stumbling across the franchise, I grew up a bit, found out more about it, and eventually started building, I'm not good by any stretch of the word but it's just fun. Gunpla to me is a process, I put work into the figure and I get enjoyment directly from that work, the build, and the end product. Gunpla has unironically changed how I look at action figures
Long story short: I always loved building, starting with legos, then discovered gundams anime and merchandise thanks to my brother. The first Gundam reviewers I subscribed was rrobert184. Then when I was at the age of having a pair of nippers and to build more advanced kits, I started gunpla. First gunpla: RG Unicorn, a very enjoyable Build for me
I saw it on youtube and i just wanted one. I bought my first kit, mg 00 raiser(it was because it was the first gundam anime i had watched. They build process is calming and the end product is just so mesmerising. There is also the mindset that the next kit is gonna be the last because of financial problems but... you cant stop (videos like these are also a reason😂).
My parents got me my first gunpla kit from toys r us in 2001 for my birthday. The first kit I ever got was wing gundam with the heero yuy figurine. It was an amazing build with my parents that I will never forget! Gunpla helps me relax and honestly brings me so much nostalgia for my childhood. I love this hobby so much but it definitely leaves my wallet empty! I just got first perfect grade this past Saturday. I can't wait to start building it! If anyone wants to know it is the PG unleashed RX-78-2 Gundam. I know I am late for the competition but I just wanted to share my experience and love for this hobby here.
I got into gunpla because of gundam build fighters. For me it presented an opportunity to create something unique, something that reflects its maker, and to have a physical model of the machines I saw on tv.
My cousin’s boyfriend showed up one day with a hg strike freedom and he introduced me to the hobby. Never thought there were things this complicated that anyone can fully build and customize to their liking
I was actually hooked into Gunpla when I was four years old when my brother had a 1/144 No Grade Saviour Gundam, which hooked me into the franchise. But me, being more of a destroyer back then, kept wrecking what Gunpla we had back then, including the MG Destiny (To which I still regret to this day at age 19). But it wasn't until I turned 18 when I got instantly hooked unto Gunpla again when I decided to give it another go by buying the HG Saviour and Gaia (Which are poor kits articulation wise and I brought it because I liked the Seed Destiny designs) and later the HG Justice Knight and the 00 Sky. And since then, I added five MGs onto my shelf and still collect more whenever possible
This channel got me into Gunpla I came across your channel while I was away from my family living in a hotel in NYC while being on orders to help with the COVID 19 pandemic early 2020 ever since I’ve built a kit almost every week and I do them with my son so to me it’s something that keeps my mind off the negative and something I hope my son enjoys when he gets older I don’t want to be in the contest since I have this kit and accessory pack I thought I would just share thanks for this channel and thanks for helping me get into a hobby that I love and can share with my family.
My sister indirectly got me into gunpla, a while back she had bought a pack of stickers and gave me the ones she didn’t care about. Within the pile was an interesting looking yellow, red, and blue robot, cue me spending way to much time on Amazon comparing Gundam models and figures. In the end I went with the revive granddaddy, my wallet hasn’t been the same since..... Since then gunpla has kinda been an escape, for a few hours at a time I just turn on some background noice and build a scaled figure. It’s just become a nice hobby to ignore the news and current world affairs relive some stress and have some fun

I never really got into Gunpla as I never could afford the kits but I still love watching videos like this because of the constant times me and my father watched Gundam together. Our love for Sci-if is so strong that the fresh grim and dusty Gundam settings were a joy to behold. Watching you ever since the Astaroth Origin days and loving all the reviews especially due to not having any money for Gunpla.
I was a lego Bionicle moc builder for almost 20 years . I always wanted to try a gundam and my first one was the RG Amatsu Mina,a difficult kit for sure but a rather pleasant first build . After that i watched the Iron blooded orphans anime during the first pandemic lockdown and bought another 7 HG's from that line asap.
I got into gunpla as a teenager but stopped around 19 as I moved to study abroad. I met my best friend around 24 but he soon moved away to another country. However, we have been getting in touch ever since. My friend, who is a civil engineer, revealed to me that he has been back to gunpla for quite sometimes and this is one of the reasons for getting me back into gunpla 12 years later as we could find something more interesting to talk about despite the distance. The other main reason is that gunpla is something that actually cures stressful life and also depressions. It is something that I was able to find the joy to feel a bit more alive. For me, building a gunpla helps transfer me to another universe with mesmerizing characters, philosophy, and music
My barber got me into gunpla. In 2019 I was having my hair cut and we were talking about anime and other stuff and he brought it up, a few weeks after that and I was binge-watching your videos. It's honestly one of my favorite hobbies and is just really fun to do whilst watching a show or listening to good music
I was stationed on the USS Mississippi SSN 782 in Hawaii (nuclear powered submarine) and I went on my first deployment. I was super depressed hadn't seen my family, drama on the boat, and the mission was so critical that I couldn't handle the responsibilities. We pulled into Yokosuka Japan for a week and I took the train to Akihabara. I found a Talgese MG and feel in love. I built models underway after my watches and I personally believed gunpla saved my life.
I got into gunpla when I was a kid with the old SD series based on the Romance of the 3 kingdoms and eventually moved on to proportional builds which is all I've been into every since. I was a Gundam fan, because I fell in love with the designs I saw at a local toy store in which they sold figures of the Gundam W kits. I never saw the show, I didn't knew what it was, but the aesthetics blew my mind. My mom got me the Altron Gundam that day. And then, almost 20 years later, my local hobby store showed me a catalog of gunpla and they told me there were gonna be bringing some- and I got me an RG Gundam Astray Red Frame, and I fell in love. I actually got into gunpla just some days ago from a friend since he sent videos on custom painting gunplas and I got hooked. And now two days ago I got my first kit and it is the RG Gundam Exia and I loved it so much and I enjoyed assembling it and adding panel lines and decals. For my first gunpla I’d say it’s pretty good. While I was assembling the gunpla I noticed that I’m not stressed nor tired of it. I find building, panel lining, adding decals on gunplas relaxing to me. Helps me keep my mind at ease and be rewarded at the end
I got into gunpla more or less on a whim. I was getting into the anime through 0079, and decided to try out building Char’s Zaku just for the heck of it. About 2 months later I’m having a hard time finding the space to put all my models.
The look and transformation really reminds me of LFO's and their transformation into their ground mobility mode. There's something simple and effective when it comes to mecha basically just sitting down to make a transformation rather than the typical "laying down with a shield of it's face" that most Gundams use.
What got me into gunpla is actually your videos. My first ever video that I watched was you review of MG Barbatos after that I am hooked and just watch every videos you posted. After few videos I asked my wife if I could buy one and the rest is history. Gunpla means a lot to me. It became my stress reliever after a long day at work or having a down time from taking care of our new born baby. Discovery this new hobby means a lot because someday I want my son and I to bond over this hobby.
I grew up watching Mazinger Z, Getter Robo, Macross and Transformers because my dad is a huge giant robot fan, so I ended up becoming one too. It was until my teenage years that I watched the original Gundam, and I just fell in love with it. I didn't know about the kits yet, though. Years later, I was browsing youtube as usual, and came across your review of the Unicorn Gundam, clicked on it, and was amazed by how intricate and cool looking it was, so I saved some money and got myself the Dynames. The day when Eclipse Gundam has came into the MG form, the kit itself was the game-changer to all the model kit builders out there. Now that was a good kit.

