I wish commentators did a better job explaining the error that occurred during the long pause in the game. There wasn't a debate on the error that someone was in the net, both teams went into the net. The error was that Swindle, the setter, attacked a ball that was open hand set by Halter, the libero, who was in front of the 3 meter line. That is not allowed. Someone should've informed the commentators that that error happened before the nets, thus negating those nets. So there wouldn't be people mad online about a miss net call during the challenge, because there was a net, but the net occurred after the backrow attack error.
@ToonSciron it did indeed seem to me that the announcers did not know why the first referee called an illegal attack. However, I must say that you also got it wrong in your explanation. You said (and I quote), "The error was that Swindle, the setter, attacked a ball that was open hand set by Halter, the libero, who was in front of the 3 meter line. That is not allowed." You almost got it right. Any player on the court may legally attack a ball that was set by overhand finger action by the libero in the front zone, as long as at the moment of contact by the attacker, the BALL is NOT completely above the height of the net. In this case, the ball was indeed completely above the height of the net when it was attacked from an overhand finger pass from the libero in front of the 3 meter line, and completely crossed the horizontal plane of the net through the crossing space, thereby completing the illegal attack. As soon as the ball had completely crossed the net, that is when the Tennessee player contacted the net. But, it's the violation that occurred first that stands. Illegal attack occurred first and therefore technically no net fault occurred.
I know same. For me, i thought the call stayed because the setter was a backrow setter and the way she position herself was like she going to put the ball to ther orher court which she is not allowed at all. for me, it ddnt matter the net violations cause the setter is not allowed to joust the ball to begin with.
I watched this game in person and it was so intense! Crazy to think that if Tennessee had one the 4th set there would be a different national champion! Great job by Texas, they really pulled it together. Madi and Asjia are unstoppable! Hookem 🤘
I don’t know about USA but FIVB says no player either front or back is allowed to attack the ball (ball fully above the net) if the libero sets in the front
I use the word “attack” to say she contacted the ball above the height of the net. She was front row but the infraction is the libero using a hand set in the front row. That becomes an offensive action from a player that is supposed to be defensive only.
I was too superstitious for this game. I missed the first set then watched Texas struggle in sets 2&3. I stopped watching halfway through set 4 and then watched tv for an hour before checking to see the result 😂
Tennessee fought a good fight! They went balls to the wall! They too have All Americans who are of stature so this wasn’t going to be an easy game! We are rebuilding we lost 3 major key players our first second & third contacts which is a big blow! But we are figuring things out with a freshman injured setter! O’Neal who was injured also! Nobody expected us to make it to the final four but here we are!
@@jaredpatterson6576 Did you watch the match last night? There were probably more ASU fans than Stanford fans and that dinky little gym wasn’t even half full. Embarrassing.
Obviously, opposing teams are not going to fill an away gym on a Thursday. I’m talking when Stanford is playing. Heads should roll and the Stanford AD should be fired. Anywhere else in the country, the #1 seeds have huge followings and packed to the gills attendance when the home team is playing. Get ready for Texas to have more fans in the stands in a half full gym than Stanford in a Texas blowout! I’m not a Texas fan but I’m totally rooting for them in this match up.
@@livingaia4844 I’ve watched and rewatched this set, she was acting weird and to blame it on an injury is also extremely weird you don’t stare people down like a vulture because you’re injured 😂 WHERE are you people from.. and to be making hand gestures when r1 is making a call is a bit much like ma’am calm down.
Funny how women's volleyball and all other women's college sports and all men's college sports that isn't FBS football or men's basketball, has the top seeded teams with little to no upsets. Men's March Madness last year had no 1st, 2nd or 3rd seeded teams in the final 4 with only one 4th seed in the final 4. The biggest differences between Men's March Madness vs men's and women's college tournament sports for other sports not FBS football is gambling. March Madness is heavily gambled with over $15 billion in gambling for last years tournament. These other Men's and Women's college sports have little to no gambling and therefore no Vegas and the mafia to rig their games. Men's March Madness is obviously rigged due to heavy gambling very similar to pro leagues like MLB, the NBA and the NFL.
Madi Skinner is a special player! She is in contention for NPOY!

Maddie cant be stopped! She’s literally the best in my eyes.
23:50 Front row players are not allowed to attack the ball if the previous touch was from the Libero using a hand set in front of the 10ft line.
Thanks for explaining because I was confused.
they are if they stay below the plane of the net.
She was front row anyways.

Yeah, I felt that way too, but then I realized that my feelings had absolutely NO BEARING or WEIGHT on the players' work on the floor.
My God this match just showed the never give up attitude and fight the Texas team has
Best game of the whole tournament.
I got myself so worked up I thought my pacemaker would would start sing SOS’s to my contact 😁
Correction: would start sending SOS’s to my emergency contacts
Skinner was the POTT - Player of the Tournament after all the dust settled😏
wow, Tennessee!!!!! they’re so good im so proud of them this season
I’m the biggest Texas fan ever but if Tennessee has their actual libero, they make it to the Elite 8
In real time , I was shook 😂
23:25 where caroline is breathing heavy while glaring everyone with the music in the back goes so hard
I need to go back and watch this game now 😂

So happy Texas won! 🤘🏽🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏽❤️❤️❤️
What a big difference for Texas this year from last year they def don’t look as clean and put together.
They graduated 3 main stars! I'm surprised they came back from that! TEXAS is AMAZING!

They lost both Player of the Year and a candidate Libero of the Year to graduation so they are not the same team.
Tennessee coach very bold to challenge and tell referee ‘there was a touch I saw it’….ahhh NO touch was the call!
Omg Tennessee almost crushed them good that Texas took it otherwise it’s totally their mistake
Boy the reffing in this match was sus. The play was fantastic. Hook Em 🤘🤘🤘
I swear I thought the refs tried to purposely let Tennessee win they gave them at least 3 points due to bs calls
Hey, Tres, Good to see you
Pls fix your quality for the future😅
Ridiculous that the announcers don't understand the rules, and that a handset from the libero in the front zone cannot be attacked above the net
They should of started this video at 23-20
i just said this lolll
i thought tennessee’s libero got injured?
She did. They switch libero after the second set I believe
She did. Tenn had to adjust big time!
“Just a one arm cheerleader” 😮😢😂
Todavía no pierdo la esperanza de que llegue el equipo que deje fuera a Texas.
😅 salado!
Stanford has no fan base. Probably the worst attendance of all sites in the tournament.
They filled the stands for Stanford’s match - it’s never full anywhere when 2 visiting schools play
