No, he was BORN in New Orleans, but mom took him back to her home in Bermuda when he was a baby. So he was raised on the island. It’s where the accent and culture comes from

The parents were on vacation in the states when they had him . He never lived in the states and none of his people are from there

Collie seems to be toning down his fake accent a little. I get that he has to fake the accent for most interviews, but this one he seems to be keeping it in the middle while still putting it on a bit.

Exactly. People from Bermuda don't speak in thick Jamaican Patois like he often does.
Patois is a language, not an accent. Look up the Bermudian accent -- though not technically located in the Caribbean region, the Bermudian accent is not too dissimilar from other accents you will hear in the islands.
Patois is not a language, it is a dialect, and Collie Buddz has faked it from the beginning. People in Bermuda do not speak like he does, there are plenty of examples online to listen to and compare to how he speaks. Also, there is a video on UA-cam called "What Collie Buddz is good at!" which you can search for and watch and see how he admits he listened to dancehall growing up and tried to figure out what they were saying, and how "it took a lot of work" to learn the accent.
Patois is defined as being "an English-based creole language with West African influences" but is also considered to be a dialect, yes. He learned to sing with that accent, sure, but I don't know what might be wrong with speaking in an accent influenced by the region he was raised in and the art that inspired him. Shrug.