I got into Gunpla since I started to find a new hobby, and I also fell in love with the series, especially with Iron Blooded Orphans. Lupus Rex will forever be my favorite MS design too.
I saw a Barbatos Kit at Target and snagged it off the shelf. Went home and figured out I needed Nippers and a bunch of tools. Fast Forward a couple of months and I've installed 3 bookshelves to hold all the tools, paints, boxes, and kits! You've been my number one go-to for finding good kits and you've never steered me wrong! Would love to win that Barbatos you've shown off as it's eluded me like crazy. My younger sister gifted me a very small Char's Zaku II kit one year, and I was so impressed with the engineering while building it I went to a local hobby shop and picked up my first High Grade (08th MS Team RGM-79[G] Ground Type) the following weekend. I have around 3 dozen kits built just a short 2 years later, and no stopping in sight.
Having so much compatibility with other kits made me so excited for this kit EDIT: I also hope Bandai releases all the striker packs individually one day
The pandemic got me into gunpla and Gundam, and I believe that it’s the best thing that could have happened, getting to see the details and gimmicks in each grade just mesmerizes me
I first got into Gunpla back in the early 2000's when you could get the old non-grade kits in a supermarket toy isle. I always loved building stuff with Legos and Knex, and with Gundam Wing being the cool new show on tv then it was a natural step for me! I dropped off when I had built all that I could buy and had to get a job/save money. Then in 2018 I got back into the hobby after watching the Build Fighters series here on UA-cam and was astounded to see how far the tech for even the HGs had gone while I was away! It's so much fun and I even picked up painting! The best part is getting to know the wider Gunpla building community and seeing the astounding amount of work and love people put into their kits and getting inspired for my own builds.
Really, the thing that got me into Gunpla was watching UA-cam. Channels like yours inspired my to buy my first Gunpla a couple of days ago. I bought a HG 6th Form Barbatos, and i absolutely love him. I really expected them to be bigger, but I was very surprised when it turned out that is could basically crush him with one hand. I enjoyed every second of putting him together, and the satisfaction of having him done is immense. He is definitely not the last Gunpla model i'm buying, and is the start of my hoppy.
I'm still hyped with the upcoming Seed series Eclipse. And yes. Obligatory "They literally made a Gundam into a Battleship, Fanciest thing I've ever seen!"
@@chimeravidar7679 You are confusing two things like I was. Eclipse is a Manga series, but there is also a new Seed movie coming in 2022 that is not Eclipse (Eclipse happens between the 2 wars, the new movie will be after the 2nd).
For giveaway: I actually started liking mecha with zoids first, literally having my parents buy me a kit of it, and having my brother build it for me and play it until it broke(lol). It was in my second grade grade that I have watched Gundam seed that I started liking gundam and pretty much do the same routine I have with zoids kit back then, but develop a liking for the franchise itself on a deep level. It was until the release of Gundam 00 that pretty much made me love the gundam franchise on a deep level, and literally take gunpla collection seriously(more on 00 lineup), with my first actual kit that I've built is the HG 00 raiser faded edition.
Watched Iron Blooded Orphans on Netflix, did a google search, found you on UA-cam, brought a kit, told my wife a fib about the cost, built it and four months later I have a shelf full and a family bored of hearing about it!
My uncle got me I to gunpla when I was in grade school. Building gunpla is a calming, satisfying passtime. Seeing the end product always brings so much joy.
I have been building scale models for a long time, mostly tanks and stuff like that. On my birthday a couple of years ago a very close friend of mine who is super into gunpla bought me a kit and I’ve been hooked ever since. Gunpla is such a good hobby just to zone to and build something your self.
"Articulation is incredibly good" immediately shows it struggling to pull off a basic pose and the Gundam falla over. I swear he just says that about every kit nowadays
articulation =/= poseability. thats what i think anyway. like the pg unleashed rx-78-2 has a lot of points of articulation with the opening hatches but it doesn’t look very poseable.
If you wanna know the truth I got divorced about two years ago, and me and my wife’s relationship worsened I would start building kits to get my mind off things.
I actually got into Gundam very recently, only maybe a few months ago. I'd built my first kit, the 2007 RX-79BD-3 Blue Destiny Unit 3 that I picked up from a local Forbidden Planet. I've always loved LEGO, but as I was building I found gunpla gave me so much more satisfaction in the amount of detail you could find in such small packages, and finding your channel helped stoke the (frankly speaking) addiction that now plagues my dreams. I'm building my first MG, the Duel Gundam, as I watch this, and I look forward to so many more.
I got into gunpla just walking around hobby shops with my dad. I had always though they looked cool and never had any idea where to start or how to. So one Christmas my dad bought me the HG Johnny Riden zaku and we sat down and built it together. We didn’t have any tools or anything so it turned out really rough. We snapped each pice off the runners and just slapped them all together. There are massive nubs and stress marks everywhere but I keep it as one of my favorite kits I ever built. Not necessarily the design but it means a lot to me.
As a kid I was super interested in model kits+ planes etc, but hated to paint them. After a few years I stopped altogether. Before she died, my mom gave me a few Gundam and I didnt put them together because they didn't seem serious and required no paint or glue. Fast forward to last year, I got hit by a bus while walking and was paralyzed for six weeks. The only thing that worked was my hands and I was lying in bed for way too long! I asked a friend to bring them over and I ended up spending days straight falling in love with Gundam. I've gone through rehab and can (almost) fully move again, but I still buy and build Gundam kits because they remind me of my mom. We weren't close but she made an effort to connect with me, and I appreciate that so much.
I loved robots as a kid and bought a 10 dollar sand rock kit from a small stall in the mall when I was a young teen(late 90s). I didn’t even know it was a model at the time! From there I would save my money for months then go buy another one when I could. I stopped in highschool since I was getting older, but when we went into lockdown last year a friend of mine was getting into it to keep his sanity, so he got me to ttry building one( hg barbatos) and I have been building them since(over 50+). I’m a union carpenter so my job is rough on my body, but sitting down, having a nice beer and building (and painting, since I like customizing them) is my zen way of unwinding.
I got a HG vidar kit a few years ago and that is how I got into gunpla. Then I continued to watch IBO and other shows which kept snowballing. I will always enjoy building gunpla and I like the RG kits best. Great way to pass time and come out with amazing results. Love your reviews
Around my freshman year of high school I went to a Barnes and Noble and found a Gundam Mk-II Assault Kingdom figure. My reaction was essentially "wow, cool robot" and I started to collect the little things. Eventually I found ones that were in larger boxes. Curiously, I bought it. That HG Barbatos started my collection and it's my favorite thing to do now. My earlier ones didn't come out too well. I ended up cutting out the pieces for my first few with scissors. I even built two Real Grades this way. I've been working on improving my skills, and in a few weeks I'm gonna start airbrushing! Gunpla is my absolute favorite hobby. I love building and displaying them. They look awesome, and they're really relaxing, especially through college.
Like many other people; it was my friend who got me into gunpla. He hounded and hounded me to watch build fighters with him and when i eventually did I was immediately hooked. My first kit was actually the HGBF Build Strike and I loved it. Gunpla to me is a way to do something creative in your free time. The fact that anyone can build a gunpla is amazing to me and the platform that it sets out for people to go above and beyond with customs etc is why i love gunpla so much!
I have always been a Gundam fan since watching Gundam Wing for the first time on Toonami after school when I younger. Fast forward to last year when quarantine was starting in the USA and I started rewatching Gundam series and while searching on UA-cam your channel and a couple of Custom gunpla makers videos showed up in my recommend. Ended up binge watching a ton of videos and later that day when to a nearby hobby shop and and got the starter kit RX-78 and have been hooked ever since. This new hobby has been a way to relax and enjoying the process of building something. I have even started making plans for my first custom gunpla.
The first/last time my brother and I made Gunpla was back when Gundam Wing Endless Waltz was released on VHS. I got back into it when I spontaneously pre-ordered the 1/100 Tallgeese OZ-00MS Flugel and, not wanting to mess it up, I picked up some simple kits at Hobby Lobby. I instantly fell in love with the new engineering in the kits and quickly began learning proper nub removal and panel lining. To me Gunpla means relaxation and decompression. Clipping out parts can help melt stress away, and panel lining helps show me that I can take something great and make it that much better. Sure I may not be the best at panel lining or have the cleanest nub marks but I'm progressing and each new model is a testament and trophy of that progression.
I had heard about gunpla from my brother, he had seen some stuff about it on discord and thought i would like it since i was a big robot guy. I thought it seemed cool but i didn't have any money at the time so i kinda forgot about it, years later covid hits and I'm locked in the house with nothing to do, i have a weird dream that reminds me about gunpla. Less than a week later i had 3 gundams built with a 4th on the way. Since then I've built 18 more. Gunpla to me is more than just a hobby(addiction if you ask my bank account), it's been a gateway to one of the coolest community's ever. The passion people have for these pieces of plastic is amazing, and content creators like mecha are such a treat it's unreal.
Originally, my love of Gundam got me into gunpla. I started building my first kit, then ended up homeless before I could finish it. I didn’t touch another model kit for almost a decade. Last year I was sick with COVID and things weren’t looking great for me. A friend sent me a Freedom 2.0 to build as motivation to keep fighting and to help with my boredom over 6 weeks of not being able to move much. My last week of recovery, I finally had the strength to build it (finishing it on the 4th of July, which was also the day my son took his first steps). I’ve been building kits regularly since then.
I was about 10 (31 now). My dad got me and my brother three random model kits from the local hobby shop hoping to get us into models like he was. Those kits ended up being the zeta, double zeta and a shiny coat char zaku. All three of em master grades. This was a year before gundam wing was going to drop and introduce mainstream USA to the franchise. I’ve been in love with building them since then. I’m always trying to get friends to build them with me. Thanks dad!
Back when i was a kid my first gundam kit was NG 1/100 Double X Gundam with G falcon unit. I had no idea what it was but i asked my mother to get it for me and built it. This started my fascination for gundams. Fast forward a couple years when i was in china i got hooked on Gundam Seed which i watched in chinese dub. I was super amazed with the design of the freedom gundam and it became one of my favorite gundams since. Gundam had been a great therapeutic part of my life for the longest time i remember.

