I disagree. Vicarious Visions did a great job with the attention to detail. Some of the attention to detail in the N-sane trilogy looks better than the original trilogy.
Vicarious Visions' variations look more polished and have smoother animation, but Naughty Dog's look more expressive and have better comedic timing, in my opinion.

I wish they retained the first one in the original game where Crash spins and the camera zooms on him and the background turns all black. The metal-like sound is so nostalgic too. The angel animation is cheesy.

that's partly because deaths in similar circumstances have been updated in the later games since the 1st one, and the N sane Trilogy uses the updated versions already in the 1st game

The original looked better in my opinion. There was more attention put into the expressions of Crash, not to mention the fact that because he doesn't has that realistic textures all that cartoony stuff feels more natural in my opinion (that's why I love the art direction of Crash 4 it's about time)
I love the death animations of the levels of the futuristic world of the original game, there they took the annoying ones of making original animation instead of recycling the one of calcined, in the original it is clearly shown that Crash's particles collapse
If the Devs added a update/patch in the future to add the three missing deaths, two missing Game Overs from 1 & 2 plus the missing dialogue from the Warp Game Over, add the missing sound from the electric gate, missing scenes, and polish it. I am not sure if I missed anything.🤔 I hope Vicarious Visions and Activision updates the Crash Bandicoot N Same Trilogy someday. I don't know if anyone asked them to do an update or patch? Well PC could try to restore a few of the problems with mods but the other problem is the dialogue and sounds.

PS1's are far more expressive like a cartoon or comic book, a perfect fit for this type of game.
