Archie's numbers are surprisingly good income/net worth guidelines. Archie is a good example of "Do what I say, not what I do." Don't agree with the part about getting your first watch at any cost, though. Use that $10k to start a business or give yourself a cushion.
Do you really expect this guy to remember what he burped into the microphone 24 hours ago? He starts preparing these vids approximately 5 seconds before flicking the camera on.
I bought a new Rolex Submariner 16610 in 2010 for 6k usd and wanted to return it a few days later. Thought I'd lose my ars on it and it would be worth 2k in a year. I never would of thought prices would be where they are today. The Milgauss is a turd as far as function goes. It is great to look at, but as a tool watch it sucks terribly. Several Omegas that are not even touted for magnetic resistance have like 10 times the magnetic resistance. Own a Yachtmaster40 and an Explorer 2.
So I should get my first Rolex when my net worth is -$70,000. After I pay off my college debt and gain $250k I can get my 2nd Rolex. Seems like good advice.

Good video, thank you, Arch. So hey, good point with mentioning the service costs. But I'll add even if you have a bunch of mechanicals under $1K you still have to be cognizant of that. I'll also add from my experience no one gives a $#!T what you wear for a watch and having a Rolex from the start wouldn't have gotten me anywhere faster in the workplace. That said, getting a Rolex at a young age is great and it'll be a trusty companion thru your life and bring back memories good and bad, and you'll see pics of you wearing it thru the years on vacation and good times.
Always buy a Rolex new from your AD. I just bought a new 41 Sub no-date for under 9k, that includes taxes. If you are paying 15, you are either buying something special and know what you are doing, or you are a fool with too much money.
Hey Paul, like your vids. How do you rate the Rolex AD's in Brisbane? I'm based in Brissy myself and looking to purchase another Rolex for my next birthday . Looking forward to your opinion. Cheers Terry
Afterlife!!! Yesterday, as he treated to his “I almost died” story, he said he wanted a Lolex on his wrist if he was in a plane crash so “they” would have to fight over his arm. How deranged is that reasoning?
It is demented, but honestly, I have just the opposite desire: I’m terrified of having a heart attack or a stroke and some scumbag paramedic cuffs one of my Rolies in the ambulance.
I'd be curious to know how you come up with these numbers, Paul. I have 3 sports Rolex worth 50k USD (they cost me 37k) and I'm far from having a 500k net worth. Yes half the house is paid for, I own two cars (not on lease) but that half million net figure (my assets minus my only mortgage debt) seems high. Maybe when I retire, get a lump sum from a pension scheme, inherit properties etc, otherwise I think it's hard to achieve for a middle class individual.
