Undoubtedly the greatest country musician who ever lived. A very spiritually deep man. He is the gold standard by which every other country artist has since been measured.
Hank Williams Sr was my Dad's favourite singer and he sang his song's all the time and I really wish that I sang with my Dad. I loved to hear my Dad sing and I miss him so very much and I love him so much. I look forward to the day that I will be with him again and the rest off my family.
Bought a HANK record at my local record shop yesterday for only 5$ and this song is on it and it is now my favorite record. Something about these old country records that is true love. I usually do listen to super heavy metal and black metal but there is nothing like this ...
"I Love You Truly" was one of the most popular songs from the turn of the century. First written in 1901 by Carrie Jacobs-Bond, it was first recorded in 1912 by Elsie Baker. As this song suggests, it was long a wedding staple, and the songwriter performed the song for three separate presidents. Beautiful song by Hank.
Hank, at the end was very troubled due to wife, business (music n musicians), and his drinking. He died from heart attack in his car with lots of alcohol in his blood... He was troubled but fantastic musician 👍. Also: HARRY CHOATES also died at 28 and he also was fantastic, a beginner of the Cajun n Louisiana style fiddle. Died from alcohol 🥲.
On this day in 1949 {August 20th} Hank Williams' "Wedding Bells" peaked at #2 {for 1 week} on Billboard's 'Best-Selling Retail Folk (Country and Western) Records' chart, and for the week it was at #2, the #1 record for that week was "I'm Throwing Rice At The Girl I Love" by Eddy Arnold... "Wedding Bells" was the first of six of his records to peak at #2 on the Billboard C&W charts, the other five were "My Bucket's Got A Hole In It" {1949}, "I Can't Help It" {1952}, "Honky Tonk Blues" {1952}, "Half As Much" {1952}, and "Settin' The Woods On Fire" {1952}... Sadly, Hank Williams, born Hiram Williams, passed away at the young age of 29 on January 1st, 1953... May he R.I.P. And from the 'For What It's Worth' department, the remainder of the Best-Selling Retail Folk Records' Top 10 on August 20th, 1949: At #3, "Why Don't You Haul Me Off and Love Me?" by Wayne Raney #4. "Lovesick Blues" by Hank Williams #5. "Slipping Around" by Ernest Tubb #6. "Tennessee Polka" by Red Foley #7. "Room Full of Rose" by George Morgan #8. "Country Boy" by 'Little' Jimmy Dickens #9. "Slipping Around" by Floyd Tillman #10. "Don't Rob Another Man's Castle" by Eddy Arnold #10. "A Long Line of Love" by Michael Martin Murphey

My ex husband sounded identical to Hank, when I first heard him sing I thought it was Hank singing but to my amazement it was him and from then on he would always sing me a couple of Hank's song's at least 4-5 a day and I raised my son on Hank's music
You wish not me , I loved my Dad and never wanted anybody else or imagined my Dad to be anyone else. My Dad was an alcoholic and it was a disease like any other disease and I expected him for what he was and I loved my Dad with every fiber off my being and I know that my Dad loved me unconditionally.
I will never stop loving my Dad as long as I live even though he's gone and I look forward to seeing him again and my brother and sister and everyone else that has before me . I can't wait to see my Granny and my uncle's and I'm looking forward to meeting my Grandparent's on my Dad's side and meeting my Grandpa on my Mom's side
I can't wait to see my Brother cause I have missed him so much since he left and I now it was up to him he would never have left me he without him. He was my rock my life and I loved him more than life it self and I know that he felt the same way about me . DAVID I can't wait to see you again and hold you in my arms but until then I am happy to be here with my kids and I hope to be with them for as long as possible

True, since I was born that I’ve been listening to him and I still couldn’t go close to him.
What would country music have been without Hank Williams Sr?
@@atfourothirtythree Hank and Lefty made an indelible mark on the genre!
Sometimes you just have to get back to the real, heartfelt side of country music. That's why I'm listening to Hank this morning.
