This cleanser can be used for oily, acne-prone skin. Experiencing pimples in the beginning can be an initial reaction to the product, which should calm down within a few weeks of use. However, if after that it doesn't get better, I recommend stopping using it. I've never tried a cleanser from Dr. Jart, so I'm not sure about their performance.

None of these cleansers will be effective for fungal acne. If you truly have fungal acne, it is crucial that you consult with a doctor to obtain prescribed oral medication. Without professional treatment, controlling this condition could prove challenging.

I recommend improving your sleeping habits, reducing stress, and enhancing your diet instead. It's possible that something you're consuming is causing the white and blackheads in the first place. By eliminating or replacing certain foods, you may be able to prevent them from recurring and address the root cause. See here: www.youtube.com/@MelissaVanDijkOfficial/community

Hi Melissa, I am now using this cleanser, is my routine correct:
    Beauty of Johnson's oil cleanser
    Salicylic acid cleanser from Cosrx
Followed by Niacinamide serum from Beauty of Johnson
    And then any moisturizing gel.
Also, can it be used in the morning and evening? Because some people say that it has a high pH and can harm the skin if used twice a day.
Could it also cause a slight burning sensation when used for the first time?
    Thank you💗

Hey! :) Your setup looks good. However, you don't need to double cleanse both in the AM and PM. Even with the products you're using, there's no need to double cleanse at all. How often you can use the COSRX SA cleanser depends on your skin tolerance, so it's really individual and something you need to adjust over time.

      Hello again Melissa
I started using salicylic acid cleanser two weeks ago. In the first two weeks, I did not get new pimples, and it reduced the appearance of blackheads. But after two weeks, new pimples started to appear, and they are kind of painful. I am confused now. Should I stop using it? Or are they pimples under the skin that will disappear after a while? Or is it a sign that my skin is sensitive to it, because I use it twice a day. Please help me🥲

Hey there Melissa. Thanks for your video and hope you are having a great day. I had some questions. Could you kindly provide me with the correct information 😊
I have a mildly oily skin specially around the nasal region. I didnt really have an acne prone skin but since I moved to a new city and some other additional factors like study pressure and stress and change in the water and food habit here, gradually, specifically recently I have been having some acne around the nose and on the chin area repeatedly. I wanted to use cosrx salicylic acid cleanser to reduce this from happening. Should I go for this?
Also, how many times a day may I use this cleanser? Should it be used only at night? If so, which product would be best to use in the morning for say, before going to the class or after coming back home from the class since my face remains oily after I come back home from outside.
Could you also recommend a budget friendly and oil free moisturizer and sunscreen for me for daily use?
I would be very grateful to you if you take your time to answer my questions and provide me with as much accurate information as possible since I noticed you replying to the commentors here which made me want to reach out to you too because it does feel a bit puzzling with so many skin care routines and products out there. Thank you so much in advance! ❤

      Hey! 😊
Yes, I have, and I hope you're having a great day or night as well.
Yeah, such changes can really mess up the skin! Usually, it should calm down once you have adjusted to the environment. However, if it hasn't changed within, say, 3 months, I recommend looking into your stress, diet, and water quality, as these can potentially trigger breakouts. You may not tolerate something well, especially when it comes to food and water!
You can use a Salicylic Acid cleanser (CeraVe, The Inkey List, Minimalist, Cetaphil...) or a 4%-5% Benzoyl Peroxide Cleanser (Panoxyl or Differin). Use one of them while alternating with a non-treatment cleanser like a regular gel-to-foam or foaming cleanser (CeraVe, The Ordinary, or Beauty of Joseon).
As for a moisturizer, take a look at Beauty of Joseon Red Bean Water Gel or The Ordinary NMF + Beta Glucan. For sunscreen, I really like Good Molecules Sheer Mineral SPF 30.
I have videos/shorts on all these products.

Well, these are treatments, not cures, so they are the first step to improving the condition. Often, factors such as genetics, diet, stress, hormonal imbalances, and environment all contribute to it.

However, I suggest using another cleanser suitable for your skin type when using a retinoid or exfoliating acids afterwards, as it can be too drying when overusing it. Should I trigger my pores to open before using the cleanser?

