The pity system is not the main problem though. It's the fact that the real world cost of getting the thing that you want is obscured by different systems mainly the conversion of primogems.

First thing's first: they're NEVERRRRRRRR going to let players "directly buy" a limited 5 star character. That's beyond copium. The whole FTC thing is about transparency more than anything, and having more safeguards in place for young kids who are spending ridiculous amounts of money on Genshin.

The fact is: FTC only saw p2w players, and as a 100% f2p player, I can say that I have no problem managing how much I pay in the game(I have more than 120 pulls and waiting for the rewards I will earn)
that not even enough to guarantee your desired 5 star though, and youre not even counting the weapon. If you lose both 50-50s and dont get early 5 star pulls, then youre literally 1/3 of the way to getting 1 character and 1 weapon (it takes 360 wishes max).
The only money I ever spent on Genshin was a few times battle pass and the log in bonus "sometimes". Never had any issues getting every character I wanted.

@ I started early in Inazuma, then after Inazuma was completed I did dailies for a while before going on hiatus for months. Then did a little Sumeru, hiatus again and then started again mid-Fontaine. I have almost all characters that I want. The game throws SO many free pulls at you, if you don't want to go for Constellations or Weapons, you don't really need to spend money. Even moreso the case in other Hoyotitles where they regularly just gift you 5 stars.
The problem was they display "HUGE INCREASE IN DROP RATE" and the rate is 0.6%, it is misleading indeed not for us who look into details but for children below16 years who can't understand those complex descriptions.

They're generally NOT doing this, to be fair. Every once in a while you hear about this happening, but the majority of the funding comes from adults paying thousands of dollars to get c6r5 of their waifu or husband, or just to flex meta or be completionist. The staggering difference between what whales spend and what some random kid with a credit card spends makes it clear: Hoyoverse just cba to care about the latter.
You'd think so, but nah, just recently, I saw someone post cause they were confused about how they got Tighnari on a Mavuika banner. You gotta understand that a lot of players are kids/teens, or they don't spend a lot of time online (within the community) to fully understand what pity is or what a 50/50 is, etc. When I started playing I was extremely confused for a long while cause Genshin was my first gacha. It's why I started watching tutorials and engaged with players online to get a hang of things. But that shouldn't be necessary, you know? Everything should be clear enough for a child to understand. If they can have Paimon repeat the most obvious things, they should manage that much, tbh.

sometimes when a child plays on a mobile device, it's either theri own device, or their parent's device, and when a child plays on their parent's device, all the banking and paymenr nformation has already been set and the only thing the child needs to do is like press "purchase" when they find themselves in the ingame shop
Many countries in the Europe have even stricter laws concerning gambling/gacha games. Take countries like Belgium and the Netherlands for example they have very strict laws concerning gacha and lootboxes (things like project sekai and pokemTCG are banned there) The only reason why Genshin isn't fined or removed from all services is because according to most jurisdictions the pity system is clear and there is a guaranteed. It's open to the public and it's on the banner. The only reason why the USA is fining them is because it isn't completely in your face when you open the banner system. So most likely nothing will happen in Europe

