I decided to rebind an old copy of the Lord of the Rings trilogy! Using some traditional bookbinding techniques, we try to make a slightly more unconventional tome using leather, LED filament, and even som real silver metal casting!
📕 We also have a bookbinding course if you're interested in learning how to create personal books like this from scratch! / nerdforge ✨

Yes. I was envisioning a deep red, both for The Red Book and for Mordor. To be fair, though, you could make almost any colour work symbolically: gold for the Ring, black for the shadow of evil, brown in praise of humility. It's a bit tenuous, but blue could be for the hope of transcendent beauty in the light of the stars, which is such an important theme in the story.

After you've poured the molten metal into the mold, don't put it in water. That makes it more brittle, easy to break, and corrodes easier, and doesn't last as long. That is beautiful! If I were making something like this, I would use the light thread to light up the inscriptions of The One Ring on the front of the cover.

This is really cool. I want to see how to bind a book with the cords. I couldn't see exactly how you do it.
