I normally wear my braids in to school as its easier to cope with but I took them out and went natural to school. You have no idea how many confused looks, rude comments, questions and queries I had gotten from my peers. My friends said and I quote "Girl, you would look way nicer with straight hair like me." and " Daisy has similar hair to yours just it's not ass messy and big". My mum picked me up from school and this song played. I cried. I cried full tears and I couldn't stop. So thank you for this song as it helped me realise that my hair, my skin, my eyes and my body are something to be proud of and I have no need to change it.

Dear beyonce, i I wish they had videos like this when I was a kid growing up it would have saved me so much hatred for my skin tone for my hair for my lips my curves I didn't appreciate what it had because I was told I was ugly for what I had so I wanted to hide what I had not knowing what I had was pure gold I will never hide them again!
Every time I listen to this song I tear up. 💔 Growing up, my best friend was a very dark-skinned black girl. When we played outside she would only play with me in the shade. I asked her why and she told me she hated her skin tone and didn’t want to get darker. When we became teens, she would always talk about how she wanted my hair, she wanted my skin tone. But I’m not kidding when I tell you that she was beautiful enough to be a model. I tried to tell her for years that she was beautiful but it never got through to her... the voice of the media, the voice of people who were racist and colorist towards her, even the voice of her own family was louder than mine and she truly never believed that she was beautiful. I hate that so many black women are taught to hate themselves from a young age. I hate all of the racism and colorism in the world. Sometimes it all feels overwhelming and impossible to get rid of. I just hope if you are reading this you know that you are BEAUTIFUL, you are WORTHY, you are NOT a mistake. You do not need to change anything about yourself. The things others try to change about you are the special qualities that set you apart and help to “tell your story.” ❤️
Black women are not taught to hate themselves. I am sure you heard that from social media. I love the shade because the sun is too hot. When it is cold I love to feel the sun on my dark skin. If you really are interest in different cultures, don’t watch the news or be on social media, all lies. Black/Brown people love the skin they are in, at most the ones I know. The media mostly portrayed by someone not black paint a different picture. Much love to you😊
@Amy Young the complete reverse can be true, white girls who hate their skin/ are teased over it/ constantly fake tan to the point of never letting anyone seeing their real color. i know because i did that as a child. it will probably become more & more common with all the black supremacy pushed by the media. regardless, men of all races will sexually select for lighter skin because of biology. meaning they will continue to choose women lighter than their sisters. black women will continue to hate white women for this, regardless of feel-good sentiments like this original comment. as whites become a smaller & smaller minority, the cultural attempts at revenge (affirmative action, "you can't say my word") will become more & more extreme, likely culminating in war.

@@franciscastar334 Idky, at least I don't understand THEIR reasons completely. There's a video out here on yt with a message from Africa to Beyoncé basically saying thanks but no thanks to Black Is King. Their complaints ranged from a belief she like many many others were simply exploiting Africa for her own profit and wondered if and how Africa would benefit? Something about (misinformation I think) the fact she doesn't visit or bring her major tours to Africa, but obviously she did visit several places in Africa to complete this project. Some disapproved of the images used to represent Africa. Thinking they did not accurately reflect the modern way in which African people live today, just wearing jeans or business suits or other designer clothes, and stylish hair, even weaves and accessories & are active social media users, they seemed to feel-- just based on the trailer,--once again they were portrayed from ages ago as a step above savagery, wearing loin cloths , living in tribes in forests and such or something out of Black Panther. IMO Africa doesn't have a good image or reputation around the world , basically known for war, corruption and poverty and disease, the origins of humanity and AIDS, ALWAYS with a hand out for help, getting loans from the WHO and China and not paying back, FGM, stolen girls, etc... and Beyonce was trying to help provide positive I images about our Roots, this generation of Africans didn't seem to see it that way. The conversation thread showed a mix of support for Beyonce from African Americans and support from other Africans who agreed with blasting her. A disconnect in feelings was revealed with several AA trying to convey their teaching or lack thereof, about their own heritage in Africa and mainly negative stereotypes and bringing it current day to the murder of George Floyd and the resistance to the first black/Indian woman being nominated to vice president of the United States of a major party, to all the cop Murders and growing anti black sentiment in America, even historically from African people. This discourse seemed to demonstrate a need for less judgement and More of these understanding conversations. That was More detailed than I planned to respond but that's the gist of it.