they won't probably make characters directly purchasable. Instead they'd make wishes purchasable instead of genesis crystals. ftc only mentioned not to make purchases confusing so hoyo will exploit that language of ftc.
nah, probably just show the pity as in zzz. The probabilities are explained in the details, and with the pity system you are guaranteed to avoid a lawsuit for not getting something guaranteed (that's why they fixed the weapons banner). The cash currency will at most indicate its equivalent to wishes (i.e. divided by 160), but it will not disappear because it is needed to buy other things apart from being transformed into primogems. On the contrary, primogems would appear as purchased (at the equivalent of 1/1).
I’m just surprised they haven’t done this to practically every other gacha game out there, Ik you’re not gonna wanna hear this but, genshin has a better pity system then 90% of gacha games, mainly because it actually has a pity system, unlike most gachas. Edit: clearly those who disagree to what i said only play genshin and wuwa and use them as a basis for how gacha games are and aren’t supposed to be. Let me reiterate this in a way that you can understand, gacha games are not supposed to be your friends, they aren’t meant to just give you want you want for free, every gacha game is created to make a profit by enticing players to spend. I’ll just make a quick example, in dokkan battle you can use dragon stones to summon for current characters banners, you are guaranteed a SSR now there are 10 featured units(FSSRS) and Unfeatured SSRS( which is every single ssr in the game since release(2015)) and on top of that there’s only a 5% chance for a FSSR and the other 95% is for units that aren’t even on the banner(which is hundreds of them) now bare in mind you have a five percent chance for a featured unit not the main unit(let’s say mavuika in this case) so now you have a 0.5 percent chance to get the main unit, oh but I forgot to say that there is no pity, so you could theoretically spend 1 million dollars and still not get the main unit, because the chances don’t compound which means even over a million times your chances will forever remain 0.5 percent. Now tell me that genshins pity system is horrible, just remember dokkan has been doing this for 10 YEARS and has been consistently one of the top grossing gacha games ever, so don’t say it’s unpopular or unheard of, yet they get away with it scotch free, tell me that isn’t misleading when you have massive words saying, GUARANTEED SSR UNIT, while also give a free ten pull after every three ten pulls which is around (200 dollars) with a time limit to entice players into spending more to get “better value”, that’s something that the FTC should talk about, not to mention dragon ball is immensely popular with children aswell. I’m not gonna sit here and act like hoyo is innocent cause they’re not, they have clearly demonstrated being able to make better pity systems such a hi3( yes it’s better) and hsr.
I think HSR, ZZZ, and WuWa alone override Genshin. The only difference is - of course - their weapon banners. Genshin’s weapon banner is ATROCIOUS. Pulling the right 5star is a less than 50% chance. In WuWa, it’s 100%. In HSR and ZZZ, it’s 75%. That alone makes those 3 games better than Genshin esp because weapons tend to elevate your characters a lot.
Genshin does not have a good pity system. Don't tell lies. If they have to change everything they should also then compensate people who have spent for gems in some way too. About time greedy Mihoyo coughed up some goods for the spenders
I’m pretty sure China has laws that require gacha games to honestly display the odds, which are stated clearly in the details section. Also I think most genshin players are already well aware of the exact odds.
As someone who has been playing an assortment of gacha games like FGO, PGR, Arknights, Blue Archive, ZZZ, Wuwa, Epic 7, HSR, so on so forth. I have to say that Genshin is definitely one of the best Gacha Systems at the time and it was quite clear and easy to comprehend for me in how the system works. Yes, games have come to have better gacha systems but they are few and far between that is why it is "one of them" and not "the best of them". I've been a f2p for most of the gacha games I play, with Genshin being the only exception because it does have a somewhat lenient gacha system which games like HSR, ZZZ and Wuwa adopted and improved upon. If people are spending more than they can afford, that's more of an issue on their self control because you don't have to pull on every banner. It's like spending money you can't afford to lose on a hobby, then at point you have an unhealthy obsession and need to remove yourself from the game for your own well-being.

I think that razor languaging the probability page is a good choice. If you're new to the gacha games (and alone) it's pretty hard to understand things, I mean, how many people didn't spend primogems on the standard banner without knowing that it's trash? A brief tutorial for new players, easily explaining how banners work, an easy reading probability page... all these things don't ruin our experience and make new players experience better.

If you have some more to explore in your account and is not in a rush for Wriothesley then you can try getting both citlali and Arlechinno before farming more gems to get furina on the second half of 5.4, that being said... You already have two strong DPS, but if you really want Arlechinno she's DEFINITELY NOT a bad choice. She deals tons of damage, works great with Bennett; zhongli and almost any good cryo/hydro applicator. However, if you're not THAT eager for Arlechinno, citlali may prove to be a better option. She reduces enemies resistances and applies Cryo really well, she would work great with Bennett and chasca (and maybe you would C6 your bennett) Even Clorinde can prove to be a good option if you like her, she works great nahida and your zhongli. On short, I think citlali would be better choice (she's also a cryo, so she can end up in the cryo vault and dissappear), bit if you really like Arlechinno then don't hold back. You can try getting the two of them **BUT** Don't forget that furina is right on the second part of 5.4, and 5.4 will not give you as much primogems as 5.3 is giving. I think we both know how much your Neuvilette C1 wants that furina... so good luck on whatever you choose BTW... you're Brazilian?
No where does it say that they're gonna sell characters all the document says is that they're being required to sell wishes directly for money instead of making you buy genesis crystals first
My opinion: Hoyo should introduce a "save banner" system, where people can save up to one banner for as long as they want, and it'll just show up as an additional banner on the wishing screen. You can only save one banner at a time, and you can end the saved banner whenever you want.
Maybe not for however longer they want, but maybe for an extra week since having the banner saved infinitely could complicate things or just make things unfair or wtv. It would also take away from genshin need to give a sense of urgency to players so they pull or spend more

