On her debut mini album ‘LIFE NOTE’, there are songs like ‘Cheer Up’ and her other hit songs such as ‘Battery of Love’. The new song ‘Cheer Up’ is made by the dream team who made songs like ‘Battery of Love’ and ‘My love’. Cho Young Soo did the total producing, and Kang Eun Keong joined for the song writing process to make a rhythm that softens our heart.
The title song ‘Cheer Up’ is a song that has a sad melody along with the life stories of normal people, and it shows how everyone has their own set of stories and problems to overcome. It is a lyrical oriental trot song.

デビュー初のミニアルバム『人生ノート（LIFE NOTE）』は、新曲「生きることは」をはじめ、ヒット曲「愛のバッテリー」と、これまで発表した曲がすべて収録された。新曲「生きることは」は「愛のバッテリー」、「私の愛」を誕生させたドリームチームが再び団結し、作曲家チョ•ヨンスが総プロデュースを担当し、作詞家カン•ウンギョンが感性を濡らす歌詞を完成した。
タイトル曲「生きることは」は、悲しくて切ないメロディーに誰もが経験する人生史をのせた曲で、それぞれの事情があり、困難に耐えて生きることを表現した叙情的な感じのオリエンタルトロット（Oriental Trot）ジャンルだ。
데뷔 첫 미니앨범 ‘인생노트(LIFE NOTE)’는 신곡 ‘산다는 건’을 비롯해 히트곡 ‘사랑의 배터리’와 그간 발표한 곡들이 모두 수록됐다. 신곡 ‘산다는 건’은 ‘사랑의 배터리’, ‘내사랑’을 탄생시킨 드림 팀이 다시 뭉쳐 작곡가 조영수가 총 프로듀싱을 담당했으며, 작사가 강은경에 의해 감성을 적시는 가사 운율이 완성됐다.
타이틀곡 ‘산다는 건’은 슬프고 애절한 멜로디 위에 누구나 겪는 인생사를 담은 노래로, 저마다 사연이 있고 어려움을 견디며 산다는 것을 표현한 서정적인 느낌의 오리엔탈 트로트(Oriental Trot) 장르다.
The storyline is that after Hong Jin Young failed at a job interview she is saying cheer up. She is also reminded of how her dad lost his job when she was in high school and he was depressed. That is where the stamp comes in, she used it on her dad and then her husband Nam Goong Min stamped her hand to remind her to cheer up as well!

Not knowing his loss but feeling something wrong with him, she stamped his hand for cheering him up. (In her misfortune, she grew up.)
We can imagine that, forgetting their misfortune, they go home hand in hand just like they did in their past happy days.

Thank you so much for this song... I was about to give up my college for the second time because I fcking hate everything there... I was unhappy with what I was doing and all i thought about was what i could do if i wasn't in the course i was studying... Worst thing is i already changed course once, which means all my parents money were wasted.. Then i chose this course which i hated and wanted to quit again, but i didn't want to disappoint my parents, have relatives look down on us... I was in a serious dilemma until I heard this song... Now, Im just going to quit complaining and finish this course because if others can do it, why can't I? I have one more year to go and it will be over in a blink of an eye, so good luck me :) And everyone out there who is having a hard time, you can do it!!!

What I think the MV means:
The old man is fired from his job and his daughter (Hong Jin young) is desperately trying to get hired for his sake. She is reminded of when she came to visit her dad as a high-schooler and the good times they had.
She is worried that her father is having a hard time, so she stamps "Good job" on his hand (I think) and gives him a hug.
The father smiles and realizes that his daughter has always cheered him on during hard times. :)

The stamp literally says something more like 'Please get energy', but the phrase is used in the same way we would say 'Cheer up!'