I started building really badly-built gunpla following my brothers. I was never confident in my building skills and so I was never fond of the building process, always fearing and making mistakes. During quarantine, decided to try out the RG Impulse based on your recommendation and never looked back. I've grown to appreciate and love the building process. Learned to embrace all the imperfections, makes the gunpla uniquely yours. 100% gonna continue building for the foreseeable future :)
Gundam started all mechs it’s full of huge metal, slim, bulky, and weirdly sexy sometimes the have been a huge part of my childhood watching building, whether it was gundam, seed, origin, 00, iron blooded orphans, unicorn, etc. they are AMAZING i would love to win but it’s just ft share my opinion on these beautiful classy mechs
I watched a youtuber's vlog from Japan in which he bought a model kit. The box was so cool looking it instantly made me want to know how to get one, but unfortunately the shipping costs were too high and I didn't have a way to order them. A few years later I got a gundam ad on amazon and was finally able to order one for a reasonable price! To me it's not a serious hobby, I enjoy being able to focus on the build and putting them on a shelf for show afterwards .
I got into gunpla over quarantine after being a lifelong gundam/mecha fan. It's really helped me by giving me something fun to focus on--it's also been great for boosting my productivity for other creative projects! My first kit was the HG Evangelion Unit 02, most recent was the RG Nu Gundam. So far, I've kept it exclusively 1/144 scale.
I got into gunpla because I have always loved giant robots. I guess it started with megus xlr when I was younger. Since then I have always liked looking at giant robots. I found out about gundam from one of my friends and since then I was hooked. I did not even know gunpla was a thing in till gundam build fighters came out. Then I looked around locally and found a kit at a barbed and noble. It was the build strike gundam. As I was working on it I found out how relaxed I felt. Before I knew it, a whole day had passed by and I felt great seeing my finished work. Building gunpla for me is a great stress reliever and let’s me focus my need to work with my hands into something I can be proud of at the end.
My first Gundam, which was gifted to me in the 80’s, was a diecast model of the RX78, just a few inches tall. I can’t remember if I’d even seen the show by then, but it was my favorite toy. It couldn’t move much, but I was in love. Some time after, I saw my granddad’s and uncle’s model kits of cars, tanks, and planes, and loved the idea of building something, though; my first model kit was a really small model of a WW2 battleship, and I ended up getting a few of those. Eventually, I also got small macross models, nothing too grand or complex, my love of models and anime and robots coming together. But that was just for a while, and being busy with other things meant I didn’t touch a model kit for decades. And i felt like I didn’t really want or need to, and that was fine. Even when I met my friends who had done their own gundam kits, i would appreciate the models, but not feel a real need to build one myself. I even told them, and myself, that I was happy just seeing the models, and I was, and maybe not. Then the pandemic hit, and basically i started to crave for some sort of stress release. I got back into watching Gundam, wached Build Divers, Re:, and eventually, SEED. At the same time, I got even more fascinated by the gunpla kits of these gun dams and other mobile suits, partly from watching review vids on MechaG’s channel and others’. Also at the same time, some of my friends who built gunpla kept sharing their projects and wishlists. It was like perfect brew, but it didn’t do anything - yet. Then i shared to one of my modeler friends that i was starting to think i’d enjoy using a pair of nippers on a runner, and thinking about building my own kit. That very day, he ordered and sent me my first pair of nippers, an exacto knife, and a cutting board. I thanked him when i received them; i thought he was kidding. But now I had tools and no kit. It would take another week before I could decide on my first kit, going through reviews all over UA-cam to make my choice. It would be another week before I could receive it by courier. The Freedom 2.0 box was gorgeous, the feel of the plastic like some kind of dream. I started building it slowly that day, using simple techniques learned from my friends and from various UA-camrs. When I finished it a week after, really slow build, i then thought about panel lining… And yesterday, I put the first decals on it, haha. (Straight build only, though my friend who sent me my first tools has been offering to send me paint, but to buy my own brushes.) It’s been great. Gives me an hour or so a day when I wanna relax a bit to add a decal, fix some panel lines, clean up a nub i missed, or just pose it. Never once did I regret getting it, or spending so much time slowly working on it. My modeler friends now tell me that I’m now hooked, and I should just accept the fact… So I got an Earthree, and I can admit, yeah, I am hooked. And happier for it.
In 2017 I just started college and was in a really bad spot in life. My friend pulled me out after class and we went to our usual comic book store which happened to started to sell gunpla. He bought one per usual as I was just tagging along and he threw a kit at me which was a EFF zeta unicorn (I believe). I built it and I’ve never felt better. It reminded me of my childhood when I first did LEGOs and I was really invested in Engineering as well. So honestly Gunpla has made a huge impact on my life and will always thank my friend for looking out for me 🙂
I remember starting because I really always loved the gundam series, and I remember seeing a beautiful master grade Zaku II char custom at my comic shop...it was insane. When I got older and started making some money I convinced my wife to let me buy some gear and some kits. I did an SD wing zero first build. This week I'm doing the RG Impulse. The journey has been great and I think im ready to run back through my builds and customize and paint. Ty for your vids man, they really bring the enthusiasm. The eclipse is gorgeous 😍.
My older sister got me the MG Wing Gundam for my 21st birthday. Up until then i had totally forget about gunpla since i was a child. I remember seeing the kits in our local mall but they were always way too expensive. If i was lucky i might have gotten an SD kit or something. But man, the nostalgia bomb. I about cried holding the box in my hand just imagining how happy i would have been holding it 15 years ago. I'm now about 8 kits in and i don't plan on stopping any time soon.
My Dad got me into Gunpla. He was into plastic model kits in his youth and I built a few with him. Some time in the early aughts he got me the NG 1/144 God Gundam (Sold as the Burning Gundam in the US). About a decade later I started getting interested in Gundam and Gunpla and had hoped to make a few with him before he died of cancer. I picked up a 1/144 HG Gundam Mk. II revive at Barnes and Nobels after he died, and I've stuck with it ever since.
I got into gunpla with the straight imports for those mid 90's wing and X kits. It and the shows on Toonami sparked a love of engineering. I'm a software engineer now and I took a long 15 year gap from gunpla. I found my old kits (broken and still repairing) Burned through almost 200 kits since covid and I am finally getting back in tough with my engineering and creative love of robots. I build the kits during conference calls and it centers me. With resin printing, I plan to release stls for custom armors in the whole GM line that Bandai dropped (Aqua GM, Semi-Striker, III Bulldog, Trainer, Light Armor, Juggler)
My older cusion was very into Gundam as a series and dabbled in the kits now and again, whenever I was at their house he would let me play with them ( carefully ). Unfortunately he passed away in a car accident but, his love for the franchise and models stuck with me and I’ve become a big fan because of him. Any time I’m snapping a model together, it reminds me of him.
Being bored and watching iron blooded orphans during quarantine is what got me into gundam. But the thing that got me into gunpla was watching y-tubers like you and many of the speed build Chanel's. Also I have already built a barbatose which was the high grade barbatose lupus which was a very fun build and I would love to have another barby as my second kit even if it may count as 6 kits in one. TLDR, Gundam youtubers like you got me into gunpla, I have already built a hg barbatose lupus 1/144 and I would love to have another barbatose.
I first got into gunpla about 9 years ago when I was looking for a new hobby since LEGOs got too expensive to buy with my monthly allowance... I picked up the HG star build strike, gundam mk-2(the non revive old 2002 one) and I instantly fell in love and I'm still building gunpla to this day... For me, gunpla is one of the few things that allowed me to stay somewhat happy for slightly less than half of my life
it started back then in my early kid's days. being a 9-10 year who grew up in a small town in Bali Indonesia. I've been a Gundam fan for a long time; a giant-robot fan for even longer. But I only started building models recently. I had an interest for a long time, but it only really came to fruition during the pandemic. On top of living alone during quarantine, I went through a pretty brutal break up. Before I knew it, my life-long anxiety had ratcheted up to new heights. I needed a new hobby; something I could focus on, something that could help me relax, and something that could help me feel connected to others. Gunpla (and its community) didn't solve my problems, but its been a big help when I need it. Thanks so much everyone.
My dad got me into Gundam when i was 3. He always had the original MG Wing Gundam, The Buster Gundam, and GP01 Zephranthes. My first model was the first God Gundam kit, at 5 years old. My passion has only continued to grow since.
I have always known about it but never really got into it, until I saw your videos and how deep this hobby could go. I build them with my mom, we used to build puzzles but this is much cooler.
I picked up the HG Fighting Action Gundam Wing EW kits way back. Ten years later my brother kept collecting and then I realized how much I loved building models, especially Gundam mobile suits!
What got me into Gunpla is that when I was at the Japanese supermarket once my friend dad bought me an SD Kit and then I learn more about gunpla when I was looking at my recommended and then Gio San Pedro RG Nu Gundam Build ASMR video appeared and then I watch it and then I learned about Gunpla Grades and bigger kits and then I landed on this channel which Inspired me to buy more gunpla kits and then it helped to take away my boredness and stress of quarantine because I found the Gunpla kits are really fun to build.
My mom bought me a 1/144 Zoloat from V Gundam for my birthday because it was on sale at a local AEON. I was like 5 and didn't know what model kits were until then. I loved that thing, nub marks and gouged plastic and all. I met some friends in middle school who were gunpla veterans and they introduced me to proper building techniques via HG 00 kits. I was really impressed by the difference between the 1/144 Zoloat and the HG 00 Gundam, which was brand new at the time. I've been hooked since.
Wing Gundam was the first Gundam series I watched as a kid and I really adored it. My uncles bought the old HG Wing Gundam Zero Custom, built it, then gave it to me. I didn't build it myself but that was the first time I ever owned a Gunpla. Few years later in highschool I got some more HG Seed kits like Sword Impulse and Infinite Justice, then I got my first RG which was the Freedom. Ever since then whenever I had the spare cash I'd get HG & RG kits, and now that I'm a working adult I've been buying Gunpla almost every month. I even recently did my first painted work, HGCE Sinanju which I painted only with withs metallic markers, and I'm really proud of it. Needless to say, Gunpla will forever be my #1 hobby, and I don't think I'll ever stop building them.
Gunpla was something I picked up recently with the pandemic to thank. It gives me a calming zen like feeling to do something creative with my hands that requires focus, it's really helped me weather the isolation of being stuck working/living in my tiny apartment.
I got into gunpla a little over a year ago. I had built a japanese model once when I was in high school and remember always seeing gunpla but not being able to afford them. Now that I'm an adult I was in a hobby store with my wife and she encouraged me to get one to maybe help with my cptsd and be more of a process than just buying an action figure. It was the first thing that helped me focus past flashbacks and the hyper vigalence and while sometimes it is a crutch lining each part before assembling them helps me focus on the moment and it's been really helpful to me mentally and this hobby means a lot to me. I already have a barby and expac so if I win find someone who can't afford the hobby or wants to try it and give it to them. Barbatos mg was my first gunpla, if I win I would like to help it be someone else's, maybe it will help them like it did me.
I got into gunpla because it helped me with my depression. I had been using an x-acto knife to do some not so great things to my body. I dragged myself out of bed one morning because I promised my little cousin a present for his birthday. I went inside a nearby hobby store and saw the MG Shining Gundam on a shelf. I had the old msia figure in the early 2000's but ended up losing it during a move. I didn't know what gunpla was at the time, but a wave of nostalgia hit me. It was after doing research on G gundam that led me down the gunpla path. 200+ kits and 6 years later I can say I'm proud of myself and what I do.
A friend of mine gave me a kit after they cleaned out their closet. HG Zerachiel. And already being a mecha fan I was hooked. And for me it’s been some of the most fun I’ve ever had. It’s made me feel like a kid again and is helping me start a new chapter in my life that I don’t think I would be in without it.
My cousin got me into model kits, it was when I visit Vietnam for Lunar New Year. My first model kit was the LBX series. When I got back to America and found out that there are other kits. Gunpla seems to got my attention, first gunpla was 00 raiser and I’ve been building since.
My Uncle got me into gunpla originally, he had bought some kits but never built them,and ended up giving them to my brother and I. My brother got the HG GP01FB, while mine was the HGUC Char's Z'Gok. I didn't build much for a while, until I went to college and could buy my own kits freely. My first kit that started my entire gunpla addiction was the Schwarzritter, followed by the HG Barbatos Lupus the next day which remains one of my favorite kits. To me, gunpla and gundam is like a step up from lego, with the building, although it feels much more involved than anything else. Not only do you get to build and feel how the moving parts work, but you also get a fully poseable figure after you're done building! I couldn't even imagine life without building gunpla now
Ever since I was a kid, I was really into mechas but unfortunately, I don't have the money and tools way back then. I got into gunpla because of the sale I saw online. I was stuck between HG Grand daddy and HG Barbie. I ended up choosing barbatos as my 1st ever gunpla. For me, it's more than a stress reliever, it's more like satisfying the inner kid in me (tho I'm still pretty young) who likes building/crafting things then ending up with a cool looking mecha.
I have Parkinson’s and my doctor recommended modeling, for my dexterity. I’ve been collecting MP and 3rd party Transformers, so I found Flametoys, and then got into Gunpla. It’s relaxing and helps with my motor function.
I have mild tremors, one of the best therapy for me is to build plastic model kits. I couldn't take pictures steadily with a phone, but at least I could carve and remove nubs with hobby knives

