Good Wednesday morning Jami and fur babies. I honestly don't know how you do it. Your so super busy all the time. In the yrs you've become a farm lady from city girl and the knowledge you have learned to take care of the babies and foliage is nothing short of amazing. Everything you describe I understand. My 👒 off to you. Hope you have an awesome day 😎 ❤❤.
I wanted a low maintenance / dog proof water feature for my yard forever until I finally dug a hole deep enough to hold a feed bucket. I lined it with pond liner. Cut a hole in the side of the bucket near the bottom, set it in the hole and filled it with water. I used an old grill rack over the opening and got a fountain with a long neck that fit between the slats and put decorative rocks on top of the grill rack. I could of left it like that looking like a natural spring but I added a birdbath with a spinning rock because I’m extra like that😂
Kale is best whenit has got Frost. We we used to have kale standing outside all winter for vitamins. I am an old lady in Denmark and here it can g’et really could😊
Jami you are such a treat to watch. I love how you talk about and treat everyone and everything. You care so much about what and who you love, right down to the plants. The animals and people in your life flourish because of who you you are. I know, bejng someone who is extremely protective of my two beloved horses that if someone like you were to help me care for them I would allow it in a heartbeat.i do it all myself when it comes to my boys. I don't trust a lot of people with them as they are my whole world. So I guess that's saying a lot with the kind of person you are.Thank you for loving your babies like you do. It is so heartlifting to see such kindness in this world. Bless you and yours and have a fantastic day.
Cover the tops with some hay plus a tarp or newspaper. Just a little (like about a flake sized will add just a little warmth. I did this - an old Gardner told me this.
So much to do. You are such a busy lady. I use to be that busy until disabilities slowed me down. Now I have precious memories and thoughts of what I would love to do! Have a blessed day, loved the video
Awww it was wonderful to see the alpaca’s, they all look like they are enjoying the cold. Upside has grown, Indie is her cute self, Annie looked like she was going to conquer the world up on that hat and Ernie is looking so much better. So much prepping needed for such cold weather while we are in our summer here in Queensland Australia
Had to laugh when I saw Laverne standing with her front feet in a big white bowl. Love seeing Christmas - she's my favorite of all your dogs - I would absolutely love getting to snuggle with her and be on the receiving end of some "puppy kisses" from her. Hope all your hard work pays off and that the cold doesn't cause any damage.
Jami you have the best stuff to make your own compost. Boxes and tons of leaves. The leaves also make great mulch material. 4 P's people, pets, pipes and people. Stay warm. Here in Southeast Alabama I'm so kot looking forward to this Artic blast
I have a guy that helps us when we have to trim trees or take a tree down, when he chips the limbs/branches, he leaves all the chips/mulch for me to use in my gardens. He also has an abundance on his property and will bring me loads when I need it absolutely free.
My mom planted a Fig tree created by TX A&M called Alma Fig. It’s a Closed Eye Fig that never needs pruning and I’ve never had to protect it from the freeze. God helped you with all of the Rain. The plants/trees will absorb the water, which will help some plants from having all of the moisture pulled from them by the freeze, which is what normally kills them. My mother always deep watered, if there wasn’t rain, prior to a freeze. I remember her spraying the limbs of trees with water, but don’t know if it was for protecting them or just to create icicles for us to play with 😂. That being said, I am a couple hundred miles South of you, in the Texas Gulf Coast, Coastal Bend.
😊 Coating twigs and limbs with ice actually protects tender growth from deeper freezes. Apple orchard owners up north have misters to set between trees for this reason. It is insurance for the coming summer crop.
@@joycebrewer4150 I’ll have to spray down my apple tree. I actually have one that doesn’t require the amount of cold weather that is required like the Apple Trees in the North. (Probably created for our weather by TX A&M 😅)
Jami i love watching your videos ,your so down to earth and im learning alot from you and lester. Thankyou for caring of those beautiful animals. from ontario canada.
Wow, I seriously didn’t think others could have crazy weather temps as bizarre as we do here in Wisconsin. That’s right, we’ve had days like that 70 for the high, and 20’s for the low. I remember a December day like that. We’re notorious for weird weather in one day.😂 Laverne standing in the bucket really made me giggle. You’re right Jami, goats are strange.😊❤