Absolutely mesmerizing! The rhythm, the lyrics, and the emotion all weave together to create an anthem that celebrates beauty and strength. This song is a masterpiece that resonates deeply, reminding every brown skin girl of her undeniable grace and radiance. Listening to this on repeat is pure bliss! 🌟💖
"Your skin is not only dark, it shines and it tells your story." This really helped my because sometimes I think I'm not good enough and ppl say black kids can't learn. It really hurt for all of us but someday we have to take those hard days. This song inspired me so much I cannot stop listening to it. Whenever I have a bad day I listen to this!!
You never let others tell you what you can’t do. Not only can you learn, when you do, you create .... amazingly!!! Be unapologetic and shine. Prove them all wrong. They tell you negative things because they judge you based off of what Hollywood promotes. They don’t pour Into you because know what comes with you being full. Create your path and conquer when the roads are blocked. Never stop fighting, never stop being great!
Never let anyone else degrade your beauty you the original person on the planet everybody else is a carbon copy of us we are gods first men and women and remember hue man means color man so to be a human you have to have melanin remember
john John Please tell me you don’t believe in the out of Africa theory. That is a lie and has never been proven. Yes we are God’s first people. As if I wanted to offend you?🤣 lmao
Inga Babayan wtf?
Inga Babayan really funny I’m assuming you’re colorist
PERIOD
Much love to you😊
Also, we are all created in God’s image. God created me and whoever hates me insults the God(Jesus) who created me😊
Jay D we are
Jay D some black women hate their skin, speak for yourself please lmao
Ur skin is not only dark it shines and it tells ur story . black/brown is beautiful

(feat. Blue Ivy Carter)
(from "The Lion King: The Gift" soundtrack)

Brown skin girl
Your skin just like pearls
The best thing in the world
Never trade you for anybody else
Singin' brown skin girl
Your skin just like pearls
The best thing in the world
I never trade you for anybody else, singin'
[Wizkid:]
She said she really grew up poor like me
Don't believe in nothin' but the almighty
Just a likkle jeans and a pure white tee
She never did forever be nobody wifey, yeah
So while I may not pretty boy, your heart is amiss
Play it like a villain 'cause she caught in a wave
Tonight I am walkin' away
Lined up my mind, on the grind, yeah, yeah
Tonight I might fall in love, dependin' on how you hold me
I'm glad that I'm calmin' down, can't let no one come control me
Keep dancin' and call it love, she fightin' but fallin' slowly
If ever you are in doubt, remember what mama told me
Brown skin girl, ya skin just like pearls
Your back against the world
I never trade you for anybody else, say
Brown skin girl, ya skin just like pearls
The best thing in all the world
I never trade you for anybody else, say
[Beyonce:]
Pose like a trophy when Naomis walk in
She need an Oscar for that pretty dark skin
Pretty like Lupita when the cameras close in
Drip broke the levee when my Kellys roll in
I think tonight she might braid her braids
Melanin too dark to throw her shade
She minds her business and winds her waist
Gold like 24k, okay
[Wizkid & Beyonce:]
[Beyonce:]
Oh, have you looked in the mirror lately? (Lately)
Wish you could trade eyes with me (Because)
There's complexities in complexion
But your skin, it glow like diamonds
Dig me like the earth, you be giving birth
Took everything in life, baby, know your worth
I love everything about you, from your nappy curls
To every single curve, your body natural
Same skin that was broken be the same skin takin' over
Most things out of focus, view
But when you're in the room, they notice you (Notice you)
'Cause you're beautiful
Yeah, you're beautiful
Them men, them gon' fall in love with you and all of your glory
Your skin is not only dark, it shines and it tells your story
Keep dancin', they can't control you
They watchin', they all adore you
If ever you are in doubt, remember what mama told you

Yo right sis, we need to embrace our black women💯 We love you our brown skin girls😙
astraw Lepi no ones pointing a gun to their head
Colorism is pointing a gun to their heads. Its real.
Keela A. You have control over your actions, you shouldn’t need validation from no one.
This song is really powerful and I could feel the words. I just hope black women know that they are queens but they need to work with black kings and let us stop letting the enemy make us enemies to each other. Black Kings to Black Queens both acting their part. Let us build our families back with morals and love.
One Love from Jamaica 🇯🇲