@Cityslicker76 I have a Green cheek, so I built a spry booth and placed it in a window with a fan to draw out air. He is my wife’s bird and I love him.I’m a accomplished Chef and did well for myself early on in life so I lucked out. You might try spray paint out doors. There is plenty of people doing it that way. I’m glad you found the hobby, good luck, and always be patient with yourself. Don’t ever be afraid to push your limits. If life gets uncomfortable then ease back a little and hit it again. Mind over matter, stay positive.

I caught my son at about 3am building something in our dining room and although first irritated at the time I further inspected what it was he was building and now currently can’t get enough of Gunpla!!! I also now have dedicated an entire room to building Gundam kits. Watching the Gundam series and movies as well as all the great Gunpla content on UA-cam is how I spend an extreme amount of time. Thanks to my son!!!! Oh and by the way, I’ve found myself up at 3 am building Gundam kits on more than one occasion.
I actually discovered gunpla while looking for masterpiece transformers, I immediately drew a connection between optimus prime's head and that of a gundam (I know I'm sorry sue me). I started with the HGBD Gundam 00 Diver and the 1/100 Gundam Barbatos. Now online I posted 2 other kits claiming them to be my first as I was ashamed of how they looked, cut out with nail clippers and I had a little sand paper lying around. It was always hard to actually get gunpla as it was either order it online or go 100+ km down to the nearest city (I live in rural Australia) to pick them up. At first they helped me build a bit more patience which actually started to translate over into my life. They kept me busy during covid and online schooling. But I hit a pretty rough patch with my mental health. I had 0 motivation to do anything. I lost relationships, I fell behind in school. I was always on the verge of giving up entirely. But I had gunpla, and having something to do, even if it was small, it gave me a sence of accomplishment that I was severely lacking in life. Starting from that, I was pull myself out of that massive all encompassing void. This was around a month ago that i seriously began to focus on my health. As of now, I've built around 50 or so (at least one of each major grade) and I would go as far to say that the each played a part in saving my life. Now I know that might sound stupid or dumb but I treasure each of these kits more than I can say. So yeah, that's a basic summary of what they mean to me. Thanks for reading if you got this far! There IS a connection between the Gundam head and Optimus Prime's head. The guy who designed the original Optimus Prime (known as Convoy in Japan) was Shōji Kawamori, who is best known for co-creating Macross (known as Robotech in the west). Prime's head was based on the Gundam, and Kawamori would later assist with the mechanical designs of the Gundams in Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory, which takes place between the original Mobile Suit Gundam series and its sequel, Zeta Gundam.
When I started off my gunpla journey, I was sometimes twisting the pieces off of the runners. I'd say you had a better start than me lol.

