Veeeeee!!!!! I have followed you since your Oxford days, while I was finishing my undergrad, throughout my masters, and now I am in the second year of my PhD. I am so proud of you and you have always kept me motivated, and seeing the PhD version of these is as inspiring as it is reassuring, lol (over the past year whenever someone asks me how my research is going, in my head I'm like "DON'T WANNA HEAR IT.") Ahhh! The essay crisis music is back... I'm here for it! But also kinda giving me flash backs lol. Wish I could tell you that essay crises end with the PhD but 5 years into my doctoral studies here we are. Can't tell you Vee how many times your crisis videos got me through last minute research papers! xo

After 6 years of studying my PhD, I´m telling you... LEAVE, BE FREE....It takes away years of health and happiness with the amount of stress a PhD student has to overcome. Is not worthy at all, there are much humane ways to be trained as a researcher and make good money. Academia es very very faraway from the real world and the gap is bigger and bigger each passing day. Well, I surely will not disuade you from it, but I told so. Anyway, good luck.

I hope you feel better now, Vee.🌹 Please check your iron levels. When those are low, you become fatigued and sluggish despite adequate sleep. A high proportion of women are prone to iron deficiency.

It would have been better to make it clear that you already knew and had researched your proposal as the video makes it seem you had done no work! Please don't encourage people to work like this!! the proposal is so important and it would have been helpful to know how you'd gone about formulating your research idea and writing the proposal, as it was this video didn't actually tell us anything and honestly just felt a bit self indulgent. Best of luck though, I hope your applications go really well
I have read your other comments on her previous videos, and you seem to be very pedantic. She said she wrote the paper in 2 days, which would indicate, to me, that Vee already had a research topic in mind. Please do not take this the wrong way, but I had to call a spade a spade.

Hey Jo! I’m a super clear and transparent person! Everyone already knows that I always know what I’m going to write about because I look at my questions. I just wouldn’t have written it yet. Of course I’ve been researching my topic for a while, this is my field of work I know it really well. But writing a research paper I haven’t done before so yes it was still a crisis. A lot of us already know SOMETHING or another about our degrees or courses. It’s just that procrastination gets to us all. And then here we are. An essay crisis

@@veekativhu_ I wasn't saying anything negative about you, I was giving feedback on how the video was a bit confusing/unclear. I was honestly just trying to be helpful. Of course I know you know a huge amount about the area you have studied, but there's a huge difference between knowledge of a broad area and applying for a Phd to produce new research on a very specific idea/question! I certainly wasn't questioning your knowledge.

Hi Vee! Have you thought about applying for PhD positions in The Netherlands? Here PhDs are paid positions (2400-3100 euros/month dependent on the year you are in) and education/research guidance is very high quality! Wishing you a lot of success with securing a PhD position from a PhD student in The Netherlands :)
Also wanted to suggest anywhere in the EU where you get paid as a pre-doc
Fellow PhD in NL here, money isn't bad true.. high quality research guidance where though hahah no seriously, that is supervisor and group dependent not a country wide thing

i nailed the RP with 5000 words within a week and secured a full scholarship at Ox.
You are so efficient! I have about 1.5 months to write 2000 words and it'll probably take that long unless I put pressure on myself :) Taking notes before writing like what you do really helped me (managed to do most of my previous assignment at the airport and on the plane old school style). You could always be a singer if you needed a change of career!

Really sorry you have another essay crisis, but this is really helping motivate me to write my extremely important 1.6K essay which is due.... in about 9 hours. And I haven't even finished research :).

Girl I needed this... I watched your earlier essay crisis videos when I started uni and now I'm struggling to write my honors thesis in history. This couldn't have come at a better time! I could be writing about the most interesting thing in the world and it's still a struggle to write.

I'm new to the academic journey of life and I never knew how real the PhD stress is outside of the actual PhD. As someone currently registering for apprenticeships it has been stressful but this video makes me feel not alone in this chaotic period. Especially the waiting for responses period haha. We'll get through this though!

Good luck! ... You know, I got a PhD degree in 2018 (I graduated with honours from the university; in musicology). Well, it was worthless. I ended up unemployed. I'm not from the UK nor the US though. People got jobs only because of favoritism and nepotism. No one cared that I wrote a great PhD thesis , no one ever cared that I got perfect grades. No one wanted to hire me and they didn't even want to tell me why. No feedback. Nothing. Good luck to all!

If you're looking for another post-secondary institution then perhaps the University of Regina in Saskatchewan, Canada would be a great place for you to apply to. They may not be as well-known as Oxford or Harvard, but the education is impeccable. I believe the field of education is one of their specialties. 😉In all seriousness though wherever your life journey takes you I wish you well.
I also want to continue with my PhD but the funds are drowning me. I am already busy paying off my student loan that helped me pay for my Masters last year. It's really rough😆

Vee, when I was doing my two year MA in Classical Studies at the Open University, I use to suffer essay crisis in which I had to write 2,000 to 2,500 words because I struggled in essay writing. Vee, how are you feeling because you said that you have been feeling tired?

10:08 Personally, in addition to helping you stay awake, cold water or just cold drinks in general can help with headaches when paracetamol fails to do so! It can sometimes also help with anxiety or when your being overwhelmed :)))