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  Рік тому

No, you don't need to open your pores before applying a cleanser. In fact, it's not possible to "open" or "close" your pores permanently. Pores are simply tiny openings on the surface of your skin that allow oil and sweat to escape.
You can apply a cleanser to your skin directly without needing to open your pores first.
However, if you want to improve the effectiveness of your cleanser, you can use warm water to help loosen any dirt or debris that may be trapped in your pores. Simply wet your face with warm water before applying the cleanser, then gently massage it into your skin in a circular motion before rinsing it off with warm water. This can help to ensure that your cleanser is able to penetrate deep into your pores to remove any impurities.

The combination that you are doing can work well depending on your skin. However, if dryness occurs I recommend looking into something more moisturizing.

PM- Ohk instant glow mask 2 times a week (Wednesday&Sunday)
PM- The inky list retinol 3 times a week (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday) usually after the serum(s) and the vitamin e capsules but now currently applying it after cleansing my face and then the serum(s) after the retinol but no vitamin e capsule
I have bumps on my forehead so that's why I'm doing the first 2 AM steps everyday bcz apparently these bumps are from oil so I felt like the double cleansing the toner treatment is a must and also the oil control cetaphil foam wash.
Would you maybe suggest not continuing the things I'm currently stopping or maybe continue stopping it? or maybe suggest a replacement for something or anything like that?

@@malakelhamidi8487 How much sun exposure do you have?
I recommend doing it like this:
      AM:
      - Cleanser (just use one)
      - Sheet Mask (twice per week)
      - Toner
      - Hyaluronic Acid Serum
      - Eye Cream
      - (Optional) Moisturizer

      - Hyaluronic Acid Serum
      - (Vitamin E + Guasha) - When not using Retinol
      - Retinol (3x per week)
      - Eye Cream
      - (Optional) Moisturizer
Based on your routine, your skin should feel very hydrating. You probably do not need to use a moisturizer afterwards. CeraVe's Hyaluronic Acid Serum is already like a light moisturizer.
If you do not have much sun exposure, you do not need to reapply the sunscreen every 2h. If you apply it evenly in the morning, this should last you until the evening.

It might be too much for your skin to tolerate. Do you have another cleanser? If so, alternate its use with this one and reduce the frequency of both the toner and serum. However, before doing so, give your skin a break for a few days. Then, slowly reintroduce them back into your routine. Essentially, you need to find a frequency that works well for you.

    Hi there Melissa,
    Thank you for the video.
I have a question please I'm hoping for your response.
I bought PC vitamin c boost, but it is bright yellow upon arrival.i swear I'm getting frustrated with all the vitamin C's rules.
Is vitamin c "a must have" skin care product ?
I live in Tanzania 🇹🇿(East Africa).we normally purchase stuffs via Logistics(due to shipping restrictions and huge tax charges)..were it takes 1-2weeks to receive a product.sometimes up to 3-4weeks!
Please can you suggest what to use in place of vitamin c and get same benefits as the vitamin c?
As I think these companies are grabbing my cash and peace of mind too.
I also bought the revolution vitamin c,it's yellow!

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  2 роки тому +1

      Hello Samir,
If it is really bright yellow, it is likely a product already opened, and I wouldn't use it anymore. If the product is unopened, it should be clear without colour.
It's really disgusting that retailers are sending all the old stuff to Africa and/or Asia; I am wondering who is doing this! 😒
Can you get a refund 🤔?
To get back to your other questions, no Vitamin C is not a must-have. It depends on your skin needs, most "must-have" videos are just there to sell you some stuff...(or all of them), but no skincare product is a must-have!😒
I can't remember your skincare routine so can you please list it again?🤔
And since you live in Tanzania and have these issues, my advice would be to use a Vitamin C derivative. So that you aren't coming across these issues anymore since they are stable and shouldn't oxidize as quickly. (if at all) Or best would be to have a "local" brand that also does this or order The Ordinary Vitamin C Powder and mix it yourself with Hyaluronic Acid. Edit: But chances are high that you also get an old Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid powder) so actually not sure about that 🤔