I’ve always loved seeing some of the customizations builders have done. To me, it means a lot because it’s a form of art, and for a lot of us, it’s something that brings us joy, and peace.
I remember walking past a hobby shop when I was a kid I was at a shopping centre and I walked past a hobby shop and I saw these insane robot figures, and it mesmerised me. I really wanted one but I was still young so I didn't get it. It was stuck in my mind for ages and after a while, I forgot about it, but I actually came across one of your videos and it all came back to me and I got my first kit then and I've been pretty engrossed in the hobby ever since. It has helped to get past quarantine and it's just calming in some aspects, and the satisfaction of the finished build is just amazing. The amount of things you can also do afterwards (painting/customising) is just mind-blowing as well.
Honestly It was Jobby The Hong and him talking about Iron blooded orphans and so I got curious and watched it, then rewatch it again after falling in love with the series. So after that I wanted to build a Gundam frame so I bought the hgibo astaroth origin built it, then customized it and ever since then I've been loving gunplay.

When I was sick and stuck in the hospital ibo just came out and when I watched the first couple of episodes I was hooked on gundam, and then I discovered that there where models of the barbatos and when I got it in my hands I fell in love, and for the past couple of years I have just been hooked on gunpla, which has never seemed boring to me no matter what was going on in my life
I remember watching Gundam Wing when it first hit Toonami back in the day. I recorded every episode I could and would re-watch them over and over again. And then one day I was walking through my local grocery store and saw one of the old no grade wing kits. I was so excited that I asked my mom to get it for me and after about 10 minutes of begging, she agreed and got it for me. It was the Sandrock And I played with it so much. Then I started going on the Internet and learn there was more than just Gundam wing. Looking at all the designs pulling up on my 56K modem was just awesome and made me fall in love with the franchise as a whole.
i wish i was born in the time Gundam wing was airing i want to feel how you felt back then so bad lol im more of a gundam seed-unicorn kid still love looking back on the old stuff tho gundam wing is one of my favorites however nothing will beat 08th ms team in my opinion
I remember the night I first laid my eyes on a Gundam. It was an afternoon in a local anime store, they had a massive Gundam wall and my interest piqued instantly. It was like a part of my conscious had been unlocked to the sheer possiblities Gunpla provides. I was an early middle schooler at the time, the next time I went out with my mother I bought the Zeta Plus. I had no clue how to build kits, so I popped every part out with hand and got cut up a few times. While the product looked like I intentionally messed it up, I was so proud of what I was able to do and I have been going down and down the rabbit hole since
I got in to gunpla after being a little kid surfing youtube aimlessly looking at cool robot stuff and stumbling across the franchise, I grew up a bit, found out more about it, and eventually started building, I'm not good by any stretch of the word but it's just fun. Gunpla to me is a process, I put work into the figure and I get enjoyment directly from that work, the build, and the end product. Gunpla has unironically changed how I look at action figures
Long story short: I always loved building, starting with legos, then discovered gundams anime and merchandise thanks to my brother. The first Gundam reviewers I subscribed was rrobert184. Then when I was at the age of having a pair of nippers and to build more advanced kits, I started gunpla. First gunpla: RG Unicorn, a very enjoyable Build for me
I saw it on youtube and i just wanted one. I bought my first kit, mg 00 raiser(it was because it was the first gundam anime i had watched. They build process is calming and the end product is just so mesmerising. There is also the mindset that the next kit is gonna be the last because of financial problems but... you cant stop (videos like these are also a reason😂).
My parents got me my first gunpla kit from toys r us in 2001 for my birthday. The first kit I ever got was wing gundam with the heero yuy figurine. It was an amazing build with my parents that I will never forget! Gunpla helps me relax and honestly brings me so much nostalgia for my childhood. I love this hobby so much but it definitely leaves my wallet empty! I just got first perfect grade this past Saturday. I can't wait to start building it! If anyone wants to know it is the PG unleashed RX-78-2 Gundam. I know I am late for the competition but I just wanted to share my experience and love for this hobby here.

I was actually hooked into Gunpla when I was four years old when my brother had a 1/144 No Grade Saviour Gundam, which hooked me into the franchise. But me, being more of a destroyer back then, kept wrecking what Gunpla we had back then, including the MG Destiny (To which I still regret to this day at age 19). But it wasn't until I turned 18 when I got instantly hooked unto Gunpla again when I decided to give it another go by buying the HG Saviour and Gaia (Which are poor kits articulation wise and I brought it because I liked the Seed Destiny designs) and later the HG Justice Knight and the 00 Sky. And since then, I added five MGs onto my shelf and still collect more whenever possible
Stumbled across one at a toy store, instantly hooked, it means the world to me and I am not giving it up anytime soon.
This channel got me into Gunpla I came across your channel while I was away from my family living in a hotel in NYC while being on orders to help with the COVID 19 pandemic early 2020 ever since I’ve built a kit almost every week and I do them with my son so to me it’s something that keeps my mind off the negative and something I hope my son enjoys when he gets older I don’t want to be in the contest since I have this kit and accessory pack I thought I would just share thanks for this channel and thanks for helping me get into a hobby that I love and can share with my family.
My sister indirectly got me into gunpla, a while back she had bought a pack of stickers and gave me the ones she didn’t care about. Within the pile was an interesting looking yellow, red, and blue robot, cue me spending way to much time on Amazon comparing Gundam models and figures. In the end I went with the revive granddaddy, my wallet hasn’t been the same since.....
Since then gunpla has kinda been an escape, for a few hours at a time I just turn on some background noice and build a scaled figure. It’s just become a nice hobby to ignore the news and current world affairs relive some stress and have some fun

I never really got into Gunpla as I never could afford the kits but I still love watching videos like this because of the constant times me and my father watched Gundam together. Our love for Sci-if is so strong that the fresh grim and dusty Gundam settings were a joy to behold. Watching you ever since the Astaroth Origin days and loving all the reviews especially due to not having any money for Gunpla.

I was a lego Bionicle moc builder for almost 20 years . I always wanted to try a gundam and my first one was the RG Amatsu Mina,a difficult kit for sure but a rather pleasant first build . After that i watched the Iron blooded orphans anime during the first pandemic lockdown and bought another 7 HG's from that line asap.
I got into gunpla as a teenager but stopped around 19 as I moved to study abroad. I met my best friend around 24 but he soon moved away to another country. However, we have been getting in touch ever since. My friend, who is a civil engineer, revealed to me that he has been back to gunpla for quite sometimes and this is one of the reasons for getting me back into gunpla 12 years later as we could find something more interesting to talk about despite the distance. The other main reason is that gunpla is something that actually cures stressful life and also depressions. It is something that I was able to find the joy to feel a bit more alive. For me, building a gunpla helps transfer me to another universe with mesmerizing characters, philosophy, and music
My barber got me into gunpla. In 2019 I was having my hair cut and we were talking about anime and other stuff and he brought it up, a few weeks after that and I was binge-watching your videos. It's honestly one of my favorite hobbies and is just really fun to do whilst watching a show or listening to good music
I was stationed on the USS Mississippi SSN 782 in Hawaii (nuclear powered submarine) and I went on my first deployment. I was super depressed hadn't seen my family, drama on the boat, and the mission was so critical that I couldn't handle the responsibilities. We pulled into Yokosuka Japan for a week and I took the train to Akihabara. I found a Talgese MG and feel in love. I built models underway after my watches and I personally believed gunpla saved my life.
I got into gunpla when I was a kid with the old SD series based on the Romance of the 3 kingdoms and eventually moved on to proportional builds which is all I've been into every since. To me Gunpla has always been a part of my life but is probably my favorite form of merchandise for a franchise I get attached to, I almost never buy gunpla from a series I have no attachment to