They'll probably just add the option to buy Intertwined Fates in the store, and make pull rates appear on the main banner screen instead of just in the details section. They will probably also make players sign an agreement saying they're 16+, and if they're under 16 purchase requests made in the game will be redirected to a parent's email address to be approved instead. They'll probably implement the same changes in HSR and ZZZ (Impact 3rd doesn't really have this issue because you directly buy the pull currency and there's no 50/50). I could see games like Wuthering Waves implementing similar changes to avoid FTC fines since they know it's a possibility now.
I think transparency is great because a lot of people don't stop to calculate the odds or the amount of money spent. I'm all for the company being less predatory, always. It will force them to actually make the game better in the long run.

Thanks for this interesting discussion. Living in Europe I am not aware how in general clarifying the ID over the internet is handled. Therefore, I wonder if Genshin will collect more data than today, which they will be happy about to strengthen their marketing. In general, the system seems not to be unfair or unclear. I don`t expect any major changes.
I think the biggest change will be to Gensis Crystals and additional steps for purchases. There were complaints about the currency conversions. I doubt we'll be able to directly buy characters though.
Before I played genshin, I was a cookie run kingdom player, and while Genshin has (Imo) a better world and better gameplay.. crk’s gacha system is (imo) much much better because you have the chance to get all characters, not just the featured ones, it’s still mostly p2w like Genshin but it has a much better f2p focus (and yes I know we weren’t talking about that part of the gacha system, since i feel like that Genshin is mostly clear with their gacha system, it does kinda suck that you need to wait 2 years just to get one character, whereas in crk, you have a chance to get that character even if they have only appeared on a banner like 3 years ago, you still have the chance to get them.)

I got my start in gacha through one piece bounty rush. In that game they have a system where each character has their own fragments that can be used to ascend the character to the next level or unlock them if you don't already have em. It would be cool to see genshin do something like this within the shop or just 5* fragment rewards in game where once you gather a certain amount of 5* fragments you can unlock a character (could have all the 5*s in the game where you can purchase them with frags all the time or only the current banner characters). Also will make getting conns less of hassle and/or less resource consuming. Although this would take a complete overhaul of some systems in the game it would be more f2p and gamer friendly.

The "buying of characters" would most likely not take effect cause if they were to implement that, you'd most likely end up spending more money than you should to acquire the same character compared to the traditional pulling (you can get lucky while pulling, while buying the characters would most likely be so expensive that no one would actually do that) If the odds are written on the wishing screen, it might make it seem flooded cause of how much info they'd be required to display besides, even if they do display it, the same kids that couldn't read the wish details would most likely not read them on the wishing screen
cookie run kingdom has an upfront pity system for the higher rarities with upfront pity tracking, for the epics they have a rogation through the millage shop after batches you can buy up to 5 star with it.

