The 2022 Beijing Olympic and Paralympic organizers say their Games are designed to lower their carbon footprint and be more environmentally sustainable.
Sustainability and being “green” have been big Olympic talking points for decades, but experts say the Games continue to miss the mark.
CBC Kids News contributor Abigail Dove spoke to a former Olympian turned Olympic planner, Christine Nesbitt, a sustainability researcher from the University of Lausanne in Switzerland, Sven Daniel Wolfe, and sports academic and Olympic critic from Western University in London, Ontario, Mac Ross, to help figure out just what is going on with the Olympics and the environment.