I was a Gundam fan, because I fell in love with the designs I saw at a local toy store in which they sold figures of the Gundam W kits. I never saw the show, I didn't knew what it was, but the aesthetics blew my mind. My mom got me the Altron Gundam that day. And then, almost 20 years later, my local hobby store showed me a catalog of gunpla and they told me there were gonna be bringing some- and I got me an RG Gundam Astray Red Frame, and I fell in love. I actually got into gunpla just some days ago from a friend since he sent videos on custom painting gunplas and I got hooked. And now two days ago I got my first kit and it is the RG Gundam Exia and I loved it so much and I enjoyed assembling it and adding panel lines and decals. For my first gunpla I’d say it’s pretty good. While I was assembling the gunpla I noticed that I’m not stressed nor tired of it. I find building, panel lining, adding decals on gunplas relaxing to me. Helps me keep my mind at ease and be rewarded at the end

I got into gunpla more or less on a whim. I was getting into the anime through 0079, and decided to try out building Char’s Zaku just for the heck of it. About 2 months later I’m having a hard time finding the space to put all my models.
The look and transformation really reminds me of LFO's and their transformation into their ground mobility mode. There's something simple and effective when it comes to mecha basically just sitting down to make a transformation rather than the typical "laying down with a shield of it's face" that most Gundams use.
What got me into gunpla is actually your videos. My first ever video that I watched was you review of MG Barbatos after that I am hooked and just watch every videos you posted. After few videos I asked my wife if I could buy one and the rest is history. Gunpla means a lot to me. It became my stress reliever after a long day at work or having a down time from taking care of our new born baby. Discovery this new hobby means a lot because someday I want my son and I to bond over this hobby.
I grew up watching Mazinger Z, Getter Robo, Macross and Transformers because my dad is a huge giant robot fan, so I ended up becoming one too. It was until my teenage years that I watched the original Gundam, and I just fell in love with it. I didn't know about the kits yet, though.
Years later, I was browsing youtube as usual, and came across your review of the Unicorn Gundam, clicked on it, and was amazed by how intricate and cool looking it was, so I saved some money and got myself the Dynames.
It's been an amazing ride since then, I finally found something I genuinely enjoy.

I got into gunpla after my mom bought me a magazine back in 2000. It was a gunpla magazine that had the entire catalog up to that point. Once i realized how deep the rabbit hole went, i jumped right in
The day when Eclipse Gundam has came into the MG form, the kit itself was the game-changer to all the model kit builders out there.

I got into Gunpla since I started to find a new hobby, and I also fell in love with the series, especially with Iron Blooded Orphans.
Lupus Rex will forever be my favorite MS design too.
I saw a Barbatos Kit at Target and snagged it off the shelf. Went home and figured out I needed Nippers and a bunch of tools. Fast Forward a couple of months and I've installed 3 bookshelves to hold all the tools, paints, boxes, and kits! You've been my number one go-to for finding good kits and you've never steered me wrong! Would love to win that Barbatos you've shown off as it's eluded me like crazy. My younger sister gifted me a very small Char's Zaku II kit one year, and I was so impressed with the engineering while building it I went to a local hobby shop and picked up my first High Grade (08th MS Team RGM-79[G] Ground Type) the following weekend. I have around 3 dozen kits built just a short 2 years later, and no stopping in sight.
Having so much compatibility with other kits made me so excited for this kit EDIT: I also hope Bandai releases all the striker packs individually one day

The pandemic got me into gunpla and Gundam, and I believe that it’s the best thing that could have happened, getting to see the details and gimmicks in each grade just mesmerizes me
I first got into Gunpla back in the early 2000's when you could get the old non-grade kits in a supermarket toy isle. I always loved building stuff with Legos and Knex, and with Gundam Wing being the cool new show on tv then it was a natural step for me! I dropped off when I had built all that I could buy and had to get a job/save money.
Then in 2018 I got back into the hobby after watching the Build Fighters series here on UA-cam and was astounded to see how far the tech for even the HGs had gone while I was away! It's so much fun and I even picked up painting!
The best part is getting to know the wider Gunpla building community and seeing the astounding amount of work and love people put into their kits and getting inspired for my own builds.
Really, the thing that got me into Gunpla was watching UA-cam. Channels like yours inspired my to buy my first Gunpla a couple of days ago. I bought a HG 6th Form Barbatos, and i absolutely love him. I really expected them to be bigger, but I was very surprised when it turned out that is could basically crush him with one hand. I enjoyed every second of putting him together, and the satisfaction of having him done is immense. He is definitely not the last Gunpla model i'm buying, and is the start of my hoppy.
I'm still hyped with the upcoming Seed series Eclipse.

I actually started liking mecha with zoids first, literally having my parents buy me a kit of it, and having my brother build it for me and play it until it broke(lol). It was in my second grade grade that I have watched Gundam seed that I started liking gundam and pretty much do the same routine I have with zoids kit back then, but develop a liking for the franchise itself on a deep level. It was until the release of Gundam 00 that pretty much made me love the gundam franchise on a deep level, and literally take gunpla collection seriously(more on 00 lineup), with my first actual kit that I've built is the HG 00 raiser faded edition.
Watched Iron Blooded Orphans on Netflix, did a google search, found you on UA-cam, brought a kit, told my wife a fib about the cost, built it and four months later I have a shelf full and a family bored of hearing about it!
My uncle got me I to gunpla when I was in grade school. Building gunpla is a calming, satisfying passtime. Seeing the end product always brings so much joy.
I have been building scale models for a long time, mostly tanks and stuff like that. On my birthday a couple of years ago a very close friend of mine who is super into gunpla bought me a kit and I’ve been hooked ever since. Gunpla is such a good hobby just to zone to and build something your self.

"Articulation is incredibly good" immediately shows it struggling to pull off a basic pose and the Gundam falla over. I swear he just says that about every kit nowadays
articulation =/= poseability. thats what i think anyway. like the pg unleashed rx-78-2 has a lot of points of articulation with the opening hatches but it doesn’t look very poseable.