Was talking with a friend about this before the ftc, they should just add limited time characters to standard banners after they’ve came out, have it so you can pick which character or weapon you want to get from the standard banner, and every reset increase the rates for a character and weapons going along the list. The conversion rate should also be 2-1 not 1-2 or at least a 1-1 ratio. Outright Paying anywhere $100 for a character is insane to me like no character in the game now or in the future deserves that.
It's FTP. The players were given decisions to spend or not to make their characters stronger or pull them quicker. Though I ended up one of the people who pulled Nahida and Navia banner in 10 pulls
I really want to see them do away with the 50/50 system. They do not have 50/50 in Honkai Impact 3rd(another Hoyo game) but instead have a guarantee to get the banner character. This would eliminate the frustration that comes with losing your 50/50 to a standard banner character.
I actually forgot what the actual rate was for pulling a character, and honestly didn't think it was that low since I got what I wanted out of recent pulls without ever hitting pity. Knowing once again what the rate is and potentially having it thrown in my face in the future of Genshin may turn me off from pulling. Granted, I would still pull for who I want to pull for, but I just wouldn't have as much hope...and I'm the type who suffers from depression and stuff soooo...yeah. But whatever happens, happens I suppose. Still gotta stick to my personal roadmap and try to get the characters I wanna get.
1:25 Honesty I didn't know the chances of getting Mavuika were this low but in some ways I got lucky and on my second wish of the single wishes and got Mavuika😅
I'm a small streamer and new player, played everyday for like a month cus the new maviuka banner looked sick after playing every for hours , on stream off stream and grinding 80 pulls.... They give me qiqi...the person from the standard banner...after a month of grinding. Stopping off stream play now entirely and will play a little on stream still but motivation to play is dead every drop I got was bad, first game and only I think I have ever played in life that's ever actually delivered real time dissapointed over and over again than finished up with the ULTIMATE dissapointment.
It would fix quite a bit of this if they increased the amount of banners to ten. Basically do upgraded chronicled wish for every banner. They wouldn’t lose much money on the change and it would ease everyone’s conscience. Sure people won’t panic pull when the banners about too end, but they also might pull more often and you might get more whales. I think it would be a nice change.
I think the purchasable 5 stars could be cool if they do it like WuWa, you would have to save (this is a rough estimate based on the WuWa Aftershocked Coral shop which is equivalent to starglitter) around 225 starglitter (or 45 pulls worth) to get a constellation of the currently running 5 star and you can only buy 2 per character per banner. Or they could take a different approach and have the limit be 3 and allow you to get the character instead of having to own them to unlock the purchase. They could easily do this by doubling the price of the first purchase to 450 starglitter (90 pulls worth) so if you want C0 you can save that but you can buy C2 straight up with 900 starglitter. This way they could also still have incentive to pull because you need to get the starglitter from somewhere and you can only buy up to C2 so for characters like raiden who's C3 is the most recommended you would still have to pull her once or wait for the next raiden banner so it can reset. I imagine if this was the case you could still buy 3 but the price wouldn't be doubled since you have the character already.
I'm confident enough to say that I'm well aware and understand the genshin gacha system. Which makes me know how far am I going to get the character I want, and when I pull I already save enough to guarantee that I'll get the character I want
Im F2P player and I have no problem with banners limited time. I grind and save about 180-200 wishes and pull for characters I like. I have passed some banners of course but they rerun eventually. This also give me time to focus building characters when there is no new characters flooding "to do list" all the time.
There should be an option to be able to purchase characters outright, without going through the gacha system, but put a lid on it. Like, you can buy Mavuika, but not her constellations - you need to wish for those. It would keep the gacha system alive since characters typically become more powerful with constellations. I never cared about the suspension of wishing I always wanted the character so if they add a direct buy the character option I will be really happy to just get the character and have it over with. As ftp spend possibly 180 wishes to get the characters which is more expensive and time-consuming. As an adult with my own money I will be able to choose and buy the characters that I really want and still be able to Keep farming the primogems and possibly get the characters that I don’t want as much with the wishes that I collected throughout the game. While I personally would welcome changes like normalizing the purchase prices, direct purchase without gambling etc. I find it to be a double standard to not include all gacha systems that have direct influence for gameplay like fifa. Fifa has a huge marketing strategy aimed at kids by emotionally bonding not with characters but with influencers who have direct connections with various gambling scenes. Like if you want to enter the big scenes like (valorant,) cs:go, fifa etc, then you will be redirected towards real life casinos and even though the kid won't go gambling, the excessive exposure has real life influence and damage in the future. And to get to the root of the problem, you need to start strong.