Skin color.... Not nationality.... Or culture
Yessssss all girls of color no matter their nationality or shade. That’s why she speaks on melon, meaning color not shade. White ppl don’t have melon
My Naija 🇳🇬 people stand up for starboy🌟 Wizkid really nailed it. Kudos to Queen 👑 Beyoncé for shining our African Super Stars ✨
Gh🇬🇭 representing my brodas Naija🇳🇬 🔥🔥
This actually makes me feel better cause i am brown skin and I was gonna bleach my skin because i don’t really like my skin 😕 all my friends and family are lighter than me…but this song encouraged me not to and send me a message that was deep my skin just like pearls. Thanks for all your encouraging words every time I’m sad I come back to your replies and they make me smile 💕
Dark skin is beautiful luv💗don’t ever bleach it🥺
That’s stupid an unhealthy you probably would’ve have come out looking the way you wanted to anyways
Fake Name well life/depression makes you do stupid things 😳
I'm glad you changed your mind. I was like that too, until I discovered my worth. You are beautiful and your skin is too priceless/valuable for it to be changed.
a must watch BROWN SKIN BOY Official Video ua-cam.com/video/RcSYJJSP2Jo/v-deo.html
Queen Bey and young and coming Queen Blue -- simply amazing. Keep shining.
Imagine getting triggered at black women loving themselves (especially when they have been put down forever)😂😂😂😂😂✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿
It is unbelievable. But, people will still find something negative over a uplifting song.
Elizabeth Anne people still mad ?
Hater
Imagine making an unoriginal comment, imagine.
Mr. Shabazz i jam to this song even tho i’m not black you’re lovely 🥰
This makes me shed tears. Not because I've had issues with my skin, I'm Kenyan. But going through the comments I realize how lucky I've been to be black, born and raised in Africa. Other black women else where have been through so much. You poor things!😢😢
that's proof that racemixing doesn't work. here, black men prefer white girls, which black women & white men absolutely hate. and the racial conflict defines our entire politics. as a white girl, i'm sick to death of hearing about it. i can't apologize for the preferences of men. black women would be happier in Africa.
@@geminifreestyle3697 ?thats a lie.maybe dont spread rumors about black men when you arent even one.and you can have ur white girls back.we dont want them.
@@geminifreestyle3697 no one wants a flat girl or a crybaby
@@geminifreestyle3697 also,i think ur saying that so you can feel better because you dont love urself.maybe you should search it up instead of saying that.aint no one want pasty skin.its like saying that white men take away all the black women.you would start screaming.white girls are too weak .how bout i do a stereotype just like you did.fine i will.all white women fuck their cousins.how bout that .stereotypes are nasty and so are you
@@geminifreestyle3697 This would be true if we was living back in the 1950's. Black women are so far removed from hating black men who date white women. Its not an issue anymore. The racial conflict between black and white goes way deeper than interracial dating, you barely scratched the surface with that comment. If you want to date a black man....go ahead. If a black man prefers you.....congratulations. Just leave black women out of it because we don't care, and we are tired of "hearing" it. You listened to this entire song and the best you could get out of it is, black women and white men hate black men and white women dating, and its affecting the politics, so I believe black women would do better in Africa? Smh.
I cried when I saw this in the movie. It made me emotional because I was constantly picked on for my skin/ or my African features such as my hair or my nose. This is beautiful ❤️🌸
It is and so are those features hon 💚💚💚
What’s the movie called?
The Lion King
This song brings the love my inner child lacked for herself. Being the darkest out of all my siblings I often hated myself for not being light. But looking back at old photos of my ancestors they were all dark brown or if not even darker than I am. And I like to see myself now as a reflection of those in my lineage who have come way before me. They live on in and with me. ✨💜

i’m white af but this song made me emotional to the point of crying.. this is such a beautiful song. it’s so important to tell every little black girl and boy and even women and men that their skin is beautiful. i see why beyoncé gets all the hype❤️
Brown Skin Poppin 🍫🔥 ua-cam.com/video/i05P-KE_g3M/v-deo.html
Very beautiful song! 😭😭
I agree, I think people, in Africa, are upset with her over the album even prior to it's release.
Utbr01 how come??
Who else played this for their daughter? I love my brown skin girl...she IS beautiful!.
When I give birth this will be my baby's lullaby 😙😍
Cherri Johnson yep, right now actually! 🙌

Lyrics
Brown skin girl
Your skin just like pearls
The best thing in the world
Never trade you for anybody else
Singin' brown skin girl
Your skin just like pearls
The best thing in the world
I never trade you for anybody else, singin'
She said she really grew up poor like me
Don't believe in nothin' but the Almighty
Just a lil' jeans and a pure white tee
She never did forever be nobody wifey, yeah
So while I may not pretty boy, your heart is a miss
Pose like a trophy when Naomi's walk in
She need an Oscar for that pretty dark skin
Pretty like Lupita when the cameras close in
Drip broke the levy when my killas roll in
I think tonight she might braid her braids
Melanin too dark to throw her shade
She minds her business and winds her waist
Gold like 24k, okay
Tonight I might fall in love, dependin' on how you hold me
I'm glad that I'm calmin' down, can't let no one come control me
Keep dancin' and call it love, she fightin' but fallin' slowly
If ever you are in doubt, remember what mama told me
Brown skin girl, ya skin just like pearls
Your back against the world
I never trade you for anybody else, say
Brown skin girl, ya skin just like pearls
The best thing about the world
I never trade you for anybody else, say
Oh, have you looked in the mirror lately? (Lately)
Wish you could trade eyes with me (Because)
There's complexities in complexion
But your skin, it glow like diamonds
Dig me like the earth, you be giving birth
Took everything in life, baby, know your worth
I love everything about you, from your nappy curls
To every single curve, your body natural
Same skin that was broken be the same skin takin' over
Most things out of focus, view
But when you're in the room, they notice you (Notice you)
'Cause you're beautiful
Yeah, you're beautiful
Them men, them gon' fall in love with you and all of your glory
Your skin is not only dark, it shines and it tells your story
Keep dancin', they can't control you
They watchin', they all adore you
If ever you are in doubt
Remember what mama told you
Brown skin girl, ya skin just like pearls
Your back against the world
I never trade you for anybody else, say
Brown skin girl, ya skin just like pearls
The best thing about the world
I never trade you for anybody else, say
Brown skin girl, ya skin just like pearls
The best thing in all the world
I never trade you for anybody else, singin
