  • In this short video recorded in India, Mingyur Rinpoche talks about the first few weeks of his retreat as a wandering yogi, and how he worked with the attachment to the bodily comforts, expectations and habits he brought with him on retreat, as well as the near-death experience that transformed his resistance and attachment into letting go and freedom...

Lovely Video! Sorry for butting in, I would love your thoughts. Have you considered - Proutklarton Enjoy Playing Plan (do a search on google)? It is an awesome one off guide for relieving back pain in just 16 minutes minus the headache. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my cooworker after a lifetime of fighting got excellent results with it.

I had a near death experience, later I was guided by Amithaba Buddha who gave me the confidence through samadhi to abandon a job building an app to sell meats (which was wrong because it assisted in the economy of killing sentient beings)... to take to the road for a shamanic journey and I have been on this path for 6 months without spending hardly any money (maybe 10 dollars total in 6 months). I have found my destiny and I am patient as it unfolds, have dropped many attachments. I have seen many miracles and it has been the most fantastic experience.

@@isaiahclaeys A quick video wouldn't suffice but I can tell this story in the form of a novella if there is enough interest.
A lot has happened since then and I'd rather focus on teaching people how to develop psychic abilities in a safer manner.
This is too dangerous for non-buddhas.

With great respect to honorable Lama Mingyur Rinpoche La, please allow me to write my thoughts here.
At the end of this video Rinpoche talked about where one can apply Rinpoche's Meditation on death, but from my experience i find it difficult to practice as Rinpoche advice. For me i live on pay check to pay check life in U.S.
NOT having a job is hard, because monthly bill like rent, utility bills, food, even to get around in city it costs $$$,
It really can put us in deep depression.
Sometime monastic way of practice religion doesn't help much for lay person. But thank you Rinpoche for reminding me that i still have my eyes, these hands and my laptop, and the time is still precious even though its not beautiful at the moment.

+S Wangmo Dharma "in action" means in real life, in cities with all the issues you talk about, has as much, if not more merit, than sitting in a luxurious room meditating, with everything provided and no worry whatsoever. Some will call it Karma...

I think he was saying to use your suffering as meditation practice on attachment. of course to survive we have basic needs that must be met. but my take from his teaching was to use your suffering as an opportunity to learn about your attachments. as a meditative journey in self discovery.

Yes that's right, for the lay person it is hard because you have attachments for the roof over your head & food etc. Meditation is a state in which you're able to view these attachments and gain insight into your desire and craving for them. The reason why you fall into a depression is because you cling onto these desires and cravings. Now these desires and cravings could mean that you have them for your very survival but you're still attached to them. Once you gain this insight that's when the growth happens and that's the beauty of it. It does not however make you more financially stable, if you want that then understand you need to look for a better job move out of that city where there is more accessible work and get a better paying job. Doing this though is essentially giving in to the desires, cravings like we all do and repeating the cycle of suffering...

You saw 'BLUE sky with the SUN SHINNING' ? That is the 'TAA GE RAA NING WAAFO MAA' in Yaakthung language.
That is the only 'ULTIMATE PERSON' which is called the GOD or the Creator etc also . Since you saw it during your accidental samaadhii -
I validate that your enlightenment is full and of the highest order. You may teach on your style meditation because that worked for you .
Follower meditation practitioners must not be disappointed for not have seen the 'blue sky with shinning sun' like Mingur did, that is because the rate of such enlightenment type is not even one person in several billion people.

Thank You for sincerely Sharing your experience;its seldom Lamas talk in such a way, about their direct experience,on an open platform to all,in fact i cant really recall coming across any story such as this previously, but found it somehow very reassuring and inspiring practical advise from an open hearted person who happens to be a Great Spititual Master, and I say this not because I am Knowlegable about Rinpoches Lineage or Spritual tradition, just that I am of the belief that Great Masters manage to transmit very Profound teachings simply without the need for reliance of complicated language, which it what i experienced here!

If you listen carefully you will see that we do not know if this is a near death experience or not. That rinpoche had a serious illness is clear, but passing out from dysentery happens to many people each day and they do not die. Nor achieve realization. What happened differently to rinpoche is that he used his training to practice a meditation that tantrikas use at the time of death. And just like when one learns this practice, he could have simply imagined his impending death, but this time with the added force of his symptoms. And here is where the great lesson lies. None of us know when we will die. In fact, you could have many near death experiences a year and not even know it. Maybe you have contracted deadly viruses, but you were able to fight them off. Perhaps a car has almost hit you on numerous occasions but you did not notice. Therefore it is vital to bring awareness into each and every moment, just as if you have had a near death experience. It doesn't have to happen for you to place yourself in the situation. Imagining it can work just as well because it is very likely you have had many such experiences without your being aware. Taste a strawberry. That very awareness is exactly the same as the awareness of your true buddha mind. When the Buddha tastes a strawberry and you taste a strawberry, there is no difference. That is pristine, pure awareness. Stay there.

There is some truth to this claim in that in India such beggarly living (bhikshu) and sanyasa (renunciate) even at young age is respected and somewhat supported by society. And the urge to renounce is alive in many young people’s mind.
master took the plunge to test his meditation by truly renouncing all and his inner soul created circumstances quickly to show whether he is willing to let go his karana sharira hidden self identity (which hides even during deep meditative states)
He tested out with passing mark.
One usually has to go close to death experience and recogniZe total helplessness to recognize that our body and mind are simply automata with no central willful doer.

    • @RaviAnnaswamy
      @RaviAnnaswamy 3 роки тому

The urge and readiness to give up everything in order to grasp truth is very important even though the actual giving up is not that important.
It does not matter whether I eat a full meal or tiny bit today. That is simply a matter of circumstance. How I feel about it is my understanding. I can eat rich and feel pride or feel guilty or feel discontent or thankful. I can eat meager and feel thankful or proud or discontent.