I think we should keep pulling because the shop may save pity or primos or 50/50s, but you may get early 5 star or a double and a lot of extra pulls from star glitter and 4 stars
I even would be happy if they lower their pity to f.e. 50 or 70 or maybe make better standard banner character, so you arent as sad about your 50/50 loss. Or just increase you rewards for exploration. Make it easier to get primogems (also good for f2p)
For me, "Buying" A character using real money has its pro and cons. The pro is: You get your character immediately and it'll stop P2W players to spend more money than usual. The cons however, It lose the thrill of getting a featured character at an early rate and just straight up entices more people to just pay for a specific characters. Plus it doesn't take the account towards F2P Players. I buy welkin time to time in advance (usually 1 or 2 months of welkin) when there's a specific character i want but i don't straight up spend more money than usual. I have a limit on how much I'll spend quarterly. But mostly i farm primogems cuz it gives me the satisfaction of getting these said in game currency. But overall, I believe that there should be a limit when spending real currency at Genshin especially if it's towards players ages 16 and below. But the video has the point regarding the parental consent since there are a few young players who'll do impulsive actions on buying genesis crystals just for a certain character. This is my opinion by the way. Don't take it to heart. But if there is an option to strengthen characters however, maybe add more 5 stars in the standard banner like how Cookie Run Kingdom do to their gacha system. Or maybe instead of making it feature or rerun on every patch, take a similar approach to Starrail where they do 3 5 featured star characters in one banner. That way, It'll give a chance for characters who haven't rerun for so long, problem is a few players will have a hard time choosing which character to pull and end up paying more money and it'll cost a bit more problems to F2P Players.
If the changes are made they should increase the rate and show the chances of getting a 5⭐️ like nikke has in the banner the % of getting the character and also have the golden tickets if you get 200 tickets to buy any character you want while you are saving those tickets you can buy the character The tickets are earn by just having the amount of necesary gems in the game like 60k gems are 200 pulls that are easy to earn in the game that equal every 1 pull equals 1 gold ticket so i hope was rhe case so we can have more chance to get more characters or weapons with that system if they put this on genshin and the other games like zzz or hsr🧐

The fact is: FTC only saw p2w players, and as a 100% f2p player, I can say that I have no problem managing how much I pay in the game(I have more than 120 pulls and waiting for the rewards I will earn)

The only money I ever spent on Genshin was a few times battle pass and the log in bonus "sometimes". Never had any issues getting every character I wanted.

@ I started early in Inazuma, then after Inazuma was completed I did dailies for a while before going on hiatus for months. Then did a little Sumeru, hiatus again and then started again mid-Fontaine. I have almost all characters that I want. The game throws SO many free pulls at you, if you don't want to go for Constellations or Weapons, you don't really need to spend money. Even moreso the case in other Hoyotitles where they regularly just gift you 5 stars.
The problem was they display "HUGE INCREASE IN DROP RATE" and the rate is 0.6%, it is misleading indeed not for us who look into details but for children below16 years who can't understand those complex descriptions.

You gotta understand that a lot of players are kids/teens, or they don't spend a lot of time online (within the community) to fully understand what pity is or what a 50/50 is, etc. When I started playing I was extremely confused for a long while cause Genshin was my first gacha. As a European player I am intrigued what Hoyoverse will do outside of the US. The EU will soon probably pick up this topic as well.
Many countries in the Europe have even stricter laws concerning gambling/gacha games. Take countries like Belgium and the Netherlands for example they have very strict laws concerning gacha and lootboxes (things like project sekai and pokemTCG are banned there) The only reason why Genshin isn't fined or removed from all services is because according to most jurisdictions the pity system is clear and there is a guaranteed. It's open to the public and it's on the banner. The only reason why the USA is fining them is because it isn't completely in your face when you open the banner system. So most likely nothing will happen in Europe

The probabilities are explained in the details, and with the pity system you are guaranteed to avoid a lawsuit for not getting something guaranteed (that's why they fixed the weapons banner).
The cash currency will at most indicate its equivalent to wishes (i.e. divided by 160), but it will not disappear because it is needed to buy other things apart from being transformed into primogems.
On the contrary, primogems would appear as purchased (at the equivalent of 1/1).
I’m just surprised they haven’t done this to practically every other gacha game out there, Ik you’re not gonna wanna hear this but, genshin has a better pity system then 90% of gacha games, mainly because it actually has a pity system, unlike most gachas.