며칠전 동네에 한불축제 오셨는데 정말 클라스가 다르게 잘 부르시더라구요^^ 마지막 순서셔서 막 인사하며 가시는데 사진다찍어주시려하고, 사람들 몰리고 밀쳐지는데도 웃음한번잃지않으시던데^^ 여러곡 부르시느라 힘드셨을텐데도.. '산다는 건'부르실 때 전율이 돋으면서 눈물도 살짝나던데! 물론 직업이니만큼 감수하셔야 하는 부분이겠지만 그래도 고생많으셨고 늘 잘되시길 바랄게요^^
산다는건 100점중에 100점이네요 역시 홍진영 타이틀이에요. 우리나라의 톱가수들을 이기는 홍진영. 요즘은 처음 출발 부터 먼가 터트리고 보는데 이곡이 지금까지도 사랑 받을 곡인것 같네 이건 처음부터 100점이야 지금 노래는 서서히 올리면 바꿀때 터지지가 않아. 안바꾸고 고정적으로 먼가를 계속 고집있게하는 이노래가 진짜 우리나라 감성에 맞는듯

I was and am jealous of daughters who are close to their father. Me and my dad aren't very close we rarely laugh and talk, sometimes we get awkward around each other. But I'm still happy. I know he loves me as much as all the fathers in the world love their daughters 😊 it's just that he doesn't know how to express it and as i grow older I've understood him more. Rambha Crystal Snow Be grateful you still have a dad with you, some people like myself, my mum and dad divorced when I was 2 and he was occasionally seeing me to take out as a kid but suddenly disappeared from the grid when I was 12 and doesn't talk to any of us or his family anymore :) I have been missing a father figure for so many years now, I'm used to it. And some people don't even have fathers anymore or have never even met their father ever. So be happy you still have your father by your side even if your relationship may be difficult at times, because it's the same with my mother :)) Cheer up! 💓

this song made my tears dropped out and it really touched me. After I heard this song, I realized not only me that have a hard life in this world. There are other people who have a tough life than me. So, I just need to cheer up even the difficulty is coming. Thank you for making such wonderful lyrics because it give me a spirit to continue my life even I don't know what will happen tomorrow.

I watched Hong Jin Young on We Got Married and I adored her character as she was bubbly and lively and loves to make people smile and laugh with her bright personality. Listening to this song, it really tugged on my heartstrings. I think this song - and video - is just perfect. Her vocals are just wow :O I had tears in my eyes listening her sing this song. I love how she looks in this video. So peaceful and serene. And the fact her (virtual) husband, Nam Goong Min acted in the video as well made me more believe her acting.
P.S. Yes, I do ship both of them together :)

I've listened to this song many many times but today was the first time I cried while listening to it. I thought I stopped mourning over SHINee's Jonghyun's death but I still miss him so much, I wish he listened to this song so he knew that he wasn't alone. I was originally watching sisters slam dunk and got fascinated at jin young then i stumbled upon this song. It made me cry. I’m so frustrated at life. I graduated college more than a year a go but i still don’t have a job. My friends are all successful when im here, i can’t even start dreaming. I can’t work very far because this year has been so hard my dad. He already had 2 surgeries and every day i worry about him. My cousin died three years ago, i was very close to him so when my mom called me thru phone and told me he died, i started having a little bit of anxiety that when i’m away, something bad might happen to my dad too. I want to work to get closer to my dream but i would need to live in a different city. I don’t want to leave the house since my mom has a lot of worries for me to leave her alone too. I worry about my dad a lot too so i can’t. I’m searching for a job that will earn me money but it’s far from my dream. I’m so frustrated as to why these things happen to me when people i know are having the best times of their lives while i’m here. :(
you have to go after your dream. no matter what. visit your parents often, but go do your thing. do it.
I get it. Sometimes it's easier just go chase your dream. Maybe the time it's not now for your to chase that dream. Maybe it's take longer time for you. Just don't let go that dream yet. Believe that everything happen for a reason
its never easy to go after your dream. it is hard for everyone. and you cannot wait for the "right time" bc then there will always be something else. you have to do it NOW.