    • @samirsaleh2140

Getting a refund will be impossible.
      ..
I have combination skin.dry on the cheeks, oily T zone and chin..more like an ! ..
      I'm in my early 30's..
      I use T.O retinol 0.2% in squalane 3nights
Vitamin c and face theory moisturizer the one with SPF 30 in it every AM.
I exfoliate 2nights with lactic acid and once with salicylic acid at night also.
      I have blackheads on cheeks.
My skin is actually in a pretty good condition.no pimples. Just acne scars.
Will T.O azelaic acid be a better option?
      Since it is sealed
I also wish to have a glowy youthful skin lol. Not oily
      ..
And I actually purchase online, and the packages get delivered in a logistics company(house/place)..where they deliver to Tanzania.
      Some companies ship here directly.
And Locally ,there are entrepreneurs dealing with skin care but normally they use natural products.and personally am not convinced with their products.

@@samirsaleh2140 Yeah, since you got it through the logistics company. But I often have difficulties getting certain products. I did that in the past for US products since you could not get them all here in Europe, and very often the company noticed it so that I was unable to get them, so I always ordered through a friend, that way, it always worked, and the products were in good conditions.
Anyway, yes, I went through your last comments to figure it out.
The best product to target Blackheads is Salicylic Acid and Retinol. What you can do is try to increase the frequency of your Salicylic Acid. But if the blackheads are very stubborn, it may not work, so you need to extract them with a tool or visit someone that can do it. And after that, you can maintain it with the products. However, it is challenging if you are prone to get them!
Azelaic Acid won't help you much with that. Paula's Choice Azelaic Acid may help a bit because it also includes 0,5% of Salicylic Acid. Again, the one would be the better choice; however, it is also much more expensive, but overall the better formulation.
You can only regulate your oiliness, but you will not get rid of it until you get older; it will slow down naturally, mainly genetics.
The best option for a nice glow would be Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate but it is still out of stock 😞 Not sure if they will ever list it again, but that one was the best Vitamin C they offered.

If your skin tolerates it, yes. However, it's important to find the underlying cause of your acne! This may be because you're using the wrong skincare products, where it may be best to use no skincare products at all. However, it could also come from stress, lack of sleep, environment/lifestyle factors like your diet, etc. Only if you figure out what causes your acne in the first place can you cure it.

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  2 роки тому

      Hey Ahmed,
Yes, pores are a normal "thing" to have; your skin needs them to function properly. However, they can clog because dirt, dead skin cells etc., get into them, and as a result, they can become enlarged or make them more noticeable. And you can reduce it with a cleanser, ideal a salicylic acid cleanser. I suggest The Inkey List Salicylic Acid cleanser or the CeraVe Acne control cleanser. Both include 2% of Salicylic Acid, which works extremely well to "clean" them.
If you want to do a double cleanse to remove makeup or sunscreen from your skin, you can use klairs cleansing oil as a first step. And follow with the SA cleansers I have mentioned above, but if you do not wear sunscreen or makeup that is stubborn to remove, you can use the cleanser mentioned above, as that should be enough!
How to use The Inkey Salicylic Acid Cleanser:

It depends on what your skin responds to best. In my opinion, The Inkey List Salicylic Acid is better, or you can try Panoxyl 4% Benzoyl Peroxide Cleanser (only where you experience acne).
However, I also recommend investigating the root causes of your acne, such as lack of sleep, stress or mental health issues, environmental factors (air & water quality, washing detergent, etc), or your diet (such as consuming too much added sugar, processed food, fast food, or any food intolerance; like soy, milk, bread (gluten), eggs, chicken, etc).

@@user-xd7pr8ny7g Ok, but how's your diet? Do you consume foods with too much added sugar, like sodas, juices, cookies, chips, candies, processed food, and fast food? Do you have any food intolerances, such as soy, milk, bread (gluten), eggs, chicken, etc.? If the 4% cleanser doesn't do much for you, you can try the 10% one or a salicylic acid cleanser instead. However, you still need to figure out what's causing your acne in the first place. If you continue consuming something that triggers your acne, you won't be able to get rid of it completely.