Let me reiterate this in a way that you can understand, gacha games are not supposed to be your friends, they aren’t meant to just give you want you want for free, every gacha game is created to make a profit by enticing players to spend.
I’ll just make a quick example, in dokkan battle you can use dragon stones to summon for current characters banners, you are guaranteed a SSR now there are 10 featured units(FSSRS) and Unfeatured SSRS( which is every single ssr in the game since release(2015)) and on top of that there’s only a 5% chance for a FSSR and the other 95% is for units that aren’t even on the banner(which is hundreds of them) now bare in mind you have a five percent chance for a featured unit not the main unit(let’s say mavuika in this case) so now you have a 0.5 percent chance to get the main unit, oh but I forgot to say that there is no pity, so you could theoretically spend 1 million dollars and still not get the main unit, because the chances don’t compound which means even over a million times your chances will forever remain 0.5 percent.
Now tell me that genshins pity system is horrible, just remember dokkan has been doing this for 10 YEARS and has been consistently one of the top grossing gacha games ever, so don’t say it’s unpopular or unheard of, yet they get away with it scotch free, tell me that isn’t misleading when you have massive words saying, GUARANTEED SSR UNIT, while also give a free ten pull after every three ten pulls which is around (200 dollars) with a time limit to entice players into spending more to get “better value”, that’s something that the FTC should talk about, not to mention dragon ball is immensely popular with children aswell.
I’m not gonna sit here and act like hoyo is innocent cause they’re not, they have clearly demonstrated being able to make better pity systems such a hi3( yes it’s better) and hsr.

I think HSR, ZZZ, and WuWa alone override Genshin. The only difference is - of course - their weapon banners.
Genshin’s weapon banner is ATROCIOUS. Pulling the right 5star is a less than 50% chance. In WuWa, it’s 100%. In HSR and ZZZ, it’s 75%.
That alone makes those 3 games better than Genshin esp because weapons tend to elevate your characters a lot.

I’m pretty sure China has laws that require gacha games to honestly display the odds, which are stated clearly in the details section. Also I think most genshin players are already well aware of the exact odds.

As someone who has been playing an assortment of gacha games like FGO, PGR, Arknights, Blue Archive, ZZZ, Wuwa, Epic 7, HSR, so on so forth. I have to say that Genshin is definitely one of the best Gacha Systems at the time and it was quite clear and easy to comprehend for me in how the system works. Yes, games have come to have better gacha systems but they are few and far between that is why it is "one of them" and not "the best of them". I've been a f2p for most of the gacha games I play, with Genshin being the only exception because it does have a somewhat lenient gacha system which games like HSR, ZZZ and Wuwa adopted and improved upon. If people are spending more than they can afford, that's more of an issue on their self control because you don't have to pull on every banner. It's like spending money you can't afford to lose on a hobby, then at point you have an unhealthy obsession and need to remove yourself from the game for your own well-being.

Let's start with a detail: second half of 5.3 is going to give you 60 pulls. If you have some more to explore in your account and is not in a rush for Wriothesley then you can try getting both citlali and Arlechinno before farming more gems to get furina on the second half of 5.4, that being said...
You already have two strong DPS, but if you really want Arlechinno she's DEFINITELY NOT a bad choice. She deals tons of damage, works great with Bennett; zhongli and almost any good cryo/hydro applicator.
However, if you're not THAT eager for Arlechinno, citlali may prove to be a better option. She reduces enemies resistances and applies Cryo really well, she would work great with Bennett and chasca (and maybe you would C6 your bennett)
Even Clorinde can prove to be a good option if you like her, she works great nahida and your zhongli.
On short, I think citlali would be better choice (she's also a cryo, so she can end up in the cryo vault and dissappear), bit if you really like Arlechinno then don't hold back.
You can try getting the two of them **BUT** Don't forget that furina is right on the second part of 5.4, and 5.4 will not give you as much primogems as 5.3 is giving. I think we both know how much your Neuvilette C1 wants that furina... so good luck on whatever you choose

My opinion: Hoyo should introduce a "save banner" system, where people can save up to one banner for as long as they want, and it'll just show up as an additional banner on the wishing screen. You can only save one banner at a time, and you can end the saved banner whenever you want.
Maybe not for however longer they want, but maybe for an extra week since having the banner saved infinitely could complicate things or just make things unfair or wtv. It would also take away from genshin need to give a sense of urgency to players so they pull or spend more

They'll probably just add the option to buy Intertwined Fates in the store, and make pull rates appear on the main banner screen instead of just in the details section. They will probably also make players sign an agreement saying they're 16+, and if they're under 16 purchase requests made in the game will be redirected to a parent's email address to be approved instead. They'll probably implement the same changes in HSR and ZZZ (Impact 3rd doesn't really have this issue because you directly buy the pull currency and there's no 50/50). I could see games like Wuthering Waves implementing similar changes to avoid FTC fines since they know it's a possibility now.
I think transparency is great because a lot of people don't stop to calculate the odds or the amount of money spent. I'm all for the company being less predatory, always. It will force them to actually make the game better in the long run.

