I think the radical differences between the "D" and "E" really illustrates the differences of the eras in which they were designed and built: The late 2350's / early 2360's probably represented a "golden age" of peace for the Federation. There was a peace treaty with the Klingons. The Romulans were staying behind their borders, keeping to themselves (apart from the occasional stir up, like Narendra III or the Khitomer Massacre). There was probably not too much fighting going on with the Cardassians. No one had heard of the Dominion, and the Borg were unknown to almost anyone, except a select few. Thus, we get a starship with a greater emphasis on deep space exploration and science, less on defense, and even equipped to carry *families*! Though far from helpless, as we've seen, the Galaxy class was a product of a more complacent era. Flash forward 10-15 years, and the UFP has had conflicts with pretty much all these powers. We get something leaner, a bit more aggressive looking, more maneuverable, and probably more heavily armed, since her designers suspected (correctly, it seems) that she would be doing a bit more fighting, or at least serving as a deterrent, than had been expected of her predecessor. Thus, we have the Sovereign.
I like to think that the reason the naecells look so different is beacause when they found out that the warp drive destroys subspace they hade to redesign them
I own the diamond select version, which is pretty big, so it's quite weird seeing a vessel which has always been presented as being so big and daunting presented in such a small scale. Love it though!!
So Happy that Eaglemoss is putting put the Battlestar VALKRIYE already have mine pre ordered through Entertainment Earth! Can't wait for it Been waiting since 2007 for SOMEONE to produce one THANKYOU EAGLEMOSS!!!! Eaglemoss has made all collecting dreams come true!! I have faith that Eaglemoss will make the Osirus for me hopefully all the Civilian ships as well
Another fun review Irishtrekkie ! I got mine yesterday, a little later than usual, but it's here now safe & sound and proudly in the collection. I like this one plenty of detail, and an interesting paint job. The nacelles on mine are a little off, one is definitely lower than the other. Might have to buy a better one when it hits the shelves on Friday. Pretty happy, my one little gripe is it looks a bit small in among the other federation ships the Enterprise D, NX-01, Stargazer and Defiant absolutely dwarf it. Shifting my ships around now to give the smaller ships some prominence !
This is the First Contact version of the Enterprise - E as the impulse engines had an upgrade modification done to them for Insurrection giving them a boxier, beefier appearance. 😉

I've noticed the bold bottom windows in almost all the reviews but the one I've got recently doesn't have this issue so they might have fixed it in later batches.
My Enterprise E had a slight problem. The Nacelle pylons, which are a single piece going through the hull, aren't fixed properly. They wobble about. It's like they have no glue inside the hull to hold them still. My replacement should be here soon. I think this model is my new fave. I love every single one, but this one is fantastic.
True, there were a lot of great intense scenes but to me some things did not make sense 1, The defiant, specifically designed to tackle the Borg threat abandoned and nearly destroyed. Makes no sense 2, Picard has been through a lot, assimilated, living and entire life through an alien probe, being stabbed through the heart and much more. Why the sudden change to vengeance against the Borg this time. The entire holodeck gun battle scene was a a bit overkill. Not the Picard that we all know. 3, The Borg should have been left as a collective and soulless, not ruled by a Queen. Much scarier that way :) 4, The saucer dish scene though a good idea I think was a bit naff and predictable Great points Enterprise debut Borg battle The Phoenix Reg Barkley :) Again only my opinions :)
I think it was a hastily put together Earth defense fleet, as there was only one Defiant class ship in the battle as far as we know. Also it lasted much longer than the rest of the fleet. I think the Defiant class was starfleet just cramming as much weaponry into the smallest, most heavily armoured ship they could, they never had much sense of how it would actually perform against the borg until it actually fought. Perhaps if there had been a nice flotilla of Defiant class ships the battle would have been over sooner. With Picard (and I want to note at this point I'm only trying to engage in friendly trek debate and not simply argue) I think he showed at the end of "The best of both worlds" when he acted like everything was fine at the end, that he was very troubled when everyone left him alone in the ready room. I think Picard felt a deep rage at how the Borg violated him and used him to kill others. As for the queen, I think they tried to make a case that the queen was not an individual when Picard said that the cube she was on (in the best of both worlds) was destroyed along with every borg on it and she replied that he thought in such small terms. Your thoughts?
xD What makes this possibly my favorite version is one kind of thing that i heard when a maquis fighter described the D. The Ent D being the fortress. I think to me This Enterprise is a much more powerful fortress of a starship xD a flying fortress.

