    Do you use a specialized/proprietary solution in your ultrasonic, or is there an off the shelf solution or mixture that's safe for the plastic parts and the electrical coils in the injectors?

    I clean outboard injectors all the time. But instead of using the degreaser i use Power tune it from Mercury. Its a decarbonizer in the ultra sonic cleaner with a little heat. I have only had 1 injector not come back.

    • @MorFabIndustries
      @MorFabIndustries  6 років тому

      speeddr2000 I’ll have to try that stuff out. It’s rare that I get a totally failed injector that isn’t physically damaged. The one in this vid was struck on the nozzle by a broken intake valve.

    The problem could have just been a clogged filter screen. Why didn't you change the screen? Servicing usually involves changing the screen, o rings, spacers, and pintle cover. Great video by the way!

    • @MorFabIndustries
      @MorFabIndustries  5 років тому

      To keep costs down (which in this area is paramount), we do different levels of service. Occasionally we will replace everything but most of the time its just o-rings and if they appear clogged, a backflush to clear the screens. If they continue to fail we recommend sending them back to the manufacturer for service or rebuild.

    @dragradialperformance3540 5 років тому

    Nice video! I'm curious why you said that further cleaning risked damaging the injector. What's the thinking behind that comment? I haven't found a downside to extra cleaning time.

    • @MorFabIndustries
      @MorFabIndustries  5 років тому

      Excess time in the ultrasonic can cause pitting on metal. Especially if there are any brass parts in the injector. I have found excessive time in the ultrasonic caused leaking seats on some cheaper injectors.

    • @dragradialperformance3540
      @dragradialperformance3540 5 років тому

      @@MorFabIndustries Interesting. I have a hard time picturing a typical degreaser or injector cleaner being able to pit brass. I would think you could soak a brass part in cleaner for weeks and not see any significant pitting. Now on a chinese injector, I wouldn't trust it any further than I can throw it.

    • @MorFabIndustries
      @MorFabIndustries  5 років тому +1

      You are correct. You could soak them forever. However in an ultrasonic bath the sound waves create small bubbles on the surface of what you're cleaning. Those small bubbles implode causing a pretty powerful shockwave. Enough to pit metal. Check UA-cam for cavitation or how an ultrasonic works. Pretty neat stuff actually!

    • @dragradialperformance3540
      @dragradialperformance3540 5 років тому

      @@MorFabIndustries I'll do that, thanks. I knew about the bubbles as I have one, but I didn't know they could pit metal! Wow.
      Unrelated, I have this massive ultrasonic tank I'm working on. Came out of the hospital, where it was used clean surgical instruments. Easily big enough to put two cylinder heads in, with a ridiculous amount of industrial strength transducers. Can't wait to get that thing running.