I actually got into Gundam very recently, only maybe a few months ago. I'd built my first kit, the 2007 RX-79BD-3 Blue Destiny Unit 3 that I picked up from a local Forbidden Planet. I've always loved LEGO, but as I was building I found gunpla gave me so much more satisfaction in the amount of detail you could find in such small packages, and finding your channel helped stoke the (frankly speaking) addiction that now plagues my dreams. I'm building my first MG, the Duel Gundam, as I watch this, and I look forward to so many more.
I got into gunpla just walking around hobby shops with my dad. I had always though they looked cool and never had any idea where to start or how to. So one Christmas my dad bought me the HG Johnny Riden zaku and we sat down and built it together. We didn’t have any tools or anything so it turned out really rough. We snapped each pice off the runners and just slapped them all together. There are massive nubs and stress marks everywhere but I keep it as one of my favorite kits I ever built. Not necessarily the design but it means a lot to me.
As a kid I was super interested in model kits+ planes etc, but hated to paint them. After a few years I stopped altogether. Before she died, my mom gave me a few Gundam and I didnt put them together because they didn't seem serious and required no paint or glue. Fast forward to last year, I got hit by a bus while walking and was paralyzed for six weeks. The only thing that worked was my hands and I was lying in bed for way too long! I asked a friend to bring them over and I ended up spending days straight falling in love with Gundam. I've gone through rehab and can (almost) fully move again, but I still buy and build Gundam kits because they remind me of my mom. We weren't close but she made an effort to connect with me, and I appreciate that so much.
I loved robots as a kid and bought a 10 dollar sand rock kit from a small stall in the mall when I was a young teen(late 90s). I didn’t even know it was a model at the time! From there I would save my money for months then go buy another one when I could.
I stopped in highschool since I was getting older, but when we went into lockdown last year a friend of mine was getting into it to keep his sanity, so he got me to ttry building one( hg barbatos) and I have been building them since(over 50+).
I’m a union carpenter so my job is rough on my body, but sitting down, having a nice beer and building (and painting, since I like customizing them) is my zen way of unwinding.
I got a HG vidar kit a few years ago and that is how I got into gunpla. Then I continued to watch IBO and other shows which kept snowballing. I will always enjoy building gunpla and I like the RG kits best. Great way to pass time and come out with amazing results. Love your reviews
Around my freshman year of high school I went to a Barnes and Noble and found a Gundam Mk-II Assault Kingdom figure. My reaction was essentially "wow, cool robot" and I started to collect the little things. Eventually I found ones that were in larger boxes. Curiously, I bought it. That HG Barbatos started my collection and it's my favorite thing to do now. My earlier ones didn't come out too well. I ended up cutting out the pieces for my first few with scissors. I even built two Real Grades this way. I've been working on improving my skills, and in a few weeks I'm gonna start airbrushing! Gunpla is my absolute favorite hobby. I love building and displaying them. They look awesome, and they're really relaxing, especially through college.
Like many other people; it was my friend who got me into gunpla. He hounded and hounded me to watch build fighters with him and when i eventually did I was immediately hooked. My first kit was actually the HGBF Build Strike and I loved it.
Gunpla to me is a way to do something creative in your free time. The fact that anyone can build a gunpla is amazing to me and the platform that it sets out for people to go above and beyond with customs etc is why i love gunpla so much!
I have always been a Gundam fan since watching Gundam Wing for the first time on Toonami after school when I younger. I saw the commercials about the model kits but I was not in an area where hobby shops were common. Fast forward to last year when quarantine was starting in the USA and I started rewatching Gundam series and while searching on UA-cam your channel and a couple of Custom gunpla makers videos showed up in my recommend. Ended up binge watching a ton of videos and later that day when to a nearby hobby shop and and got the starter kit RX-78 and have been hooked ever since. This new hobby has been a way to relax and enjoying the process of building something. I have even started making plans for my first custom gunpla.
The first/last time my brother and I made Gunpla was back when Gundam Wing Endless Waltz was released on VHS. I got back into it when I spontaneously pre-ordered the 1/100 Tallgeese OZ-00MS Flugel and, not wanting to mess it up, I picked up some simple kits at Hobby Lobby. I instantly fell in love with the new engineering in the kits and quickly began learning proper nub removal and panel lining.
To me Gunpla means relaxation and decompression. Clipping out parts can help melt stress away, and panel lining helps show me that I can take something great and make it that much better. Sure I may not be the best at panel lining or have the cleanest nub marks but I'm progressing and each new model is a testament and trophy of that progression.
I had heard about gunpla from my brother, he had seen some stuff about it on discord and thought i would like it since i was a big robot guy. I thought it seemed cool but i didn't have any money at the time so i kinda forgot about it, years later covid hits and I'm locked in the house with nothing to do, i have a weird dream that reminds me about gunpla. Less than a week later i had 3 gundams built with a 4th on the way. Since then I've built 18 more.
Gunpla to me is more than just a hobby(addiction if you ask my bank account), it's been a gateway to one of the coolest community's ever. The passion people have for these pieces of plastic is amazing, and content creators like mecha are such a treat it's unreal.
Originally, my love of Gundam got me into gunpla. I started building my first kit, then ended up homeless before I could finish it.
I didn’t touch another model kit for almost a decade. Last year I was sick with COVID and things weren’t looking great for me. A friend sent me a Freedom 2.0 to build as motivation to keep fighting and to help with my boredom over 6 weeks of not being able to move much. My last week of recovery, I finally had the strength to build it (finishing it on the 4th of July, which was also the day my son took his first steps). I’ve been building kits regularly since then.
I was about 10 (31 now). My dad got me and my brother three random model kits from the local hobby shop hoping to get us into models like he was. Those kits ended up being the zeta, double zeta and a shiny coat char zaku. All three of em master grades. This was a year before gundam wing was going to drop and introduce mainstream USA to the franchise. I’ve been in love with building them since then. I’m always trying to get friends to build them with me. Thanks dad!
Back when i was a kid my first gundam kit was NG 1/100 Double X Gundam with G falcon unit. I had no idea what it was but i asked my mother to get it for me and built it. This started my fascination for gundams. Fast forward a couple years when i was in china i got hooked on Gundam Seed which i watched in chinese dub. I was super amazed with the design of the freedom gundam and it became one of my favorite gundams since. Gundam had been a great therapeutic part of my life for the longest time i remember.

Gundam started all mechs it’s full of huge metal, slim, bulky, and weirdly sexy sometimes the have been a huge part of my childhood watching building, whether it was gundam, seed, origin, 00, iron blooded orphans, unicorn, etc. they are AMAZING i would love to win but it’s just ft share my opinion on these beautiful classy mechs
I watched a youtuber's vlog from Japan in which he bought a model kit. The box was so cool looking it instantly made me want to know how to get one, but unfortunately the shipping costs were too high and I didn't have a way to order them. A few years later I got a gundam ad on amazon and was finally able to order one for a reasonable price! To me it's not a serious hobby, I enjoy being able to focus on the build and putting them on a shelf for show afterwards .
I got into gunpla over quarantine after being a lifelong gundam/mecha fan. It's really helped me by giving me something fun to focus on--it's also been great for boosting my productivity for other creative projects!
My first kit was the HG Evangelion Unit 02, most recent was the RG Nu Gundam. So far, I've kept it exclusively 1/144 scale.

I got into gunpla because I have always loved giant robots. I guess it started with megus xlr when I was younger. Since then I have always liked looking at giant robots. I found out about gundam from one of my friends and since then I was hooked. I did not even know gunpla was a thing in till gundam build fighters came out. Then I looked around locally and found a kit at a barbed and noble. It was the build strike gundam. As I was working on it I found out how relaxed I felt. Before I knew it, a whole day had passed by and I felt great seeing my finished work. Building gunpla for me is a great stress reliever and let’s me focus my need to work with my hands into something I can be proud of at the end.
My first Gundam, which was gifted to me in the 80’s, was a diecast model of the RX78, just a few inches tall. I can’t remember if I’d even seen the show by then, but it was my favorite toy. It couldn’t move much, but I was in love. Some time after, I saw my granddad’s and uncle’s model kits of cars, tanks, and planes, and loved the idea of building something, though; my first model kit was a really small model of a WW2 battleship, and I ended up getting a few of those. Eventually, I also got small macross models, nothing too grand or complex, my love of models and anime and robots coming together. But that was just for a while, and being busy with other things meant I didn’t touch a model kit for decades. And i felt like I didn’t really want or need to, and that was fine. Even when I met my friends who had done their own gundam kits, i would appreciate the models, but not feel a real need to build one myself. I even told them, and myself, that I was happy just seeing the models, and I was, and maybe not.
Then the pandemic hit, and basically i started to crave for some sort of stress release. I got back into watching Gundam, wached Build Divers, Re:, and eventually, SEED. At the same time, I got even more fascinated by the gunpla kits of these gun dams and other mobile suits, partly from watching review vids on MechaG’s channel and others’. Also at the same time, some of my friends who built gunpla kept sharing their projects and wishlists.
It was like perfect brew, but it didn’t do anything - yet. Then i shared to one of my modeler friends that i was starting to think i’d enjoy using a pair of nippers on a runner, and thinking about building my own kit. That very day, he ordered and sent me my first pair of nippers, an exacto knife, and a cutting board. I thanked him when i received them; i thought he was kidding. But now I had tools and no kit.
It would take another week before I could decide on my first kit, going through reviews all over UA-cam to make my choice. It would be another week before I could receive it by courier. The Freedom 2.0 box was gorgeous, the feel of the plastic like some kind of dream. I started building it slowly that day, using simple techniques learned from my friends and from various UA-camrs. When I finished it a week after, really slow build, i then thought about panel lining…
And yesterday, I put the first decals on it, haha. (Straight build only, though my friend who sent me my first tools has been offering to send me paint, but to buy my own brushes.)
It’s been great. Gives me an hour or so a day when I wanna relax a bit to add a decal, fix some panel lines, clean up a nub i missed, or just pose it. Never once did I regret getting it, or spending so much time slowly working on it. My modeler friends now tell me that I’m now hooked, and I should just accept the fact…
So I got an Earthree, and I can admit, yeah, I am hooked. And happier for it.
In 2017 I just started college and was in a really bad spot in life. My friend pulled me out after class and we went to our usual comic book store which happened to started to sell gunpla. He bought one per usual as I was just tagging along and he threw a kit at me which was a EFF zeta unicorn (I believe). I built it and I’ve never felt better. It reminded me of my childhood when I first did LEGOs and I was really invested in Engineering as well. So honestly Gunpla has made a huge impact on my life and will always thank my friend for looking out for me 🙂
I remember starting because I really always loved the gundam series, and I remember seeing a beautiful master grade Zaku II char custom at my comic shop...it was insane. When I got older and started making some money I convinced my wife to let me buy some gear and some kits. I did an SD wing zero first build. This week I'm doing the RG Impulse. My older sister got me the MG Wing Gundam for my 21st birthday. Up until then i had totally forget about gunpla since i was a child. I remember seeing the kits in our local mall but they were always way too expensive. If i was lucky i might have gotten an SD kit or something. But man, the nostalgia bomb. I about cried holding the box in my hand just imagining how happy i would have been holding it 15 years ago. I'm now about 8 kits in and i don't plan on stopping any time soon.
My Dad got me into Gunpla. He was into plastic model kits in his youth and I built a few with him. Some time in the early aughts he got me the NG 1/144 God Gundam (Sold as the Burning Gundam in the US). About a decade later I started getting interested in Gundam and Gunpla and had hoped to make a few with him before he died of cancer. I picked up a 1/144 HG Gundam Mk. II revive at Barnes and Nobels after he died, and I've stuck with it ever since.
I got into gunpla with the straight imports for those mid 90's wing and X kits. It and the shows on Toonami sparked a love of engineering. I'm a software engineer now and I took a long 15 year gap from gunpla. I found my old kits (broken and still repairing) Burned through almost 200 kits since covid and I am finally getting back in tough with my engineering and creative love of robots. I build the kits during conference calls and it centers me. With resin printing, I plan to release stls for custom armors in the whole GM line that Bandai dropped (Aqua GM, Semi-Striker, III Bulldog, Trainer, Light Armor, Juggler)
My older cusion was very into Gundam as a series and dabbled in the kits now and again, whenever I was at their house he would let me play with them ( carefully ). Unfortunately he passed away in a car accident but, his love for the franchise and models stuck with me and I’ve become a big fan because of him. Any time I’m snapping a model together, it reminds me of him.
Being bored and watching iron blooded orphans during quarantine is what got me into gundam. But the thing that got me into gunpla was watching y-tubers like you and many of the speed build Chanel's. Also I have already built a barbatose which was the high grade barbatose lupus which was a very fun build and I would love to have another barby as my second kit even if it may count as 6 kits in one.