Thanks for this interesting discussion. Living in Europe I am not aware how in general clarifying the ID over the internet is handled. Therefore, I wonder if Genshin will collect more data than today, which they will be happy about to strengthen their marketing. In general, the system seems not to be unfair or unclear. I don`t expect any major changes.

Before I played genshin, I was a cookie run kingdom player, and while Genshin has (Imo) a better world and better gameplay.. crk’s gacha system is (imo) much much better because you have the chance to get all characters, not just the featured ones, it’s still mostly p2w like Genshin but it has a much better f2p focus (and yes I know we weren’t talking about that part of the gacha system, since i feel like that Genshin is mostly clear with their gacha system, it does kinda suck that you need to wait 2 years just to get one character, whereas in crk, you have a chance to get that character even if they have only appeared on a banner like 3 years ago, you still have the chance to get them.)

I got my start in gacha through one piece bounty rush. In that game they have a system where each character has their own fragments that can be used to ascend the character to the next level or unlock them if you don't already have em.
It would be cool to see genshin do something like this within the shop or just 5* fragment rewards in game where once you gather a certain amount of 5* fragments you can unlock a character (could have all the 5*s in the game where you can purchase them with frags all the time or only the current banner characters). Also will make getting conns less of hassle and/or less resource consuming.
Although this would take a complete overhaul of some systems in the game it would be more f2p and gamer friendly.

The "buying of characters" would most likely not take effect cause if they were to implement that, you'd most likely end up spending more money than you should to acquire the same character compared to the traditional pulling (you can get lucky while pulling, while buying the characters would most likely be so expensive that no one would actually do that)
If the odds are written on the wishing screen, it might make it seem flooded cause of how much info they'd be required to display besides, even if they do display it, the same kids that couldn't read the wish details would most likely not read them on the wishing screen

Was talking with a friend about this before the ftc, they should just add limited time characters to standard banners after they’ve came out, have it so you can pick which character or weapon you want to get from the standard banner, and every reset increase the rates for a character and weapons going along the list. The conversion rate should also be 2-1 not 1-2 or at least a 1-1 ratio. Outright Paying anywhere $100 for a character is insane to me like no character in the game now or in the future deserves that.
It's FTP. The players were given decisions to spend or not to make their characters stronger or pull them quicker. Though I ended up one of the people who pulled Nahida and Navia banner in 10 pulls
I really want to see them do away with the 50/50 system. They do not have 50/50 in Honkai Impact 3rd(another Hoyo game) but instead have a guarantee to get the banner character. This would eliminate the frustration that comes with losing your 50/50 to a standard banner character.

I actually forgot what the actual rate was for pulling a character, and honestly didn't think it was that low since I got what I wanted out of recent pulls without ever hitting pity. Knowing once again what the rate is and potentially having it thrown in my face in the future of Genshin may turn me off from pulling. Granted, I would still pull for who I want to pull for, but I just wouldn't have as much hope...and I'm the type who suffers from depression and stuff soooo...yeah.
But whatever happens, happens I suppose. Still gotta stick to my personal roadmap and try to get the characters I wanna get.

They wouldn’t lose much money on the change and it would ease everyone’s conscience. Sure people won’t panic pull when the banners about too end, but they also might pull more often and you might get more whales. I think it would be a nice change.

