Billy Walker is a legend. Every whisky he creates is simply superb and some truly incredible.
Yeah, GlenDronach, BenRiach and Glenglassaugh revived by him. Thanks, Billy. However, he almost using up their high quality stocks. Look at these distilleries today, look at the shortage of old casks, look at the younger and younger new poor releases. I will focus on new product from GlenAllachie. If you want a distillery last for decades, don't let investment group be the owner.

Amen. The new GlenDronach Revival isn’t close to the original. Partly because the original had whisky that was a lot older than 15 years, so can’t be a direct comparison. However, the re release should have been marketed just as 15. It’s still a fine dram, but shouldn’t be compared to the Billy Walker offering.
@@scottking2821 Yeah, the succeeding blender maybe not as good as Billy, and what is most important is the lack of high quality stocks. They sold GlenDronach for a very good price. However, I really worry about the future of this distillery. For me, GlenDronach is out of my list.
Dear Ralfy out of the blue found one of the U.S. Sherry Bottles for your anniversary. Cracking it open shortly in your honor. I had given up on locating one through all of the chaos of past year so what a pleasure and shock to find one. Thank you for initiating my deep dive into my scotch appreciation journey about 7 years ago now. Lifting of a glass to you and Billy.

Had the Glenallachie 12 YO last month, a wonderfull malt!
Juuust got a bottle from this cask in NY! Wooo hoo! Will store in collection and save for a special occasion. Regular 12 in the meantime...
...The sherry cask that is. It's an Impex bottlong. Would love to try the port pipe somehow.
Love these little meetings. I haven't tried GlenAllachie but I very likely will go buy a bottle soon to try thanks to them taking the time to do this video with you.

It's a fabulous whisky, been to Aberdeen over Easter, walked into the whisky shop, tried the GlenAllachie 8year and 15 year old left with the 15, and a mystery box of samples for Friday night.
They are holding a virtual tasting,

Still don't have the new range available locally over in Sweden yet, but planning to pick up a bottle of the 12yo next month in Denmark! Sampled some on my last trip and loved it. The 'System' here can be a bit slow, depending on distribution.

Agreed G Man, it could be entirely innocent, though the fact that the 12 was his whisky of the year for 2019 will (well, could, in my opinion) raise some eyebrows. Long history with Springbank + Springbank 24yo partnership bottling too (great cause, don't get me wrong) - but it paints an opportune target on ralfy's back that I fear his detractors will jump upon.
@@NZAnimeManga what detractors? pay no attention.. hes been solid for ten years and this a way to put some money into the neighborhood.. if hes selling out? its the best way to do it. self promotion to help local communities. detractors smacktors.. nonsense, i want me a piece when it comes to the states. also speaking of self promotion. i want the ralphy bonnet! whats up?
To shut the detractors up and to prove his absolute objectivity Ralfy should completely stop smelling and tasting, reviewing and recommending spirits /sarc. If a distillery checks all the boxes, why not promote it? It's not like a crowd of JW Red ice melters is going to run out to snap up a Ralfy-recommended integrity malt after it trends on Fecebook or Twatter. You can't please everyone. Nor should you.
Picked up a bottle of the US release. Should be excellent when I get around to it.

Great having these legends under one roof. That said . Glenallachie , why aren’t you in Florida? I cannot find one single bottle of any kind. I’d like to try the 12 and the 10 Cask strength please !
Glenallachie 12 was available in the US in Spring 2019. Boutique store in Washington DC. Bought a bottle of it and 8 year cask strength as well.

While I believe in Billy Walker, a recent 18yr old Glenallachie gift was so flat and uninspiring that I'm off the brand for the foreseeable future. I will be back though bc like others have said, the man is a legend and I think they eventually get the ship righted.

@@thewhiskybothy I'm not sure if you will ever travel Ralphy ... in these desperate times certainly not .. however our club in Wanaka New Zealand. the esteemed "Mangawera whiskey appreciation society " would be appreciative of needing to have an extra ordinary meeting if you were ever to visit. Hi Ralfy, there seem to be two different port pipe versions going around with your name to it. One is 59,9% with a total of 890 bottles, but now I've also found a 59,6% with a total of 902 bottles. Are there in fact multiple bottlings of the port matured version?