I first got into gunpla about 9 years ago when I was looking for a new hobby since LEGOs got too expensive to buy with my monthly allowance... I picked up the HG star build strike, gundam mk-2(the non revive old 2002 one) and I instantly fell in love and I'm still building gunpla to this day... For me, gunpla is one of the few things that allowed me to stay somewhat happy for slightly less than half of my life

I don't have many thing to do, and the first Wing Gundam series has become the very first light in my gundam related childhood memories. but that's all as the local TV decided to shut down the gundam series... as about 5 years back, when i started my marriage life. I've been a Gundam fan for a long time; a giant-robot fan for even longer. But I only started building models recently.
I had an interest for a long time, but it only really came to fruition during the pandemic. On top of living alone during quarantine, I went through a pretty brutal break up. Before I knew it, my life-long anxiety had ratcheted up to new heights. I needed a new hobby; something I could focus on, something that could help me relax, and something that could help me feel connected to others.

My dad got me into Gundam when i was 3. He always had the original MG Wing Gundam, The Buster Gundam, and GP01 Zephranthes. My first model was the first God Gundam kit, at 5 years old. My passion has only continued to grow since.
I have always known about it but never really got into it, until I saw your videos and how deep this hobby could go. I build them with my mom, we used to build puzzles but this is much cooler.
I picked up the HG Fighting Action Gundam Wing EW kits way back. Ten years later my brother kept collecting and then I realized how much I loved building models, especially Gundam mobile suits!
What got me into Gunpla is that when I was at the Japanese supermarket once my friend dad bought me an SD Kit and then I learn more about gunpla when I was looking at my recommended and then Gio San Pedro RG Nu Gundam Build ASMR video appeared and then I watch it and then I learned about Gunpla Grades and bigger kits and then I landed on this channel which Inspired me to buy more gunpla kits and then it helped to take away my boredness and stress of quarantine because I found the Gunpla kits are really fun to build.
My mom bought me a 1/144 Zoloat from V Gundam for my birthday because it was on sale at a local AEON. I was like 5 and didn't know what model kits were until then. I loved that thing, nub marks and gouged plastic and all. I met some friends in middle school who were gunpla veterans and they introduced me to proper building techniques via HG 00 kits. I was really impressed by the difference between the 1/144 Zoloat and the HG 00 Gundam, which was brand new at the time. I've been hooked since.
Wing Gundam was the first Gundam series I watched as a kid and I really adored it. My uncles bought the old HG Wing Gundam Zero Custom, built it, then gave it to me. I didn't build it myself but that was the first time I ever owned a Gunpla.
Few years later in highschool I got some more HG Seed kits like Sword Impulse and Infinite Justice, then I got my first RG which was the Freedom. Ever since then whenever I had the spare cash I'd get HG & RG kits, and now that I'm a working adult I've been buying Gunpla almost every month.
I even recently did my first painted work, HGCE Sinanju which I painted only with withs metallic markers, and I'm really proud of it. Needless to say, Gunpla will forever be my #1 hobby, and I don't think I'll ever stop building them.
Gunpla was something I picked up recently with the pandemic to thank. It gives me a calming zen like feeling to do something creative with my hands that requires focus, it's really helped me weather the isolation of being stuck working/living in my tiny apartment.
I got into gunpla a little over a year ago. I had built a japanese model once when I was in high school and remember always seeing gunpla but not being able to afford them. Now that I'm an adult I was in a hobby store with my wife and she encouraged me to get one to maybe help with my cptsd and be more of a process than just buying an action figure. It was the first thing that helped me focus past flashbacks and the hyper vigalence and while sometimes it is a crutch lining each part before assembling them helps me focus on the moment and it's been really helpful to me mentally and this hobby means a lot to me. I already have a barby and expac so if I win find someone who can't afford the hobby or wants to try it and give it to them. Barbatos mg was my first gunpla, if I win I would like to help it be someone else's, maybe it will help them like it did me.
I got into gunpla because it helped me with my depression. I had been using an x-acto knife to do some not so great things to my body. I dragged myself out of bed one morning because I promised my little cousin a present for his birthday. I went inside a nearby hobby store and saw the MG Shining Gundam on a shelf. I had the old msia figure in the early 2000's but ended up losing it during a move. I didn't know what gunpla was at the time, but a wave of nostalgia hit me. It was after doing research on G gundam that led me down the gunpla path. 200+ kits and 6 years later I can say I'm proud of myself and what I do.
A friend of mine gave me a kit after they cleaned out their closet. HG Zerachiel. And already being a mecha fan I was hooked. And for me it’s been some of the most fun I’ve ever had. It’s made me feel like a kid again and is helping me start a new chapter in my life that I don’t think I would be in without it.
My cousin got me into model kits, it was when I visit Vietnam for Lunar New Year. My first model kit was the LBX series. When I got back to America and found out that there are other kits. Gunpla seems to got my attention, first gunpla was 00 raiser and I’ve been building since.
My Uncle got me into gunpla originally, he had bought some kits but never built them,and ended up giving them to my brother and I. My brother got the HG GP01FB, while mine was the HGUC Char's Z'Gok. I didn't build much for a while, until I went to college and could buy my own kits freely. My first kit that started my entire gunpla addiction was the Schwarzritter, followed by the HG Barbatos Lupus the next day which remains one of my favorite kits. To me, gunpla and gundam is like a step up from lego, with the building, although it feels much more involved than anything else. Not only do you get to build and feel how the moving parts work, but you also get a fully poseable figure after you're done building! I couldn't even imagine life without building gunpla now
Ever since I was a kid, I was really into mechas but unfortunately, I don't have the money and tools way back then. I got into gunpla because of the sale I saw online. I was stuck between HG Grand daddy and HG Barbie. I ended up choosing barbatos as my 1st ever gunpla. For me, it's more than a stress reliever, it's more like satisfying the inner kid in me (tho I'm still pretty young) who likes building/crafting things then ending up with a cool looking mecha.
My older brother was the one who got me into the hobby when I saw how they were built, I was enthralled and have been an avid builder ever since
