Suuuure. Isolation is a great game, but take away the Aliens invincibility and it's just a "generic shoota".
@@TurKlack A spectacularly unqualified statement that falls apart when you think about it for more than 2 seconds. Go do a no weapons run of AI and tell me how it plays exactly the same, when you can't fight humans or working joes with projectiles and you can't escape the alien by using the flamethrower or molotovs. Utterly asinine comment.
It's not even a shooter at all. Remove the alien immortality and you'd still fear it because of the way it moves, sounds, sneaks, flanks, and if it gets to you you're dead. Plus it establishes multiple aliens later so they could easily have gone that route anyway, and just made them hard to kill. Same result.
It's clear it's not a shooter because most of your time is spent sneaking around, gathering supplies and achieving survival-related goals. It's a stealth survival game if anything. As for it being generic... based on what? Like the game or not, nothing about it is particularly generic, even its critics don't think so.

Is it just me, or the aliens are clumsy and slow cannon fodders? For me the alien from isolation was much more convincing
Alien Isolation is where they should've started upon developing this game...😞😞😞 I want another great Alien game like Alien Iso
Well people like to explain that the original alien, including the ones from alien isolation, are different from the ones from aliens. So it’s more like 1 big monster vs a horde of smaller monsters.
Drones aren't actually indestructible tanks. It's always been the case where marines will make cannon fodder out of them.
They need to include face huggers that creep in the shadows and infect one of your teammates giving u the tough decision to either kill them right there or continue to progress not knowing when the chest buster will come out. That would be scary as hell
"Face overwhelming odds against over 20 enemy types, including 11 different Xenomorphs along the evolutionary scale from Facehuggers to Praetorians, each designed with their own intelligence to ambush, outsmart and eviscerate vulnerable marines. Utilize cover and master team strategy to survive extraterrestrial threats as they overrun your fireteam from every angle, swarm through doors and vents, scramble across walls and ceilings, and strike from darkness with uncanny ferocity."
Facehugger is probably gonna be like L4D's hunter. Pounces your ally and you have seconds to help them otherwise they become a lost cause. Maybe. Unless they give them a timer then that's gonna be wild
Its kinda a 1hit kill though but id be cool if it stops people from shooting and makes the allies remove it in time before your teammate gets infected and dies
The aliens should be more aggressive and smarter.
I'm so tired of Alien games that turn these awesome monsters into brainless cannon fodder.
@@Orain88 It's an Aliens game. In Aliens, the xenomorphs absolutely threw themselves at the Marines. Remember how they rushed the turrets or raided their holdout? The xenomorphs are a lot more bold when they have numbers on their side.

2:08
That silence kind of gives a ''we won't confirm or unconfirm that this game will perform at 60+'' lol
The atmosphere is not at all that scary and creepy like an Alien game should have. Now it's just a 3rd person "hahaha lets kill some bugs lol" game.
Going 3rd person was the first mistake, it removes you from that feeling completely.
Nah, not at all. The fact that it's third person is an immediate selling point.
In the film 'Aliens' most of the battle scenes are with the humans in retreat, running away from the danger - this seems to be the opposite, with the humans in control and the Xenomorphs just empty easy cannon fodder.
Guns can help - but you run from Xenomorphs and escape
Yeah, and in the original Aliens movie you were scared to even kill the single alien, cos it's acid blood would eat right through the hull of the ship. Here there is acid blood everywhere.
@@ithurtsman6099 You're still going into the aliens not escaping them
In the movie several soldiers die from killing a single xeno, singed from the acid spray. This gameplay really downplays the threat killing them at close range poses and is rather inaccurate to the movies. They also appear to keep rushing them head-on even though that strategy fails constantly. Less numerous but smarter Xenos would be better imho. Gotta make use of the motion tracker to find their hidding places and avoid them.
In the original aliens the marines had never encountered xenomorphs so I'm guessing they are more prepared now? That's just one way to think about it.
The sound is so satisfying like the sounds of aliens screaming
Too bad you can't blow their limbs of like in the films. Wonder if they're going for a soft age rating to sell more.
Acid blood really should play a bigger role in this kind of game, right now you can blow up an alien right next to you with zero splash damage.
It should melt through a floor making an new exit or entry point for the aliens, leak right down into a fuel silo.

Honestly Matt (the Chief Creative Officer from ColdIron) seemed worse than the IGN player, he's the one who held his shotgun out checking corners with a giant flashing "NO AMMO" on screen
In this playthrough, the IGN guy seemed okay. The actual devs seemed bored out of their mind in comparison
A permanent motion tracker on the screen shouldn't be a thing. You should have to decide about having your motion tracker out or your weapons. A big part of aliens is not knowing where and when the aliens are going to come from. A perma motion tracker kinda gives away the tension. What do you guys think? And also perhaps have an option to get rid of those big red "X"s and include more maps with less lighting.
Or possibly having a special class that responds for the motion, detecting aliens. Would be great
The chances of you always watching the small tracker in the corner is unlikely when theres 20 coming at you right in front...
@@ReaperWolf68 The point isn't that you'll be looking at it when there's 20 barreling at you. It's that you should be pulling it out to check and see if any are coming. That being said, it should be relegated to a class function/utility that one person handles, to promote a bit more strategy or tension. Two people on point, one person keeping an eye on possible threats. For example: In the movies, Hudson travels around with his out and his gun held away, while Vasquez or whoever else stays alert with their gun ready. It shouldn't be an ever-present thing on the screen, as it kills tension if you inherently know where everything is at a glance.
Not trying to complain, just stating why having a constant motion tracker vs. one that requires a cost in the form of lowering your weapon adds a layer of strategy and danger to the situation.
This looks painfully generic.
An animation for something dieing is enough. Don't need that big red X
Agreed. It's extremely obnoxious. If anything it can pip red on the motion tracker as it dies to be less irritating.

First thing's first. That X that appears when you kill an Alien, needs to go. At least let us disable it in the settings. Awful.
The third person viewpoint takes away a lot of tension that's needed.
You can definitely make a tense game using third person, take the new resident evil games for instance, but it just needs to be done properly; walking speed being default, tighter and darker spaces are just a couple of things that come to mind
All of the exploding xeno bodies close to the characters, they should be dead 100% over. Even dumber is that they just walk over large splashes of acid blood, which would melt their boots.
They literally say that on higher difficulties its hard to kill up close as the blood does so much damage. Did you even watch the damn thing ?
Would be cool to show damage on the humans when getting hurt/burnt/scratched etc and when healed you look fresh.
They should also show dismemberment when aliens are shot like the classic AvP for pc..
There is no fear in this. 3rd person also doesn't seem to give enough of a claustrophobic feeling. Aliens just charge in like zombies and die in hordes. Not for me.
@@ben2741 That last for what? like 30 secs?. what point are you trying to make?
@peng917 That scene last a few minutes at minimum. Benjamin's point is that in Aliens the Xenomorphs do indeed charge in like zombies and die in hordes. Xenomorphs only try a different approach after that plan fails. Even then they're 2nd plan is more of the same except they sneak in through the ceiling and then charge in like zombies and die in hordes.
