Die Spielbude (translation: playhouse) was TV entertainment series for children run from 1982-1989. It offered a colorful mix of music, shows, attractions, children's talk and hobbies. Recorded in Hamburg.
Limahl and Kajagoogoo appeared few times in die Spielbude, all are on my playlist.
Comments: extremely rare recording, Not many recorded performances of "I was A Fool" or "Don't Suppose" (even if it is lip-sync). Recorded in September 1984, when recording episode 26.

Lip-synch - that is correct, all of them (as majority in '80s, nothing unusual). Regarding no smile - I believe it has something to do with the attitude to the host, rather than anything else. You can see her translation is horrible, she is hardly translating half of what he says, would you be happy if that happens to you?

no, there wouldn’t be. The band is playing over a backing track. This is because this song was written and produced by Giorgio Moroder and Keith Forsey and that song can’t be reproduced verbatim live, as it was engineered in the studio by the master Giorgio Moroder.
These programs are all about playing the latest chart hits rather than a full live music performance. Lip syncing and playing over backing tracks is common in the music industry and it’s usually done for speedier production purposes.
However when you do see gigs with artists lip syncing sometimes it’s not noticeable, mainly because it’s the performance that people go for.
The set up for a fully live gig is a very different affair with more work involved, including rehearsing, sound checks, mixing, editing, sound engineers and roadies. It takes time and money to produce any live performance. Understand that using lip syncing doesn’t reflect an artists ability to sing.