I sympathize with you JAMI. Keeping your investment in plants is not easy, but you are doing the best job. Love seeing the animals watch you work. They are well cared for. We are headed for Florida next week to escape some of this cold weather. Love family time. It's God's grace for this hard-working girl.
Look for “freeze cloths”. They’re BIG. Really big! Group your pots and cover, anchor and be satisfied you have done GOOD! Trees-- if no mulch, wrap beach towels around tree base. Anchor. Pray. PS. Since we had rain. Trees are hydrated! Yeah!!!
Hey Jami 😊 I can see why you love your garden so much. It is so peaceful. All I could hear were wind chimes 😊 I hope the weather is kind to you and everything survives. As always sending love and prayers ❤😊🇬🇧
Good afternoon Jami, you have been working so hard ,I hope your plants and veg make it through this cold. Thank you for sharing your life and babies with us.
Jami, we lived in New York. My father every fall would wrap our fig tree in blankets then cover the blankets and lastly with waterproof roofing paper type stuff. Then cover the top with a bucket. Every spring he unwrapped it and that tree produced tons of wonderful figs. I tell you this in hope that it helps your fig tree babies survive the Texas cold. Our tree was 6-8 foot tall. The brances would straighten out about 2 weeks after he unwrapped them. He would tightly wrap the branches around the tree. Next came blankets, then roofing paper and lastly the bucket on top. You much wait until most of the leaves have fallen. I hope this helps.
Jami get some burlap to cover those cold sensitive trees and other plants like roses. If you were to plant Pansies or other cold hardy plants in your Green Stalks you can cover those as well with old sheets or blankets. Just move them under the porch or into the shop. You are better off with the wind blowing than not it keeps the air moving and warmer with less chance of plants freezing.
It made me giggle when you said "Google was wrong" because someone bought my ex a shirt that said "who needs google its always wrong my wife is much better because she is ALWAYS right" 🤣🤣
I can't get over how well and harvest-full your texas garden is in January😏. It's -19° and windy here in your old home state🥶. Takes about 6 seconds to freeze any exposed skin.⛄ C'mon Spring 2025 🔆🌼💛🌼
Oopsie you busted one pulling it out nope I didn't see it !! 😂 Hello Indy Annie, Ernie, and little upsie you cutie patootie❤❤❤ Tina says Mom I need something special to snack on to fuel up my heater 😂😂. Glad you're getting it all ready before the Siberian weather hits this weekend Jami ..
Hi Jami, I am catching up with all vids. Am like you, love garden and tis the time of year to start sowing. A massive amount of choice which can become all to much lol x
Jami, every spring I purchased several yards of mulch and had it delivered. One year I decided to be extra eco friendly and got red , recycled mulch. I highly recommend that you stay away from it!!! It was full of nails and when you stepped on it, your feet turned red from the dye. It was just a mess in every sense. After that, it’s always pine bark or cedar. 😘😘❤
2018-Double-Dipper from California... Hey Ya'll... Hang in there, Jami❣️👍 We're right along side with ya'll. Hopefully, this will be the year ya'll get some "fence cages" around those fruit trees. After the cold & rainy season is over, a good-sized leaf "mulcher" would be beneficial for those flowerbeds & for Widows Ridge. My prayers to ya'll and all the babies Bigs & Little's who may be struggling with the harsh weather everyone is experiencing.
I also didn't realize who many kinds of mulch there was. I thought mulch was mulch. Annie face is cute. Annie queen of the hay pile😊😊. Upsie Daisy is getting big love her eye brows. Ernie looks back to normal. Stay warm & safe❤😊.
I'm overwhelmed with gratitude! As a single mom, I went from living on the streets with my beautiful daughter Alex to becoming a proud homeowner in florida .I invested $50,000 in the digital trading market and, by God's grace, I earned $500,000 in just 2 MONTHS! I'm living proof that prayers are answered and hard work pays off!
All thanks mrs Roberta Ann Caudill who has always been there to help me with detailed analysis and recommendations that I would not have had access to otherwise with the right terms.
My three gown-up kids hated when they knew we were going to the store. That meant going through the Garden door entrance just to get LOST for an hour before getting food. I feel you're pain.
Hi Jami thank you for a fun timeout Tues. Hope all the plants and trees survived the cold blast. Isn’t there another cold blast coming through again. Hope not. Thank you for the video today. Have a great day. Take care lots of love and prayers God bless. 🙏💕

