    Found my birth parents who actually got married shortly after giving me up for adoption. Best day of my life❤️ We celebrated 40 years of knowing each other this past Valentine's day which is the day I finally was able to talk to them on the phone for the first time ❤️

    As a birth mom - I did love my child enough to give them away to have something better than what I could give that child. I loved them enough to tell myself the truth.

      @@Coach.KallistaI can’t imagine being decades in. My son is 2.5 and it has taken me a hell of a fight to even make it this far. 😅 I wish people would stop saying things like “she didn’t want me” because the pain of placing a child is absolutely unlike anything else most will ever experience. It’s no small feat to give birth and watch your newborn leave with someone else.

    I found my parents when I was 17. And my 5 siblings, now I have 6 and 3 step brothers plus my adoptive brother! I searched for my family my whole life, since I knew what adoption meant. I would skip lunch every day in school and go to the computer lab or the library and just search and search, with nothing to go off of. Finally I got I social worker at 17 who contacted the social worker who did my adoption and she agreed to give me my records if my parents agreed, since I was still a minor. They did, they wanted to meet me, and we’ve been part of each other’s lives since. I wish I could have found them sooner, or better yet had never been adopted, but at least I have them now.

    From the day I was born every week my 16 year old birth mother wrote me letters about how much she loved and missed me. My parents kept my adoption open and very known to me and my brother( he is Laotian we are all white haha) as well. My mother let me know how much they both loved me. My birth father was sent off to the navy. His parents cut him off from my birth and everything, but he found me and now we camp almost every summer. I have a close relationship with both my birth parents. I couldn’t be happier to have so many people who love me.

    There are reasons why people give their children up for adoption and they're rarely good. I'm adopted and I completely understand the curiosity of wanting to know where we came from, who we look like, and getting the answers to all the question that we've struggled with our whole lives. That said, please be prepared for learning some difficult realities. Yes, you can find your parents and or family members and siblings but rarely do these things go beyond the initial meeting. I've got double digit siblings by the same two parents and several took very different paths in life. Just be cautious, meet them on neutral ground and don't share too much about your life until you know who you're dealing with.

    A mother who chooses adoption makes that choice out of love. She loves her child more than she loves herself. I know that my birth mother loved me. I also know that she wasn't capable of raising a child. My mother had a hard life that ended when she was only 29 years old when she was murdered. I have met my biological family and it's easy to see why my mom lived the life she did and I feel blessed to have not grown up with those people. Could I make the choice my mother did? No. I'm not strong enough to make that choice, even if it was best for my child. I'm selfish and want him with me. It's not for him, it's for me.

    I helped my adoptive son find his birth mother and father. It was a mixed bag, but we wouldn't have done it any other way. I was with my son through the whole search, etc. Contrary to what others might expect, my son now feels closer to me than ever before. We took a risk and put it in God's hands. The questions had a weight to them that wasn't exactly accurate. Now, that they are answered, we are stronger than ever. Don't be afraid. The truth will set you free.

    This is a very sweet story. Many don't have such nice endings and many never even know they were adopted.
    No offense to this woman, but "God" didn't do anything here. If he did, then he made a mess of just about everything except for her name. Of course it is totally possible for her to be named the same as her birth mother named her. That's not unheard of. Sure, it doesn't happen most of the time, but that's what chance means. To say this was some kind of sign is a huge stretch and doesn't take into consideration all the hard work it took to find her mother.

      Rosie Girl , unless thoseparents told you to your face that they didn’t want him, you can’t believe it. I have watched enough of these adoption stories to know it was common practice to say the bio parents didn’t want the child, saying the mother was an addict etc, not always true. My question to you is if your son told you he is considering searching for his bio parents, would you be ok with that? If you hesitated for a moment when you read that question, then maybe you have been giving him signals (subconsciously) that you can’t handle him searching. In which case, he may hold off searching not to upset you. Are you afraid he will not love you? If so, then you need to know your relationship will not change ,his feelings will not change. We as humans are capable of loving a lot of people, we don’t have to love someone less in order to start loving someone new (Eg you don’t love your child less when you recieve a grandchild).. Maybe consider having a think about your own feelings in all this, then consider talking to him and let him know you support him in searching for his bio parents if he chooses to. Give him a clear answer.

    Children should have a protected legal right to know they're adopted and to have access to their biological family. In the absence of danger, these children should be able to communicate with their siblings, their aunts, their uncles, their cousins, their grandparents, etc. Because adoption doesn't just separate parent and child, it separates the child from the entire family. Family members also mourn the loss of children to adoption.

    I understand wanting to find out who your parents are but sometimes it’s really for the best because you’re birth parents are so capable of taking advantage of you even your siblings sometimes they no what is best. My grandson was adopted and I can truly see and really his father. And I think his brother and sister who are both via logical to him have a father who would love to get what he will inherit from his new mom. He loves her but can he resist the urge to help them and loose the land that will be left to him. 80 acres by 3 and that’s a lot to lose when it’s handed down by family

    Massachusetts allows adoptove families to change the names of the biological parents on birth records. I think adoption law should be federal.
    Im hoping for reunification to reconnect in the future. Ive joined bio moms aupport groups.

    Geesh... I have to imagine that some of those birth Mom's listed on the birth certificates had no idea that one day their info would be made available to the child they gave up. This story worked out so well for Mom and daughter, but surely that didn't happen in every case. Seems it could be heartbreaking for some for any number of reasons.

    Oregon opened theirs in the 1990's. I haven't heard of any problems due to the opening of these records.
    And really, once a person is 18, and legally an adult, what right does any state have to tell them that they don't have the right to know who they are or what their history is.

    So the people who opened their hearts and adopted went through the baby years and then the school years, making sure the child gets to and from there activities. Being there at night at the bedside when the child has a fever are just glorified, babysitters?

    This is a beautiful story, but I'm on the fence about this. What happens if the mother who put the child up for adoption didn't want to be found (closed adoption)? That's my only qualm.

    • @AlexTheMary
      @AlexTheMary 8 років тому +3

      MrJtknight I get that but my point is What if this was a different story and the mother didn't want to be found and wanted nothing to do with her daughter and that's why she gave her up in the first place? Then it would have achieved nothing but upset on both ends.

    • @wdbreezy
      @wdbreezy 8 років тому +4

      That was what I experienced when I contacted my birth mother. Her husband didn't know about the adoption nor did her children. I was a reminder of something she'd been trying to forget all those years.

      +Alexandria Ingram Doesn't matter if they don't want to be found or not. They have every right about to look up their mothers.

      +RedX165 There are "rights" on both sides - the right to search and the right to stay anonymous. My story doesn't mean that adoption itself doesn't work - I had a wonderful upbringing with privileges I wouldn't have had if my birth mother had kept me - it's just a reminder that not all search endings are happy ones. Everyone loves a good adoptee/birthparent reunion story.

    • @RedX165
      @RedX165 8 років тому +5

      Suzy Whitten Thing is you can't stay anonymous. They need to know the mother and father medical information. They then can ask for it.
      No matter what you can be known to your adopted kid. Not all end in happy reunion.

    I am a parent of abducted children not adopted! I nearly lost my life shortly after the abduction of the children and the theft of my Identity at that time. I am going blind due to my injuries and nearly every tooth in my mouth was fractured due to the brutal, brutal force of the blow's to my skull. We're absolutely mortified & horrified! We've got criminals and Psycho's who have not only been using my husband's & my name and associated fraudulent identity, but of our loved ones, some who are missing, deceased or just "made" themselves part of the family. Some of us had a nice life, beautiful children and it was stolen from us. Nobody even resembles my abducted children. My husband's first wife can't be found.