Nice Review. I've been waiting for you to review this one. :) One of the main issues I have with it is I can't understand why they didn't put the more black paint apps on the upper back end of the saucer section. They have black paint on the nacelles and pylons... yet the part that is supposed to be black on the upper saucer they left a greyish color. It doesn't make sense. I find the black really makes it striking and stand out more. I don't have mine yet I have it on preorder so I'll have to see how it is in real life in my hands instead of pictures or videos but it will probably be a nitpick that will always make me feel it could have been better with that proper paint app. Hoping maybe when I have it in hand it wont be as bad. Other then that though and the fact that it looks a bit cluttered with all those windows painted in (specially on the lower saucer like you mentioned) I think it looks really good. Nice review as always. You seem to have really gotten your "flow" down I think. :)
The Ship is modelled of the FC version, I have seen the Hero Studio Model and it's still retains the look from FC and also Insurrection as a CGI and the Studio Miniature where used in that but not FC! :)

That is the First Contact version of the Enterprise-E. The differences between the FC/Insurrection version and the Nemesis version are the neck and pylons. The Nemesis versions had raised nacelles with additional phaser arrays on the pylons. The neck on the Nemesis version was made more streamlined as well. I put off getting this model from Eaglemoss because it is just too small next to the others. Well, that problem was solved with the release of the mega - sized version that is 10 inches long and looks great next to the other ships. The detail is about the same, only bigger. Gorgeous ship design either way. The magazine for the large version focuses on the Borg and is very interesting, so I ordered the magazine that came with the smaller version that focuses on the ship itself.
I'm negative about the progressive Enterprise redesigns that have developed after the first movie, which showcased the first redesign. I liked it very much, thinking great, that was good and just leave it there. Well, they didn't leave it there and we have all these radical and bad looking Enterprises. I see a degenerative progression in each redesign with each being worse than the one before; and worse yet, we are not recognizing this degeneration and even thinking we have done something better and transcending, when in fact we have not. So why am I right about these Enterprise redesigns and everyone else is wrong? Let the facts now be submitted to a candid Star Trek world. The original Enterprise design and then the next maintained a very important feature the Enterprise was suppose to possess and maintain - that of a stately naval vessel - tall, proud, powerful and beautiful. As the designs progressed these features started to be lost, with either flatter, more swept-back profiles, or with bulky, unbalanced profiles and still others with much more radical lines and even some jagged, unbalanced and nonsensical features. Every good artist and designer knows that they must know when to stop as they progress through a creative work; when you can go no further or else you begin to destroy the essence of what you are doing. When it comes to a military vessel, which the Enterprise is; simplicity, economy, power, functionality and beauty should be the foundation of its design. Yes, the first Enterprise we saw was too simple and undeveloped (but still pretty good). The second almost perfected its design but after that, the designs moved way beyond into the world of extravagance and lost the power and presence of a naval vessel. I think we should all return to the drawing board and this time not go so far beyond the original Enterprise that we no longer recognize her for what she is suppose to be. Well, that's my rant on the subject. Design Right and Prosper.

I'm surprised you didn't like First Contact. Its always been one of my favourites.
It was ok but I felt it lost momentum a lot of times throughout. Great action sequences but it could have been better. :)
What did you think of Picard's dealing with his Borg past? I thought his rage made for some great scenes.
The " This far, NO FARTHER!" speech was one of Picard's best.

My enterprise E came with original box and magazine, looks legit but came without lettering (no uss enterprise,,no ncc)