Also, I did the dump truck load of mulch this past summer. It was SO much work. The bags are actually easier to move around to the different spots you need them and just dump them out. With the truck load pile, i had to shovel it into the wagon/wheelbarrow, move it to the different beds, and dump / shovel it again. With the bags it’s easier to dump in amongst the shrubs and flowers - but a pain in the butt with a shovel.

You are one super busy, lady. I feel bad that you can go from 70 down to 22°. That’s not only hard on your plants, but it’s hard on the animals.. we had 7° the other morning when I woke up had to get the dog out it took three tries before she did her duties. She keep picking up her paws and then running to the door, picking up her paws and running to the door.🥰❤️
My nephew had a small orchard in his yard he would mulch around the trees an get burlap around the trees an sometimes would do hay around an once spring came he would feed them some kinda spike in the ground it would boost the fruit an Roots for him

Cedar does well repelling some unwanted insects like fire ants

Busy bee!!! What a wild temp range. The alpacas make the best facial expressions ever ♥️🤣🦙
Good morning Jamie, Unusual cold winter here . Ready for Spring.
Thanks for another terrific video! The Big chill is headed for Florida, too.
Hi Jami. You did a fantastic job of getting things ready for the freezing temperatures. Good luck, and try to stay warm.
I mix red and black mulch. It's a little more work, but I personally think it looks fabulous!
You've got that hardy Midwestern stock. I know you can stand anything that Texas cold can throw at you! You've got this!🥶
Love how Indy hangs out with her Dad❤️❤️❗️
Good morning Jami I pray that we all warm up ❤take care be safe
I was at Lowrs yesterday & that's how I felt in the garden center
So much to do. You are such a busy lady. I use to be that busy until disabilities slowed me down. Now I have precious memories and thoughts of what I would love to do! Have a blessed day, loved the video
Best mulch is cedar mulch or known as “play ground mulch”. Deposes well into ground, stays in place if you get a rain after applying to ground.
Good morning Jami. You’re going to get a lot colder soon.😮
Awww it was wonderful to see the alpaca’s, they all look like they are enjoying the cold.

Jami , if you pull the big leaves of the cauliflower up and tie then your cauliflower will remain white and bug free just saying ,
That bag being opened was quite a treat. I was like jami nooooo
I saw that too
Same., I startled my husband.
Isn't it funny how we all feel like they can hear us. Lol. I love them for that.
Alpacas are so beautiful ❤
Jami you are So cute when you saw her playing in the hay and then finding your Purple Cauliflower! I just Love your giggles ❤

That’s a lot of prep. I do hope your plants survived. I’m glad yall made it thru the first round of cold. Good luck on the next one🥶🥶
Hello Jamie i love to see the alpaca family, Annie and Ernie are such good parents ❤️ 💜 ♥️...xxxx ❤❤

My poor aloe plant...
I forgot about it and now need to try to revive it. 🙏🏻
Love Annie and Family ❤❤❤
I love watching the alpaca listen to you! 🤭

And that's in Ohio
Bless your heart… lifting bags can be ruff sometimes if it’s wet !!!!
Yep, we saw it. LOL Poor Jami

So good to see the goats and Annie and the pigs. Seems like all we see is horses & cows anymore.
Question off topic: shouldn’t Indie be moved over with the horses soon? Isn’t Indie about old enough to become a mom?
You’re amazing. Good job, Jami. ❤❤❤

Your such a hard worker Jami❤
Good job taking care of all the things.
It was 10° here in WV this morning 🥶
The high today is only going to be in the 20's 🥶🥶
Hi Jami thank you for a fun timeout Tues. Hope all the plants and trees survived the cold blast. Isn’t there another cold blast coming through again. Hope not. Thank you for the video today. Have a great day. Take care lots of love and prayers God bless. 🙏💕

Don't forget that the frogs would love those little ponds too. Also, can you rake those leaves into a pile for warmth?
Good luck, praying the animals stay warm which I'm sure they will because you've made sure
Good morning Jami thank you for having me along God bless y'all love y'all

Good morning Jami Happy Wednesday the alpacas do look warm 🥰❤️
Thanks Jami. ❤
old saying, "believe half you read, half you see, & half you hear".
Yes pansy’s are great in the cold ! I’ve had them survive in snow. Get some, they are so pretty.❤
You are one super busy, lady. I feel bad that you can go from 70 down to 22°. That’s not only hard on your plants, but it’s hard on the animals.. we had 7° the other morning when I woke up had to get the dog out it took three tries before she did her duties. My nephew had a small orchard in his yard he would mulch around the trees an get burlap around the trees an sometimes would do hay around an once spring came he would feed them some kinda spike in the ground it would boost the fruit an Roots for him
Too many choices for sure Jami ❤❤❤
Great job Jami and Great video!❤😊
Ohhh dill! I never can find any here to make my mom's delicious pickles.
Black mulch I found it kills my plants because it holds the heat and burns up your plants in the summer.
Luckily the UK is pretty mild for this time of year. Really hope yours turns out to be nowhere as bad as you all expect ❤
