I feel like this arc could have done better. Like the show made them have so much good chemistry from the beginning to even half way through the show, only for April to throw away their relationship away after Sterling worked hard. I will say April did it for the right reasons, but did in a completely wrong way.

I don't think the problem is her coming to terms with it, he problem is that she (understandably) fears that this all Christian school won't accept her for who she is. And I don't blame her, Christians have not exactly been known for being pro gay.
i think april herself accepts her sexuality, she told sterling that she was confident with being LGBT and christian, but she is (realistically) worried about what would happen if they were out at school. i mean.. you saw what luke and sterling went through, and that was just for having sex