I think the purchasable 5 stars could be cool if they do it like WuWa, you would have to save (this is a rough estimate based on the WuWa Aftershocked Coral shop which is equivalent to starglitter) around 225 starglitter (or 45 pulls worth) to get a constellation of the currently running 5 star and you can only buy 2 per character per banner. Or they could take a different approach and have the limit be 3 and allow you to get the character instead of having to own them to unlock the purchase. They could easily do this by doubling the price of the first purchase to 450 starglitter (90 pulls worth) so if you want C0 you can save that but you can buy C2 straight up with 900 starglitter. This way they could also still have incentive to pull because you need to get the starglitter from somewhere and you can only buy up to C2 so for characters like raiden who's C3 is the most recommended you would still have to pull her once or wait for the next raiden banner so it can reset. I imagine if this was the case you could still buy 3 but the price wouldn't be doubled since you have the character already.
They could give free 5 multi on every banner where you can only pull on that particular banner that way it doesn't force players to pay to the game

I'm confident enough to say that I'm well aware and understand the genshin gacha system. Which makes me know how far am I going to get the character I want, and when I pull I already save enough to guarantee that I'll get the character I want
Im F2P player and I have no problem with banners limited time. I grind and save about 180-200 wishes and pull for characters I like. I have passed some banners of course but they rerun eventually. This also give me time to focus building characters when there is no new characters flooding "to do list" all the time.

There should be an option to be able to purchase characters outright, without going through the gacha system, but put a lid on it. Like, you can buy Mavuika, but not her constellations - you need to wish for those. It would keep the gacha system alive since characters typically become more powerful with constellations. This should also extend to weapons - you can buy one, but refinements require wishing.

As ftp spend possibly 180 wishes to get the characters which is more expensive and time-consuming. As an adult with my own money I will be able to choose and buy the characters that I really want and still be able to Keep farming the primogems and possibly get the characters that I don’t want as much with the wishes that I collected throughout the game. Idk about y'all, but I'm against outright buying a banner char with money.
While I personally would welcome changes like normalizing the purchase prices, direct purchase without gambling etc. I find it to be a double standard to not include all gacha systems that have direct influence for gameplay like fifa. Fifa has a huge marketing strategy aimed at kids by emotionally bonding not with characters but with influencers who have direct connections with various gambling scenes. Like if you want to enter the big scenes like (valorant,) cs:go, fifa etc, then you will be redirected towards real life casinos and even though the kid won't go gambling, the excessive exposure has real life influence and damage in the future. And to get to the root of the problem, you need to start strong.

edit: honestly, I really hope they don't add extra stuff for spending, even though I have spent money on genshin I personally prefer Honkai star rail and ZZZ which I play F2p, I find them much more enjoyable so if they make it more money focused it would really ruin the game, and seeing stats and all that laid out would really ruins the thrill. now letting us buy fates directly would really impact genshin, in a positive way, but I think just straight up buying the characters would be unfair, and would probably just promote spending more, and honestly as I said before playing f2p is honestly much more fun, and it feels like you've earned it. Or just increase you rewards for exploration. Make it easier to get primogems (also good for f2p)
For me, "Buying" A character using real money has its pro and cons. The pro is: You get your character immediately and it'll stop P2W players to spend more money than usual. The cons however, It lose the thrill of getting a featured character at an early rate and just straight up entices more people to just pay for a specific characters. Plus it doesn't take the account towards F2P Players.
I buy welkin time to time in advance (usually 1 or 2 months of welkin) when there's a specific character i want but i don't straight up spend more money than usual. I have a limit on how much I'll spend quarterly. But mostly i farm primogems cuz it gives me the satisfaction of getting these said in game currency.
But overall, I believe that there should be a limit when spending real currency at Genshin especially if it's towards players ages 16 and below. But the video has the point regarding the parental consent since there are a few young players who'll do impulsive actions on buying genesis crystals just for a certain character.
This is my opinion by the way. Don't take it to heart. But if there is an option to strengthen characters however, maybe add more 5 stars in the standard banner like how Cookie Run Kingdom do to their gacha system. Or maybe instead of making it feature or rerun on every patch, take a similar approach to Starrail where they do 3 5 featured star characters in one banner. That way, It'll give a chance for characters who haven't rerun for so long, problem is a few players will have a hard time choosing which character to pull and end up paying more money and it'll cost a bit more problems to F2P Players.
If the changes are made they should increase the rate and show the chances of getting a 5⭐️ like nikke has in the banner the % of getting the character and also have the golden tickets if you get 200 tickets to buy any character you want while you are saving those tickets you can buy the character
The tickets are earn by just having the amount of necesary gems in the game like 60k gems are 200 pulls that are easy to earn in the game that equal every 1 pull equals 1 gold ticket so i hope was rhe case so we can have more chance to get more characters or weapons with that system if they put this on genshin and the other games like zzz or hsr🧐
